Oilers in the short term might be better off if they shop well at the deadline. They can easily get 2 players that are better than these two right now.
Where's the cap space to sign two more better players?
@@Kurdem03 the deadline is about how much cap space you accrue. Oilers will have over 4m in capspace at the deadline. Easily enough to make two large moves.
@@Kurdem03 the CC trade wasnt to make cap space to match. It was to get under the cap so they can be large buyers at the deadline.
@Kurdem03 If its confusing, i get it. But being under the cap by a million without having to put Kane on LTR gives the Oilers a ton of options. They will have 4-5 million to play with at the deadline based on how teams accrue cap space through the season IF you are under the cap. That money they accrue they only pay 1/4 of any player they trade for at the deadline. Lots of options better than Holloway and Broberg.

Holloway is from BRAGG CREEK, Bob , not Fort Bragg.. two very different locations. One is AB, the latter is Cali.(@16:35 ish)

@@jean-paulmorin913 he didn’t want to sign a long term deal here because of family reasons. Maybe he’d like to chase a cup for a couple of months with a team that he knows and loves. He told Arvidsson to sign in Edmonton.
With his team history, countrymen; Janmark, Arvidsson & Ekholm + our contender status…he could find worse teams to play for.
@@loilt5091 and going to Seattle was one of the most team friendly things a UFA can do… the Oilers didn’t have to give up a player in the expansion because Larsson counted for them. No way that didn’t weigh partly on his decision to choose them.

It's because our Broadcasting system forces the radio to play 30% Canadian music so they just overplay the hell out of the Tragically Hip. We would rather hear Mathew Good or B-sides of April Wine, Triumph, Neil Young and others.
I miss when people had the class to go 30 secs when talking on a show without dropping F bombs as if that made their point valid.
I think we should see how they do on the ice before we predict problems with defense. This is still an elite team.

To counter Bob, Ceci has been -5 in the playoffs the last 2 seasons. And in 7 years in the playoffs he's only been a + once.
In terms of why Harley hasn't been given an offer sheet... it is probably because Nill has about 7 million in cap space in case it happens.

Should have kept Holloway. OK to let Broberg go. But Holloway is a pretty dynamic player. Definitely worth the +$2M. Bowman should have been a little sharper with Holloway.
Lotsa option variables when you’re a legit contender. Rentals abound, creative cap juggling factors with potential injuries, trades, personnel shuffling, etc..
