I died at the Mindflayer but since the death animation takes some time after the "cait sith fainted" message pops up, Moogle literally punched his last HP away at the same time, and it counted as a win for me, that was my first try. I CANNOT believe that happened LMAO
I’m in cutscene cutaway hell. Having to repeat the fight over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over…..still going
I'm with you. Thought I had everything sorted, then boom, dead because the Moogle disappeared right before Eldritch Horror. Put on Reraise next time, Mindflayer won't let me get enough ATB to recast it and kills me. There have been many challenges where random nonsense occurs and I'm dead.
I see hope. I see that it's doable, but the "I did it first try" comments aren't helping me feel better about myself.

We're all in these fights, so we know the struggles and the lucky moments. I beat the one with Tonberry King and Joker at the end with only Cloud alive and 1 hp. This game is difficult, because it goes after the character you're controlling most of the time and I've even had moments where it feels like the game is actively working against my command inputs, like it sees the menu, and actively want to pull some shenanigans.
@@Texasian959 omg yes!!! The damn thing is easily predicting our moves, without or consciously putting thought into it. It learns moves and by moves, like every single move and action you take is life or instant death. It’s a joke really, I’m still trying that final two bouts…I’m losing interest now though, a lot of work to end up with two 10 round fights and I’m like…screw this…this truly sucks
I think I’m gonna go back to my rhythm game. Something I know that is probably equally as hard if not harder, but at least you eventually make it through
Took me a few attempts before I realised the moogle has a health bar to the left of Cait’s. Once I saw it, it made mistakes less and I (slowly) smashed that Mind Flayer. Thanks for another easy method.

Quick tip for Eldritch Horror:
I don’t know why but the first 2 or 3 times I tried this with this strat, it would always target me instead of the moogle, so I figured there is a way to actually avoid it:
After using your first limit break at the start of the battle you should be able to charge another one up by the time you stagger the Mindflayer. Hold on to it and don’t use it until you see Eldrich Horror pop up, then quickly go and use the limit break, granted you still have your moogle alive. This will make you immune and that’ll be it. Since it usually happens after it’s been staggered once, you’ll most likely end up killing it in the meantime.
That being said, great guides! These solo bouts have been fairly easy thanks to you, can’t wait for the last two!
First off, thanks Optinoob for these absolutely amazing guides, second, thanks, Andrew for that tip. Because I saved my Limit Break for Eldritch Horror, I managed to tank through it and beat the VR mission.
I've tried 4 times and been hit by eldritch horror (even with the Moogle out) every time.
I managed to survive it once, somehow. Had the Mindflayer beaten, right down to barely visible hp. Telekinesis left the rocks I could get behind against the invisible wall and I could not get behind them which resulted in a dead Cait Sith.
The abomination is the logic behind these challenges, not the enemies in the battles. It's the opposite of fun.
@@WMartinNI I know they can be frustrating, but if anything, going after that platinum got me close to 200 hours worth of gameplay. So looking back I don’t regret all the frustration. Obviously these guides have helped me tremendously, I think I would have just bailed if they weren’t out there!
Tip on evading eldritch horror in the event you don’t have a limit break for s.
It homes in on the target’s location 1 second before it goes off. So if you move or evade when you see the attack name flash up, it should miss you. That seems to be how the Moogle evades it too.
You can dodge using the dodge and out ability if you have the moggle out and 1 atb. This helped me get through it

When u say it's a slow battle but safe I'm totally fine with that. This was a really good method and got the job done on the first shot. I haven't used Cait that much he's probably the least popular character. As u said very awkward to control. I've enjoyed all your brutal and legendary walkthroughs even if I've already beaten a challenge I still like to see alternate approaches. Great video man. Appreciated.
Thanks to your guide I was breezing through 1 to 4 but unable to dodge mindflayer's Eldrith Horror. So I improvised and saved my Limit Break strictly for the purpose of tanking these laser attacks and it worked! Hope someone find this useful 😃
These guides have been insanely helpful. Could not have made it this far without them. Just two left now. Really not looking forward to 'Bonds of Friendship.'
All this time and I had no idea hiding behind the rocks for psychotic break was a thing... I laughed so hard at myself when you showed that. 😂
Using Time instead of Enemy Skill helped with the Mindflayer immensely since it's susceptible to slow. I found unless you're actually attacking a target after Let's Ride, Moogle will just hang out and not aggro.

Blew my mind too, I always used a synergy skill to stun the Mindflayer instead. I Was wondering how to get around that without 2 or more party members. :P

I knew Cait was going to be the worst one so I held out for your vid and it made it the easiest one yet. Success on first ever attempt. Patience is key. Bravo bud!
Sometimes he would throw eldrich horror at me even with moogle tanking him. Always died to that. So I started using limit break to counter eldrich horror (during limit break you are immune to damage). And blocked every other ranged magic attack he'd throw at me in order to build up a new limit break for the next eldrich horror.

Taking a break after having finished the previous Solo Bouts before tackling Cait's. I had a feeling this one would be a slow, but steady race one!

Thx for the guide, did it with Golden Microphone for more slots+magic attack and Ice+Magic Focus instead of Speed Up, was clutch at the end of the Mindflayer fight, still took me 11 mins, not the hardest fight but just painfully long, there‘s a few of them in the game of this kind ugh
I'm so curious to see what your strategy will be for the Zack legendary bout. The sephiroth one is honestly super easy because Sephi is broken and spamming his shift slash ability gets you your limit break super quick legit got his done on the first go around but Zacks is a different story.
Got it done first try thanks to your guide. Luckily reprieve kicked in while fighting the Mindflayer and I was able to double cast chakra to recover. Using the moogle to tank was a brilliant idea.

Thank you, i finally made it on my 4th attempt. Its not hard but by far the most annoying Simulation yet. Because if you fail by bad rng in the end, you always know that you have to do this long fights again. Happy to have this one from my to do 😅

Zack fight will be up today, just got to tidy up the Bahamut part, i've finished it in 12:05.. so far. Wonder if i can get it under 10 with more optimisation ;).
Titan in first round is dead in 10 seconds by the way and doesnt even get chance to attack poor guy

@@revit4909 The key for Titan is to cast STOP as soon as the fight starts with Zack, he doesnt get chance to spawn the shield or manawall then, meaning Cloud can jump straight in. Bit more to it, but thats the key!!!

Finally was able to get this done as well thanks to your build and strategy. It took about 20 tries because round 5 always gets me. So, this is the most difficult Legendary bout for me. I decided to make this a longer fight by replacing the poison and petrify with reraise materia so I have two chances of reprieves. Also, to get my HP back, when Mindflayer does the Telekenisis, I hide behind the rock and then do soothing breeze. There should be enough time to escape after the Psychotic Break spell from Mindflayer. It's a battle of attrition for this round basically. It just sucks if you fail since we gotta start back from the beginning! This was a 22 minute completion run for me. Now, I'm taking some rest by watching some Bond of Friendship videos and then go from there.
Not once but twice I got the Mindflayer to a sliver of health, then died to his insta-kill laser BS. To anyone else struggling with this, save your limit from the start of the fight for when he announces the laser attack (Eldritch Horror). You're completely immune to damage during the limit animation, so the laser will phase harmlessly through you. Edit: just make sure the moogle is out, as Cait can't use his limit without him.
I dreaded the solo fight with Cait Sith, thanks to you I got it on the first try!!🎉

Another W guide. Mind Flayer gave me a lot of trouble, i forgot reprieve but got through it the 3rd time.
Omg am I looking foward to ur guide on the last 2 legendary . These last 2 alone feel harder then all the rest by leaps and bounds. Got to round 6 1 time before dien I noticed stop works on kujata and had I did it right I woulda made it past it but as broken as zack is I h8 using him.. these missions are basically all that's holding up my platinum trophy . Fingers crossed hope u pull off a miracle 🙏 ✨️.
Your guide worked like a charm on my first try. Only thing different is i used limit break when he used his horror move.

Finished this early in the Morning today. Replaced Speed Up with Rearaise Materia. U can finish these GI's with 1 Fiagra LvL 3 if they stay close otherwise Build ATB and Limitbreak. For the other ones keep an eye on Moogle and Spam Ice LvL 2 and use ATB Boost and also Dodge. This Mindflayer can be annyoing when he cast's his Bubbles. Running away helps. Build ATB up use Rearise than again ATB, try Lucky Slots for Limit and Summon Odin . GG's and thx for this Guide.
After Rulers of the Outer Worlds I hate this fight the most next.
I must've had my dreams shattered by Eldritch Horror at least 7 times.
Tried switching Enemy Skill with Reraise since this guide doesn't apply it on any rounds.
What I FAILED to realize is the effect doesn't carry over between rounds so my dumb self wound up expending MP needlessly.
By the time I got to Mindflayer I didn't quite have enough to cast Reraise.
I almost died on about 5 occasions; he actually conveniently targeted the Moogle with Eldritch Horror *FOR ONCE* and I was able to keep myself afloat with chakra, keeping an eye on my Moogle's health, and Bio(ra).
Only 2 more to go.
if u mount the moogle right when the mindflayer does the one shot move, you will jump over it.
Your video is amazing. Easy to follow and helped me get through this challenge in no time.
The problem i keep having in the mindflayer fight is that moogle doesn't pull enough agro most of the time which always happens right before that insta kill attack
Got this second try, solo cat is just, tedious.
I changed up quite a bit tho. I got rid of magnify and put in barrier and reraise, cause the mindflayer can take you out upon reprieve. Also changed to Phoenix for another Reraise. The first 2 rounds you can use the same limit break opening strat and a fira on whoever survived.

As always, the best guides. I used to be really angry with those challenges, but thanks to your explainations I could managed to do it efficiently. Sometimes I got lucky not gonna lie. But without thoses guides luck wouldn't have been engouh at all.

I used the Yellow Megaphone with Moogle Decoy, Moogle Sentinel, Moogle Vanguard, Attack Damage +5%. I put on Enemy Skill + HP Absorption for a Plasma Discharge heal. Kind of useful at times. I kept limit breaks for Eldwitch Horror.
I beat it using your Materia set up though.
When are you going bonds of friendship. Watched a lot of build videos for the brutal and legendary challenges, but always settle on yours because i have the most success with them

To those stuck on mindflayer. When he uses Phychotic Break, HIDE BEHIND THE ROCKS! It took me too long to figure that out. Also, when you down the mindflayer make use of odin. He does a good amount of damage with his skills and does a guaranteed 9999 damage when he leaves the fight. It saved me the run and the pain of going back to do it all again
Wow. I'm going to have to try this method for the Hard mode story fight with those adjudicators! This is such a simple method of fighting with Cait!
I would check out my hard mode guide for that chapter as i have to kill them a little differently, still simple though ;)

So your strategy was perfect, had mind flayer at like 10% health, Odin like 3 seconds from unleashing his ultimate, at full health, then mindflayer makes my moogle disappear, teleports, then he and his clone used eldrich horror and from full health killed me, and my reprieve in a single hit each. So reprieve will not necessarily save you. And my game over screen read “reprieve activated” as I died. What really sucked was that the two beams hit me at the same exact time, so I figured it should have counted as a single hit. Or hey maybe it’s just me. Gonna try again tomorrow, happy hunting everyone!
Eldritch horror hit me every single time the moogle is out.
It can if unlucky, you can try to jump on moogle just as it happens. Or use Caits slot to cast reraise on himself
All of these solo guides have been fantastic from start to finish. But lemme add something on this one. SUMMON ODIN! His Zantetsuken will deal 10k damage and end the fight!

I had so much problem with the Mindflayer, what made a difference for me was changed Strength Up for Precision Defense Focus (to help mitigate damage and build stagger IF successful) and save my Limit exclusive for Eldritch Horror, because it some times target me and kill me.
Good strat. Fighting as Cait is something I never wanna do but the devs force it on ya in more ways than 1. After doing all the solo missions with the regular cast I'd say this one is the easiest although time consuming.

Was really afraid of this. Died a few times on scorpion. One jump attack and its most of the time game over. I switched chakra with cure. After that it went good. Just stay dustant play save and heal if needed

LOL When I tried to use lucky slots on mindflayer, it nearly killed me cuz I was too exposed and vulnerable. Still managed to get it 1st try with ur strat.
I don’t know if it was just a goof, but I got eldritched horror while moonless was still out so I was a bit confused how that had happened.
I substituted skill master for enemy skill just to have a little bit better atb rates.
Super easy barely an inconvenience, but only with this build. I found an easy way to dodge the purple balls (both the few small ones and the two big ones) on the Mindflayer: Repeat dodging to the side when they almost hit you spamming dodge foward (they don't have to be super near there is plenty of room)
Two times the mentalis killed me when he was at one shot i swear to god...

One thing that'll help Cait Sith do more damage is to use Sonic Boom with the Enemy Skill Materia to buff his magic attack
Cait Sith shockingly was one of the easiest ones when you know what you are doing. I think most of us were dreading his one the most but it wasn't all that bad. I think I got that one on the first try.
Thankfully I've totally finished all the combat sim challenges now! You definitely helped me out for those brutal challenges so I'll always be thankful for that.

I started attempting this challenge at about 210 hours. I am now at 292 hours and STILL can’t beat the mindflayer. It never targets the moogle with its undodgeable purple orbs. Just spams me until I’m dead. I can’t progress further and there is nothing else in game left to do beyond the two challenges that are locked until I beat this.

This fight is so unreasonably tedious. The fact that i used 4 limit breaks on the mindflayer shows cait is not meant for this fight solo
After about three hours i did it. Man... The Rng on these challenges are brilliant bullshit. Swear to god. At first the Gi somehow flew behind me at the start, and one of them did not die. Then the Scorpion started completely ignoring the mog and crossing the arena after me. Then the same happened to the other dragon. And then The Mindflayer started one shoting me with Eldrich Horror. Then i made this: Everytime the scorpion was gonna hit the moggle hard, i called him out of there, and jumped away from him again. Same thing with the dragon. If he came after me, i called mog and jumped of it to scape the attack, and then i called him before the dragon used Gnaw on him to avoid him dying, so i had more free atb. I put reraise and used in Caith so if he died i had about MP for three reraise, and everytime i saw the name Eldrich horror i used the Limit, so the animation would ignore the damage. Guess what? When i did that, the Mindflayer did not use Eldrich horror on me. NOT. A. SINGLE. TIME. until he died 🤡
Now for the good part. Man, it CRACKS me up everytime, Mog all giggly walking around, beating the shit out of the monsters, and HE LITERALLY STOPPED with his hands on his waist waiting for their animations sometimes.
And when Mindflayer used Telekinesis, IT CRACKED ME UP he walking ON HIMSELF to hide behind the rocks 🤣 So funny and so cute 😂.
Now just Two more to go: Bonds of Friendship and To Be a Hero. God Help me.

Are any of these Legendary Bouts / Brutal VR 6 possible without Genji Gloves / Magic - Spirit - Speed Up / Cetran Bracer and/or Armlet "missed one of them from dungeon, is lost forever unless I rerun the entire dungeon again?", Max Weapon LV and Göttedämmerung? (Brutal VR 6 is driving me off the walls since I'm missing these ;w;)

magic up is important, but spirit and speed can be soared
@@OptinoobyI tried unlimited limit method (Cloud, Aerith, Barret) for Brutal 6 and I can't get past neither Odin / Alexander or mostly Gilgamesh. Brumal method doesn't work due of not doing enough damage with Firaga without Genji Gloves.

revival earings works better for me instead of gotterdammerung, cause I always die due to eldrich horror. For some reason, the mindflyer wants to attack me more instead of moogle (I already have moogle decoy x2) .... 😑
How to you change to range attack when you activate let's ride? His still on melee mode after I get off the moogle, pl help
range attacks is dodge+attack
Way easier with magic build!!! And faster. All your other videos were really good. Except for sephiroth. Add fire and haste. Auto cast heal and first strike to Aeris, by the way, her real name. What you pulled off in that fight is extremely hard to do. So if it doesn't go to plan you have a backup

I found that on mindflayer using moogle magic deals good amount of damage when Odin is equipped. Far better than any other spell. So poison it and spam moogle magic
This sounded cool so I tried this and the problem is you have to ride the moogle to cast it. I thought it was safe since the Mindflayer was melee attaacking the Moogle so I cast it. It teleported the moogle to me and the cast time was so long that the Mndflayer cast telekinesis whlle I was on the moogle and nearly one shot me. The second time I tried he just teleported away and the attack was wasted.
Is there any chance to see another video today? (Since we are not in the same time zone, I think)
