As a king main enjoyer since 2018, that video was funny to watch
Even if it doesn't give the best solutions to fight king, it can help beginners
So i will give my advices to fight king :
Grab king guys : the legend is true... King mains don't break throws, if you ad that with the fact they spam power crush, they'll just eat all your throws
Side step right : lots of his poking moves has poor tracking to king's left, and his ffn2 low has no tracking at all
Practice you throw breaks smartly : if a king is running at you and grab you, it's 1+2
If a king is back at the wall and grab you, 99% it's a giant swing (1break)
If there's a floor break, either it's 2 or 1+2 depending on the arm animation
When a king goes sprint mixup :
DON'T GUESS !!! try to NEVER DUCK and only duck react to the slow animation of the RKO
Learn the most dangerous chain grabs !
death craddle is in order : 1 then 1+2 then 2 break
King's bridge is 2 then 1+2 break

It's best to just mash 1,1,1... until King stops if he goes for raw Jaguar Sprint in heat (without heat just one jab is enough).
After uf3+4 or heat smash -- yeah, you have to learn to react to the grab.
Some of the King hate feels forced. Especially with the likes of Dragunov and Alisa in the game...

They nerfed movement, and people wonder why grapplers are aids.

Stepping King in T8 is much easier than in T7, that's literally the best and easiest counterplay now

I only hate his muscle armor . This should count as a move so you can ch launch him with a low out of it
Honestly compared to half of the cast I'd say king is more honest with his strings. We can't do chip damage across the stage like Victor, we don't have the pressure of reina or Lidia, and we have a much small sidestep compared to anyone but the bears. The chain grabs have been around for a long time since tekken 2 (back when one kings bridge was a death combo) so I'm just surprised that by 8 with its easier throw breaks he's all of the sudden an issue. Maybe it's the influx of new players vs legacy players as legacy players like me already got a feel for him. With the current frame data I'm much more nervous to face a dragunov, yoshimitsu, or Lili (besides best side step in the game next to Alisa some of her strings actually duck all mids)

As a King main, I actually enjoy King mirror matches. I try to learn new strats playing others, watching streamers or youtube videos.

The other day I was getting pieced up by a Lee who was hitting me with a quick launcher followed by wall to wall combos and with no real way out of them I thought to myself, “these juggle combos aren’t that different from a grapple combo.”
As a King thats currently Kishin I can confirm that the King hate is garnered cuz mirror matches are a nightmare 💀

Because everytime I rank up or go on a streak, king ruins everything. There's a difference between training for the grab and dealing with it in a match.

@SwannyOnTheSticks yeah King is tame by comparison of the higher power level of this game
Problem with king is that he embodies a lot that is wrong with T8 and that is that he gets things for free. Not to mention that throws are powered up in this game and some of his throws are ambiguous.
There are worse offenders out there but king is hands down one of the easiest to pick up and go with brain turned off until you hit someone that knows his bs with good reaction.

It's because everything he does have insane tracking for all 98% of his attacks and the fact that they gave King a wavedash. Still he's not as bad as Jin and Alisa mains

The hate is justified, that free armor thing he does is the single cheapest thing in the game. I didn’t know I was fighting a souls boss on max difficulty

@Fleez311 Lol, use a safer mid? Or open with a low instead? Some of these characters can pound off two hits into his muscle armor & still have time to block before King swings back. Visit the lab, it helps.
@@andreirving779 okay?? You have time to block but your turn gets stolen via the push back on the elbow as it essentially resets neutral and does chip, in which the move alone can effortlessly condition you to lows and go for grabs.
And I’m not speaking on the armor move in the context of someone mindlessly abusing it cause no shit I can just grab and do lows all day against them, I’m referring to kings that use it optimally to help him control neutral since that’s the purpose of the move. But I respect the downplay though

Honestly some of his moves have been there since the beginning. I still dont understand why so much king hate when online play has been around since....5? I dont even play king but at least i know if he gets his hands on you, unless you know what youre doing youre gonna get slammed. Cant tell you what it sounds like but just definitely know, it sounds like it.

@SwannyOnTheSticks no fault on you. This is a lot of people's first Tekken competitively. You were definitely right on the "be aggressive and predictable" call. King players are used to a certain speed of the fight so if you stay on the move you can slowly chop them to death
I don’t really hate King in particular. But I hate my friends King. Dude pisses me off every time we play lol.

That's bullshit. King is plus after every grab break. And as for breaking every grab you're delusional. You have a 1 in 3 chance to break a grab. Guess wrong you're eating 55 damage at least going straight into mix. They made King braindead. You can literally button bind all 4 face buttons to a single button and just mash all his throw chains. He's a braindead character designed for shit players

T8 king is just stupid, this character never got the amount of hate he got in this game and it's because of all those running mixups they gave him, it's definitely not about not being able to break grabs cause the grab in that mixup is unbreakable.

King isn’t that cheap.. it’s the king play that has to deal mashy spammy bs.. the think about king is he can be very technical, but he also can go bunga a little bit.. so players like myself determine how skilled the player is.. if the play is skilled they don’t mind the King match to much.. but if victor and Alissa is on the scene I’m more than happy to be a bunga jerk because those players just by looking at the screen obviously don’t care who the spam.. so you get what you ask for.. I know how this work I’ve been playing 20 + years

the problem with this video is that the footage doesn't gel with the commentary, you are praising king and showing him constantly get beat up or win by not that big a margin

Personally, I never really hated king. He looks cool. For some reason I grew hate for characters like Law. Just because of their fookin voice, every time I hear Law screaming it reminds of Liu Kang spaming my ass with fire balls. The screaming just feels so.....forced, it doesn't even sound cool to me.

Offline king is not that hard to deal with. King is really annoying because of online lag. It just becomes way harder to counter him.
