I got a couple pairs of black jacks from Pinto Ranch. They both have loose threads and minor blemishes. Seems quality control is a bit lacking, unfortunately. That said, they fit really really well and look great unless you inspect them like a weirdo.
I do have a high expectation of very expensive boots within reason. I have everyday boots and dress occasion boots. Something minor does not concern me but something that I focus on whenever I look at the boot, would be cause for me to exchange them.
@@MightySmaug While the Black Jacks I got are not their super expensive ones, 550 bucks is still not cheap. You would expect better. Not gonna return them, I'm just never going to get that brand again - at least via mailorder..
Wonder what the differences are in the things we can't see - insole, heel counter, interior leather lining quality - that affect longevity. Both look great, but the edge definitely goes to Black Jack. I think I'd be happy to own either pair.
I got 4 pair of black jacks had them made to order the oldest pair I have is 30 years old. And they look like they did when they first come out of the box . the only way you can tell they are used is the bottom of the soles.

I have looked at them…they’re the parent company of Anderson Bean, if I remember correctly. Never owned any but have always thought they had pretty sharp looking boots

What is your regular every day athletic shoe size? I found that with Black Jack, I had to go down a full size from my everyday running shoe size, same as Tony Lama.
black jack is the custom man that left luchese and started his own brand. yet, the leathers are stiffer on black jack. i have 4 pairs of luchcese, wont give them up for life
I have not found that to be the case. I have 6 pairs of Black Jacks and 6 pair of Lucchese. I have found the leather to be very comparable…in fact, my BJ Rattlesnakes have the softest leather of any of my boots.

Lucchese are HIGHLY overpriced. All because celebrities wear them. Not at all worth it. Rather have any brand besides Lucchese.

Lucchese Walters look great, hate that they’ve been upping the price so frequently, while Black Jack keeps it honest and reasonably priced.

The bones of both boots are very similar. Both are great
