  • Now that the Goose Gear plate system is installed in the Jeep, I spend a few days moving back in and figuring out where everything goes. Then I set off for Thomas, West Virginia, to enjoy some small-town charm and winter wilderness!

    Just an idea to keep you from running ahead to place a camera and then go back to get it after your drive by footage. If your budget allows, a DJI Drone would be perfect. Could fly it to the area you like, land it and face camera toward your oncoming direction, then after you park just fly it back to you. Plus could help scout an area you might not be sure of before you drive down the path. Just a thought, good luck with adventures!

    I donated $25 to Jennifer’s cause, and I’m not posting that here to be self-congratulatory, I’m posting it here because my Mother beat Breast Cancer after a Double Mastectomy, so I’d also like to encourage everyone to please donate. Chances are, Cancer has touched just about everyone’s lives, whether that’s a family member, friend, colleague or acquaintance. Fuck cancer, FIGHT!! ❤️❤️❤️
    Anyways, excellent video as always, Christo! Hope to see you down in Bedford soon! 👍🏻😎

However, I cannot blame him. I sincerely hope all of your goals are met and that you and Chris have your dreams come true.

    Another great video. Reflectix isn't really an "insulation" unless used properly, and setting it up against the top walls isn't really the proper application - but that being said, I use it like that in my Jeep too and yes, it does help keep in some heat better than nothing. I might steal your ideal of Reflectix on the floor in your 'cubbies' for a project I'm working on. Great (and simple) idea. Oh, and here's a 'breakfast grilled cheese' sandwich for you to try sometime: th-cam.com/video/x27FGS4Adbc/w-d-xo.html

    • @venture4wd
      @venture4wd  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The Reflectix did help a little - mitigating drafts and whatnot - but I agree with your assessment. Thermal properties aside, it's really just a nice material to use for "stuff". Thanks for the breakfast grilled cheese!

    I love what you have done to the interior. Keeping the wood....wood....is really sharp. It makes it brighter on the inside. Reflectix. You can never have too much. Securing the load. I HIGHLY recommend that you look up a company called Stroud Safety, stroud safety.com. They custom make safety nets, (think NASCAR drivers door net). Custom made to color, shape, you name it. They are not very expensive. Get 1 or 2 of them in a couple of different sizes. Once you have one, you will NEVER figure out how you lived with out one. JEEP ON!!!!

      i saw you using the bungee cords to keep the bin from moving into the rest of the area have you thought about using a cargo curtain rugged ridge makes one so there must be a really cheap version out there i use one to keep my dog in the back of my jeep.

    Chris - im lovin the vids and vlog u have going on, its great inspiration for my JK here in Aus. I do worry about hiding away your recovery gear. Shouldnt this be one of the most easy accessable items?

    • @venture4wd
      @venture4wd  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Michael! I’ve been carefully considering this too, and tested accessibility just this morning. I actually need to remove very few items to reach the compartment; just my stove, camp chair, and awning room bag. This is a considerable improvement from before I installed the platform system! I agree it should be easy to access, and in the event of technical terrain, I’d likely ready my recovery gear in advance.

    After loading your jeep up, do you wish you had a went with the normal bed liner type covering of the wood, I am wondering if it is sliding all around when you are driving.?
    I really like the looks of this system, looks like it would be a perfect answer to folks who feel they don't have enough room in the jeep for the dogs and packing enough gear for a weekend trip or a long road trip. I really like it. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a blessed week my friend. What did you do with the big kicker box rear speaker you had, did you just remove it totally? Mine didn't come with one and I added the complete kicker system to my jeep, I have replaced all the speakers with kicker speakers and have the two amp system and 10" sub Kicker makes for our jeeps. I cant live with out it but it does take up some rear storage room. Keep up the fun videos my friend.

  • @jorgelrod
    @jorgelrod 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Chris, just started watching the video, haven't finished but I would recommend relocating the snatch strap from the rear compartment to under the passenger seat. if you ever get stuck in mud or something in the like. it would suck to have to take your bins out and put them in the mud to get to the snatch strap. Jut my $.02

    • @venture4wd
      @venture4wd  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm absolutely with ya, Jorge. In fact, my strap has been under the seat for the past two years for that very reason! I only needed it once, so this relocation is a calculated risk. I know it's going to be a pain when I eventually do need it. I appreciate your suggestion. :)

    sorry if i post this question to soon of if i had missed it but when you talked about the heat and reflective i was thinking why not get a Mr. buddy heater not saying to run it all night but might help

    • @hbalseiro
      @hbalseiro 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think he mentioned a Webasto being too expensive, but a Mr Buddy Heater would be cheap and I think it takes the same propane canisters as the stove... Seems like a good idea to me, especially in that kind of weather, but given that he opens the windows when he runs the stove, he may not be comfortable with a propane heater.

    One MUST organize and tie down equipment in preparation for an accident. Imagine heavy items crashing forward into the front seats. Think rollover as well. Also have your vital documents and other items (cell phone, wallet, etc) always secure in a daypack next to driver seat (even that secured down) so you can 'grab and go' after the accident without searching. Love your Jeep.
