  • Hepatic lipidosis in cats is a serious diagnosis that requires immediate and aggressive care.
The liver is often referred to as the ‘factory of the body’, so any decline in its function can be detrimental to a cat’s health.
Hepatic lipidosis can lead to liver failure when left untreated, so it’s important to be aware of the signs of this condition as it develops.

How can you tell that improvement is happening? Color of urine/poop? My cat is eating the delicious food from the syringe but she’s not eating enough on her own in bowl.

@@mottbox I’m so sorry to just get back to you. I know it’s hard when you’re going crazy searching for answers. So, the jaundice did go away, after about 2 or 3 days on the 12mg of prednisolone she was eating on her own. We gave her fluids and I think that helped to flush the yellow away. HOWEVER, a week later we found out that she had a rare type of leukemia (not the common Felv) Her prognosis was 1-2 months with the prednisolone (she went down to 10mg a day). So basically we were giving her Hospice care, she got real cute being somewhat “normal” again until about 3 weeks ago when she was more tired. Her belly got swollen and it was probably prednisolone side effects. We gave her fluids sometimes. 2 weeks ago Her daddy died of other complications (uncontrollable IBS…. All the food doctors recommended are crap) and then she passed 2 days ago. Of course I’m heartbroken. I think it’s weird that she died exactly 9 weeks after starting the prednisolone. On the 8th week she started having a very foul odor and I noticed a big lump on her neck. I no longer wanted to talk to any doctor because I know they would have pushed for euthanasia. She never had problems breathing, or yelled like she was in pain, still eating treats and cleaning herself a little 2 days before she passed. I followed her lead on what she wanted, and I wonder why all my cats died around the same time…. We lost a different breed of cat diabetic keto acidosis/kidney failure 3 months prior………. I hope your baby is better.

P.S. I also discovered recently that you can get medications from Chewy …… I spent so much money at different Vets throughout the years. A large vial of B-12 is like 5 bucks, bottle of prednisolone is 7 etc. make sure the vet you go to will approve prescriptions through them. After I informed them of my IBS cat passing away, they refunded money for a very expensive case of food (they just ask you donate the leftover cans) and then they sent me a vase of flowers with a nice card. - I don’t know of any large company doing such a nice thing.
