    Very beautiful! I am knitting a Harry Potter inspired scarf in blue and orange like I saw in a picture but you are inspiring me to learn to crochet

      Brian Carr now since I ran out of the colours I need for scarf 🧣 I had to order online for some more. While I wait for my order I’m doing a blanket with this similar pattern for my great auntie who just turned 90 ❤️ thought be a nice Christmas present for her :)

    Is the scarf really 35 stitches wide and 20 rows high? Or did you do it however you wanted it? I'm sorry, I'm new to knitting and I wanted to make one for myself. I'm a little nervous because it's my first time and I wanted it to look similar to the real one haha 😅

    • @Toytography
      @Toytography  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Each block is 35 stiches wide and 20 rows high. There are several blocks of alternating colors, so it will be much, much longer. I hope you enjoy it!

    Scarf looks great but a beginner needs you to move your thumbs and show each stitch when you flip the piece and start again. I had to look at other tutorials cause really couldn’t see

      I used Red Heart with Love in Berry Red and Red Heart Super Saver in Gold. However, it's a worsted weight yarn (weight 4), so you can really use whatever brand you want, in those colors. As long as it's the right weight, it will come out the same. Some people feel Red Heart is too scratchy, as it's one of the cheaper yarns. And thank you for the compliment. :-)

    Can I use yarn with weight 5?

    • @Toytography
      @Toytography  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! This pattern is easily adjustable, so you can really use whatever weight yarn you like. You would need a larger hook, like a 8 or 9 mm. Higher weight yarn and a larger hook means you will need less stitches across and less rows for each block. So, make less chains in the foundation chain, and chain to the width you would like it to be. Then only make as many rows as however tall you want each color section to be. Let me know if you have any other questions about it! Good luck!

    can i use a 5mm hook??

    • @Toytography
      @Toytography  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can! The only difference will be that the stitches will be tighter.

    • @Toytography
      @Toytography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forgot to mention that, because the stitches will be tighter, your project may be smaller. You can easily fix this by adding extra chains to the beginning chain, and extra rows to each color block section, if you want it to be roughly the same size. If this doesn't matter to you, then it won't make much of a difference.

    What is the size of the scarf?

    • @Toytography
      @Toytography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pattern is meant to be whatever size you want it to be. You just make your starting chain whatever length you want, and make the color blocks however many rows you want. I gifted mine to a friend who is crazy for Potter, so I'm not sure exactly how wide it was or how long. I would make a rough guesstimate and say it was about 10-12 in wide and about 5 ft long. Please don't hold me to that, though...
