Great stuff son, what a day that was on a water we haven’t fished before and a great finish to our w/end away. Keep up the good work son so many anglers enjoy your videos helping them understand the tactics they maybe wouldn’t have tried but for your videos, looking forward to the next one son hopefully maybe catch me landing a few if I remember to switch on my camera😂😂.
@@blackfur241 I only took him out fishing to see if he would be interested, the rest was all himself. Great video Chris the rain bow zonker doing good it bagged my 2 last Sunday at roslinlee back on Sunday hopefully it does the damage as again tight lines 🎣
Great video and some handy tips. I’ve fished Newton a few times. Lovely place with a good head of fish. Another Fife fishery worth a trip is Stenhouse. Well run with friendly and helpful owner.
Cheers Len! It’s a lovely spot for sure, and made me want to go back soon! Yeah I’ve been to Stenhouse not filming and had a great day, and I intend to go back to make a video next year 👍🏻🎣
Thank you for another cracking video, and for sharing your patterns your purple zonker definitely works up here in sunny Aberdeen. Maybe we could see a father v son vid soon just for the craic 😆
Cheers mate, glad to hear the zonker is doing well for you! We did a father v son at Ledcrieff the previous day to this one, the vid is here - th-cam.com/video/8IM4HfS42kE/w-d-xo.html. 👍🏻🎣
Some cracking fish there. Glorious winter weather as well. Such an impressive catch rate. I went on Sunday and tried eggs and apps and squirmy under the bung, tried Fritz, damsel and Snake lures and didn’t get a knock in 6 hours. It was freezing but it was flat calm. Baffled me. Only thing I can put it down to was changing my clear intermediate for a faster sinking black line…. That’s alls I have changed and I didn’t get a sniff. The clear intermediate has been replaced and re-spooled so back at it Sunday. We shall see. The odd blank doesn’t bother me too much as it’s rare but as they say, a bad days fishing is still better than a good days work 😃👍🏻
It really was a cracking day weather wise. Beautiful skies, freezing first thing but I don’t mind that. Must have just been one of those days mate. I find if the suns out then clear intermediate ain’t the best - but when it’s overcast clear intermediate is definitely so so much better. Definitely agree that fishing beats working regardless!! 👍🏻🎣
Hi BC, Have just read your comment and have failed to see mentioned floating line. I would never leave the floater out just because its winter and cold. Its surprising how high fish are at times, and never showing. Small and slow for resident fish and a bit more flash for the stockies. Sink line sometimes means you might have to move the pattern a bit to quick for the fish on the day. Good luck mate on your next trip. Its stunning there. Shaun.
@@shaunfishes101 I went to my local fishery in Wrexham. I took the floater and used it for the bung and a yellow owl. Nothing at all. I always set up 3 rods so I don’t have to change. I have a sink tip on a 9’6 6 weight, the lures were on a 10ft 7w and the I had a 7w on the floater. It was just strange conditions. I’m guessing it’s not been stocked in a while either.
@@shaunfishes101 the fish were high, I could see them so I switched to the sink tip and the sinker was sinking to fast and was jet black….. that’s why I was cursing taking off the clear intermediate which is what I normally always catch on. I’ve bought a new one now so I’d expect better look on Sunday. All the best 👍🏻
@@CBCB78 Whats your water in Wrexham. The boys and myself are looking for waters. Is it a c/r. Wrexham is within our range. Those fish moving near the top are sometimes the better fish. What we do is floater and a small 14 or smaller and something like a muskin or a very lightly tied march brown sort of fly. Sometimes a very small bit of gink on the back. fish static or very slow, just keeping contact with the fly. sometimes the hit can be so aggressive. Target the channels were you see the fish travel. And most of all be patient.
I’m pretty sure it’s called the Daiwa Aqua Dry Boat Net - it’s huge, and not the lightest, but really good to protect the fish especially when you get large fish. It extends out far too 👍🏻🎣
looks like ive got to have a bit of faith in the bung,i was fishing in flat calm the other day and nothing.i should have tried the bung like you did.i went through a box full of flies lol and still came away empty handed.more practice needed i think and the bung
It’s definitely a tactic that works well this time of year in flat calm. Just fish 1 fly if it’s a pressured water, and sometimes more subtle offerings can make a huge difference, but sometimes something bright will be most effective- just a case of changing until you get it right 👍🏻🎣
Thanks for taking your time to show your tactics much appreciated 👍keep up the good work.... what is the depth of water there..And do you think 3 flies at once can scare the fish..
No worries mate 👍🏻 it wasn’t deep, I’m not exactly sure, but most areas were 6 feet max. 3 flies can spook fish in clear water, so it’s either increase the gap or reduce to 2 👍🏻🎣
Yeah it was a great days sport. I think it was 15, but not sure - only a few not on camera. My dad got 7 and I was shocked to hear that out of the other 6 people or so who were up the most they managed was 2. 👍🏻🎣
