- Brooklyn-based artist Kate Clark uses clay to sculpt human faces onto traditional taxidermy forms, covering the human features with the animal's skin. She hopes her creations will help people reconnect with the animal kingdom and realize humans and animals are not as different as we think.

Woah. The faces look like they're actual faces. Disturbing, but cool
It's like mythology/fairytale/religion comes to life!
gojewla The Chronicles of Narnia. I think it's a bit creepy to be honest. Her art work is great but it's very odd.
I know right, things you only see in mystic movies n such. Beautiful.
Don't forget "sociopathy"
A Midsummer Night's Dream... Oberon
Where can we buy some
Thanks for the nightmares Kate Clark!
Hunter lol
Hunter lmao have fun with ur nightmares
I like the art
Well good bye in your nightmares
This is a very interesting approach to Taxidermy.
***** You misspelled insane.
Badoocee I agree. This reminds me of a old game called ' The Endless Forest. ' where you play as a deer, but with a human face.
She was the student of Dr Hannibal lecter
Sanal K Joy yaaaas i love the series
Amazing artistry, really appreciate the way she makes it work from both perspectives! This might be what the ancient civilizations did that we see carved in stone today.
Eric Heydenreich That's what I was thinking.
I think they are beautiful! I love that she especially used the eye area of the animal, as well as the animal markings, but as leather rather than hide. The ears and antlers tie the whole thing together as a mythical fantasy creature! I would love to have one of her pieces!
this is terrifying and i want one for my room
Putting a human face on an animal's body, humanizes them, it forces people to empathize with animal's struggles. We feel more for humans than animals, so maybe this will bring further awareness to things like poaching.
+Fazz Thank God somebody understands it. Almost everyone in here is ignorant about art, saying "it's weird, ugly, etc." That's the whole point about art. To provoke, to challenge, and if needed, to offend.
+Homostoner 27 that, is stupid
+Akshat Shah That's a very well thought out and intellectual response!
Fibbz that honestly sounds like an amazing idea. I'm an animal lover so poachers make me absolutely sick.
Yes, but it also pulls us from reality. With a full animal we are confronted with the realness. That it was once a living, breathing animal. The human face turns it into something more dream and fantasy like. And it becomes more comfortable to see this as pure imagination.
What, the, actual, fuck.
Ikr
Kyle Monks she needs help
Her art is so beautiful, it teaches people empathy. These animals are useful in death too, in teaching people how to view them as eauals. We're all just animals trying to live on this planet.
Ashton Brooks wtf empathy about what? Buying animals’ who have been killed skin
I think it teaches empathy in a sense that if those animals actually had those faces, I doubt anyone would hunt for them right
Or you know, they could have been useful for other organism/animals as food
Ashton Brooks So using a dead animal as decoration and giving it the face of the thing that killed it is "art"? It's evil. I doubt it. It's disrespect to the animal's life.
What a meaningless philosophy.
This is actually really badass and independent-minded of her.
People saying this "crosses the line" are over-sensitive babies who want to control people.
Isaac Van Flein yeah
Isaac Van Flein or we're just normal people noticing how she is clearly disturbed
Bishop
How is she disturbed? I don't get it.
Alyssa Hansen she's putting human faces on dead animals. Does that not raise any alarms to you?
Bishop
No, it does not. Why would it?
The Endless Forest anyone?
Sophia Insanity ayyyyy
Sophia Insanity Yessssss
OMG i forgot about that game
OI I was looking for you? I forgot the name -_-
Me lmao
Furries
Get out of here Pikapetey, why are you here
Hahaha
Pikapetey Animations I always find you in the weirdest places ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Why do i find you on taxidermy stuff
F*ck you too. You cant just say things like this. A lot of people like me will get teiggered. Best to keep your small minded thoughts to yourself
I don't think its creepy,I've always been fascinated with mythology and magic and all that, so for me this is actually pretty cool. And you can clearly tell she loves what she's doing:)
I love how the pin-heads in the face look like a natural sparkling coloration! What a convenient result for the function!
There's nothing better then that feeling of awe when seeing something for the first time ever! This is creep yet amazing!
I actually find this very beautiful and facinating. Absolutely amazing
These pieces are really amazing and it provokes such a strong statement, yet it is so unsettling like my brain can't decide how to feel about it and its creepy, but still so intriguing like i can't look away. So cool how art can have such a psychological affect on people.
I think human faces on animals is one of those things that falls into the uncanny valley and blurs the lines on whether or not its a threat to us and we just get weirded out by the unknown.
Hhh....I'm gonna have a nightmare
But her art is pretty beautiful
Thanks for the nightmares Kate Clark...nah i'm just kidding, this was great art!
How are these creepy? I think they're absolutely stunning.
Milen Baykov lol nope. ;)
Uncanny valley.
I think they look like something I would draw
It's familiar but just not RIGHT so it falls under the uncanny valley
Im stunned because its creepy.
I found this very interesting and beautiful.
its nice to see there are some new faces joining us today......
Very bizarre art, but anthropomorphism isn't new but never heard about it in taxidermy.
I'm no mind reader but I'm pretty sure THEY DONT WANT TO LOOK LIKE THE PEOPLE WHO KILL THEM
Mc Parker xd yeah
This is usually done to animals which have died by accident, natural causes or etc. generally they are not hunted by the person but just found dead or die of (as said before) natural causes. There are of course cases where there are hunted animals, but generally no.
Ezura エズラ She said the face of the animal has bullet holes in it.
which is why i said that in most cases it isn't, but there are hunted animals.
エズラEzura which makes your point unvalid because they're not talking about all taxidermy artists they're talking about this one particular taxidermy where the animal she worked on was in fact shot in the face by a human then was given a human face which is very rude to the animal.
I think she did a great job, its kinda poetic and beautiful....
Reyal animals skins..is
It forces people to almost feel like the animal will at some point speak up and point out our flaws as humans. This is what makes people uneasy. I think it's amazing. Sad. Yet very beautifully delicate.
I love it! Might be off-putting to some but I understand her vision. This is brilliant from an artist's standpoint.
Thanks For the Compassion Kate Clark! Thanks for Reconnecting Us to Nature Again!
It's more frightening to me honestly.
This reminds me of a game called The Endless Forest where you're basically a deer with a human face.
I am so amazed by it and I am a 3rd grader I too want to be artist and like her just how she does it is just impressive 😊😊😊😊
Relvie Wohengu just don't turn animals into human....try creating things out of clay and artistic fur from art stores...just don't use dead animals
Do your best♡~! I’m cheering you on~!
@@shailys.k.y4090
Why not?
I love the pins in the face, it makes it look like they have jewels covering their face and these are so beautiful
This is what she does with the faces of her victims.
Nick L XD
Wow! Her art is just astonishing! Honesty, the eerie part is what makes it stand out in a very unusual refreshing way. Love it
Are we humanizing the animals or animalizing the humans?
This question leads down a wild train of philosophical thought I don't want to go down right now.
I think your art is very naturally mythical and beautiful.
In the words of Johnny Bravo: I am sickened, but curious.
It’s a really good way showing the relation/connections of animals and humans inhabiting the same planet.
There are too many people on this planet..
I dont even have twitter but im retweeting this
Horrifying? Absolutely. But beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
i wonder, who were they, before they were alive....now, they are just art
gosh, i love drawing faces on animal bodies, I'm so happy that this artist took it a whole jump further, absolutely love the artwork
I like the art simply because it’s scary.
Call this creepy all you want. But the faces are of beautiful sculpture and show artistic individuality. There's personality in this, there's life breathed into it that's unreal the still beauty of these sculptures. It's a fairy tale, it's a dreamscape with life and individuality.
It's beautiful.
These are some of the being living in another solar system

I didn't know that Dr. Moreau had a Daughter?
its kind a scary and beautiful at same time. 0_0
Thats the creepiest thing i have ever seen in my life
You clearly haven't seen much then
looks creepy but majestical at the same time!
2:51 is soo fucking freaky 😂
Murray Probert Yeahhhh fr
Murray Probert I was paused on that exact time stamp when i read your comment! Coincidence? I think not!
This is so sick, yet so artistic and interesting
beautiful and creepy at the same time... DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO PUT A MYSTICALLY CREEPY KIND OF MUSIC TO IT!!
I really like the silver pins around the face, very artistic
I find it beautiful. . is that wrong?
+roger viduya No, it's not wrong. It's an art form, and all kinds of art are beautiful to someone.
I want to find it unsettling, or horrifying, and yet its so well done that my brain just goes across the uncanny valley without dipping in its depths.
Beautifully disturbing.
It's like a fairytale brought to life. I'm not disturbed rather filled with wonder by her artwork. Bravo!
did any think island of dr. moreau!
No i didn't at first but now I do.
the concept that we make art and shi with some creatures skin is actully prett terrifying. imagine what ud think if u saw a real stuffed human head hanging on the wall for decoration
creepy as f@#$!! but beautiful art.
I mean I understand the message and it truly is beautiful, changing the face almost changes the compassion we give for the much more familiar, but I don't think you can ever quite find the perfect balance in that sort of project. You take something beautiful that everyone is familiar with and something else everyone is familiar with, take one's most defining feature (for the animals for me it's those expressive even if marble eyes) and slap the other defining much more familiar characteristic on top of the first, to give you two things that are familiar but they're not exactly where they should be. Which, I think no matter the person, will still elicit that moment of shock, that "thanks for the nightmares".
That's really dark if u think about it
MrSinisterSixty think harder
MrSinisterSixty *If* you think about it? Mate, no thinking is required to make this creepy a.f.
Its just cruel
These are absolutely stunning
But through what way does she obtain the skin? Does she purposely assign people to kill the animal for this purpose or...? If she kills animals to make art, it defeats the purpose of making such beautiful work
MEGHANA MANOJ WARRIER she mentioned in the video that she collects hides that no one else uses (often due to damage in the head, etc)
MEGHANA MANOJ WARRIER most taxidermists use animals that have died naturally from zoos, shelters, their own passed pets...
Great thing to watch b4 bed😅😀😀👍👍
Its creepy
This is so beautiful I can't even
This is something that Grunkle Stan would do
Dammit you're right
This is absolutely gorgeous
These are unsettling but quite beautiful, she’s an extremely talented artist
Absolutely Beautiful......................
It looks amazing 😍😍😍
these are absolutely beautiful.... and the meaning behind these are amazing too...
I love them!! So beautiful!! The faces are amazing!!
Whoah..............awesome!
these are creepy but i really like them. the Kudu one makes me think of the Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke and thats awesome
this is so insanely beautiful omg
That was very interesting. Odd, but interesting.
This is incredibly beautiful wow
This is ridiculously beautiful. She has a gift of really knowing the human face.
I guess it would be trippy to be the human subject the face is biased on. Though I find the necks can be pretty odd.
"thanks for the nightmares K. Clarke" just what I thought
But there is something about this Art, something special indeed!
This is actually beautiful
honestly i think this is really cool. if you stare into their eyes you can almost feel it staring back at you.. its really beautiful i think
This is absolutely beautiful. When she was talking about people thinking it was creepy and nightmarish I was like - who would think that? This is amazing! Then I saw 2:50 - yeah...okay. But otherwise, nice work! Love it!
I love these, they're so dreamlike and amazing
Now that’s the kind of art I Love
That is honestly so beautiful it's unbelievable
I hope these amazing creaturs comes to life.
Next put human faces on plants for Vegans
I love drawing creatures like these. This is awesome!
This is SO cool and so unique! What is the base for each taxidermy animal made of?
I find this beautiful and sad. If animals were born with human faces, we’d avoid killing them. We’d relate to them. We’d recognize that they have wants, feelings, and families. We’d recognize that what we are doing negatively affects them. It’d be far easier to get people to relate to them.
Amazingly created!!
