Hi Amy ! So glad to watch your videos.
My sentiments for China and it's pple are undescribable... To see adv podcast trashed China with horrendous exaggeration and lies ,even the children and youth are not spared, I got really really mad.
But watching ur videos made me happy. We're so blessed to be able to live here and be welcomed by its pple. Thank u so much for showing China to the world.
Btw I'd seen a video interviewing u by some media. U mentioned the term 'Lao Why' in Mandarin (as u know 'lao' means old, 'why' as in 'why-guo-ren' foreigner, it is actually really not a negative term. Let's think abt it this way, if someone's surname is Lin or Chen , if his neighbours are very familiar with him, they would call him Lao Lin or Lao Chen. He might not even be old, it's just a casual and more endearing way to address someone u know.
But in Hong Kong, pple called foreigner 'Gwei Lou' in Cantonese, although it's a common term used for centuries, and don't really mean it as intended, but it actually means 'Devil Dude' .

Well to me, she's more like an outgoing, active, and beautiful western lady with the understanding of Chinese culture.
I am very appreciate of her spirit, and I think she's very brave, because she's indeed very passion of exploring new things. She's living a different meaningful life in a totally different country with postive smile. This is what some of the Chinese nationals lack of, under this impetuous society.
But ultimately, we are where we came from, and that is our core nature perhaps will never change . As a Chinese international student live in Los Angeles about 3 years who got to knew a lot of American friends on the campus……I think im still, a Chinese person.

The shirt looks great! But I was surprised to find out that it was 500 for the shirt alone. At first I thought you wanted to get both a qipao and a shirt, and thought wow, great price. For only the shirt, though, it sounds expensive - but I've no idea how much it should cost... Anyway, great video!

Amy, is it RMB500 for the labor only? Or does this include the textile? Kinda expensive for just a top.

The pressure of living in a city like GuangZhou is as great as the convenience it offers. Audiences are peeping at the surface of the dynamic energy of China but lack the access to gauge the harsh reality of fierce competition and exploitation that torments ordinary urban dwellers. I'm glad about China's progress but also feel deeply worried and irritated by the widening inequality, political volatility and tyranny, and the ignored individualism. China is huge, complex, and the interaction between Chinese and people in other nations will increasingly determine how human civilisation develops. Welcome to China to know its modernity, its history, its pain, and its hope.

Guangzhou got one of the biggest textile and fabric market. Good place to make a suit or dress.
Suzhou will be a better place to make silk qipao.
