Did I subscribe as soon as you started out by being high on my boys in Utah? Yes. Did I turn notifications on because you put them in the hunt watch? Absolutely 🔥
I do agree Freddie's a better goalie than what the Devils had but also the biggest difference in the quality of the goaltending is the difference in the defensive structure. The Devils goalies were bad and the team in front of them did them absolutely no favors either while Carolina makes life incredibly easy on their goalies.
Hot take Utah makes the playoffs. Stamkos has been in decline but Nashville opened up a two year window to do something, but stamkos may drop as soon as next season two good seasons the most. Father Time always wins
Tij Iginla won't play in the NHL until 2026-27 the earliest. He's incredibly young, is required to play 2 more years in the CHL before being AHL-eligible. He's a pick for the future, not for now.
It's not the best offseason. Noesen and Tatar are nice adds. They got a goalie (Markstrom could very easily fall off a cliff given age and him being bad 2 years ago). Keefe should be the biggest upgrade. Last years team desperately needed defensive structure. Getting older and more expensive for a lateral move going from Marino to Pesce was not good. Marino had a weak year last year but I 100% would've bet on a bounceback under Keefe. Pesce's also been playing in the literal perfect defensive environment for years so it'll be interesting to see how he looks out of Carolina. Signing him until he's 35 can go very wrong. There's real "defense Palat" potential here with that contract. Dillon's fine but 4 mil for 3 years for a 34 year old bottom pair D is not a good deal. A guy like Ian Cole is a better playdriver both ways and better puck mover and would've been on a better deal. The forward depth is still quite weak and the center depth in particular is brutal. There's only 3 real centers on the roster. Lazar's never been a full time center and he's going to have to play 4C. Mercer's the only guy that even has W/C versatility and he sucks in the middle. Moving on from your former 7th overall pick and one of your most efficient 5v5 producers without ever even giving him a shot with the guy you drafted him to play with for a fucking 4th liner is pathetic asset management. Sure the team is better but you really could've just ran it back with minimal changes outside of Keefe and Markstrom and they still would've been a better team. They far from maximized this offseason.

NJ had beat offseason and Hamilton didn’t play so add him as a extra dman added from last year
