The reason Tho'grun was changed to shuffling the TNT into your opponents deck was because of Gaslight Gatekeeper. You were only playing Tho'grun after Brann was online which doubled the Gatekeeper battlecry which would pretty much guarantee that all 18 cards would be deleted instantly
The Sheriff is a tech card in Aggro Pain Warlock in Standard. Wheel Warlock (in memoriam) and the "Limited Edition Standard Even Warlock 2024" both can use him too. He can let you push lethal by denying taunts and also bails you out of scary situations.
The change to oponents deck on bomboss was because brann warrior to go Brann into bomboss next turn into gaslight gatekeeper to turbo draw all the bombs twice Thats why it was changed to oponent, wasnt uncommon for gaslight gatekeeper to leave you without hand and board
Elise in Reno Priest is pretty good in standard. It's all about getting copies of big impact minions, so Elise is able to summon copies of your Zilliaxs, Yoggs, Amunthuls, and then you can make even more copies of Elise to do it more.
Sheriff Barrelbrim has popped up a little in standard recently, in Pain Warlock (where the condition is always active by turn 3-4), and the effect can help bypass taunts if you need to, stuff like that. It’s not great in the deck but it’s a good enough 30th card to show up there
I doubt anyone really cares, but Brann is on the outlaw side. If you read the backstory he was mining when the elementals started rebelling and he switched sides, because he may be a dwarf, but he protects Azeroth.
Maw and Paw is probably my favorite out of these, I really like how it's designed to be hard to remove and gives you a very good payoff when it survives, but it also doesn't feel that punishing for the opponent to let it live - you certainly want to get rid of it very fast, but it doesn't feel like if you can't remove it you immediately lose, if you get what I mean. I think we need more cards like that, hard to remove but don't punish the opponent too much for letting them live.
Pre nerf doc holi'dae was the kind of thing that would see concedes on turn 4. The moment a shaman coined on turn 4 something like 1/4 of standart players would just hit concede even before he got to play the card, it's just impossible to describe how strong the unnerfed staff was when compared to all other decks facing it at the time.
Idk why Blizzard gave Paladin and Shaman both Outlaws and Townsfolk cards in the mini set. The whole point was ‘if your class doesn’t Excavate, then you play Highlander’ but both classes have Finley as well as legendary Excavates
Finley is not a townsfolk card, Elise raised him from an egg but I just didn't mention him because Its really fucking annoying to talk About dual class cards in this format so I just scrapped it
the reason they changed boomboss is because Brann, boomboss, gatekeeper immediately won the late game against any other control deck, so this way you can at least have a measure of control over when you get bombed.
I got so fed up with highlander that i crafted the darkness and other cards that shuffle shiz in their deck. And the they change highlander to "Deck started" IMAGINE MY FRUSTRATION
oh yeah sherriff barrelbrim goes in both standard painlock (not very good anymore) and standard evenlock (solidly good), and hes pretty good in those decks
So, they specifically mention the highlander effect, which is why I included them because otherwise druid wouldn't have anything and I'm NOT talking about the fucking Badlands bandit's shit ass card dude
Hey, as someone who does not play the game anymore, i would really apreciate if the cards generated by another cards like the staff of the nine frogs were shows to us in the Power Point.
you make me want to start producing content, it took me a while to realize that my favorite kind of youtube video is just "guy saying stuff" and I don't need insane production value (no shade) to do that! anyways my favorite card is grim patron it was my first otk atm deck and it costed like 2 bubblegums and a shoelace in terms of dust at the time. I remember playing that deck during class and just going insaneo style on my old phone while it overheated.
Production value is the least important part of making TH-cam content you can record shit on an iPhone 4 and if it's just good content people will watch
My favorite card has to be Zilliax. So much flexibility. And aside from Unkilliax, feels pretty well-balanced. As in - whenever my opponents play it, I generally don't mind. Often challenging but still... not like Reno, where at least up until the most recent nerf, it was usually time to concede whenever he was played.
Also Boomboss change was only because it combos incredibly with gaslight gatekeeper - you just throw Boomboss on 8 with brann active, gatekeeper on 9 and you won the game because there is NO FUCKING WAY to not draw all 6 cards with redrawing your hand twice.
Throughout all the times I played against Reno Warrior I have never seen Thogrun's bombs destroy themselves. Maybe im just unlucky. As a Ren Paladin player this card is one of the most unfair legendaries against me. Great vids btw love your work.
Not to be the uhm actually guy, but they were the blackrock mining company, not townsfolk. It’s stated in the announcement for showdown in the badlands
I loved blowing up people’s hands with Kurtrus but then the deck got nerfed with the no dupe change so I can’t run double umpire and window shopper which are the only two cards in demon hunter in standard :(
I disagree with the priest legendary I don't see how it would synergize with a BIG deck. In fact it's specifically synergizes with small cards giving you a top end that gives you copies of small minions in your deck but makes them 5/5s despite them not being 5/5
Blizz was thiinking how do we get as much money as possible by forcing power creep every set. Game design and balance are secondary to get sweats to spend money on powerful cards.
@@FlareIsGone It's not run all the time, but it's like, if you do run Highlander, you might as well put it in, in the hopes of getting this extra value. It's not that terrible against faster decks either. Zilliax and Aman'thul are just that good
Most of these reviews are based of the card itself, not the decks it's in. Highlander Paladin is currently the 2nd Highest winrate in Standard. Almost every warlock deck runs Sherif
Duplicate shudder shaman in wild has this big problem where you you're running this late game combo strategy but wild doesnt tend to have a late game. Against aggro, losing reno and zephrys makes matchups into pirate rogue a lot worse without a strong comeback, while popular decks like reno druid or priest just use baleful banker, theotar, bullly, rat and mutanus amd they can disrupt your combo. Being Reno gives the deck room to maindeck tech cards and makes it less dependent on shudder against other slower decks. Holidae is specifically good into other reno decks because it just gives you a free threat to deploy every turn, and when they use their one weapon removal of they even have it, Shudder can just give you another. Duplicate shudder is just too slow to compete while reno shudder has the toom to tech. Alll non aggro shamans just lose on the spot to questlock, but that’s literally every control deck.
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about if you think wild doesn't have late game, Reno druid, priest, and paladin are all meta decks with incredible late game win conditions. It's just that shaman has a horrible time into miracle rogue due to not having good options. Reno priest can run shadow word ruin but shaman can't run devolve against giants, and shaman can't just deal 8 damage to all minions in some efficient way it doesn't have a cheat spell for specifically giants. Whereas Reno druid and Reno paladin also do
@FlareHearthstone You're right about the late game part, but reno priest and druid typically try to just outlast. An on curve Holidae in those matchups can put in a ton of work. Even the early frogs can net you a bug enough board to gift into bloodlust. Shaman's big problem is it's inability to deal with big minions too early. The best card for the job is Plague of Murlocs and it's just one card. Zephrys on five cam do it too, but it's nothing other reno decks can't do. I actually find that reno shaman matches up really well into reno druid and has a pretty even matchup into reno priest. Paladin having the otk built in is much worse, but still doable depending on the draw. Outside of reno decks, you either run aggro decks dry by turn seven or you queue into questlock and feel bad because you don't draw your tech cards. I definitely overstated the idea that Wild doesn't have a late game. Tons of matchups just never get into the late game is more what I meant.
As mentioned in the worst legendaries video, everyone is sleeping on barrelbrim. You can put duskfallen Aviana in jail several times, giving you multiple free cards. Blizzard needs to nerf this.
I don't think Ta'ethelan will ever see play, at least not in its current state, the text "no less than one" greatly restricts what it can do in standard and in Wild making copies of sorcerer's apprentice is more consistent than playing this card.
Can you imagine that they would make shadowstep and preparation have the same text? Like rogue would be dead untill new core set. And maybe you lose 5 health every time you bounce a minion? Like they bounce scorpion? -5 health! Bounce Tess? They are just dead! Like warlock can continue to bounce snake, bc it would get 7-5=2 health with each snake and destroy enemy 7 health still. Rogue shouldn't have infinite mana, it is druid thing and rofue shouldn't bounce MINIONS it makes 0 sense at all...
It's the actual breakdown from the expansion, "townsfolk" classes are excavate and "outlaw" are highlander except for the miniset because like I said Brann was there to mine Azerite and Finley is basically just Elise's really smart pet
