I've used these for years and they work great! Especially if you have a rudder! I've actually used mine to go upwind if you pull in the upper part from one side to the other (again with a rudder) you can sail almost as well as a traditional sail. BUY ONE AND STICK IT IN YOUR HATCH!
You tack to go against the wind..ziz zagging upwind. This will not tack because it's just catching the wind. A real sail is like an airplane wing and uses airflow to create high and low areas of pressure that kind of sucks you along. This looks great for going downwind and kind of tacking on a run, I'll have to give it a try, it does look like fun.
Pro tip: connect it to your PFD with a carabiner so you can adjust tension left or right, using your feet against foot stops or the sides, and your hands holding the paddle like a rudder, you can actually sail with what you have ;)
Omg my wife has brought me one for my kayak and paddleboard can not wait to try it out. Its gonna be so much fun. Brilliant video and review of it. You just made it more exciting for me when I get out on the water. I'm from cornwall uk. I started kayaking a year ago when me and the wife moved here and this will be Brilliant on windy days
@@tylerjames1716 An umbrella works too. I have done it several times. The only issue is that the umbrella may break apart or pop inside out if the wind is blowing hard.
Yeah, I bought one of these last week and after a few tries, it really seems like more trouble than it’s worth. Had hoped I’d be able to set it up and then be able to paddle while the wind assisted me, but keeping this out of the water takes as much effort as paddling, if not more. Still, kinda fun!
Of course it works. Lol! I had one on an Intex Challenger inflatable kayak. It was a lot of fun. But I will buy a better one later as the cheap ones don't last.
Looks great, as long as the wind is blowing the way you want to go 😊

Hey Manuel, do you have a video on how you use your sail?
pretty cool!, you should do some experiments and see if you can Tack with it? I wonder about incorporating some kind of tent pole or hiking pole ??

Mine came with para cord roping to intwine in through the loops on the outer end and for me to tie it down.

Looks like it would be easier just to hold an umbrella to catch the wind lol

I have one and haven’t used it yet but plan on doing so this weekend. I’ll give my opinion about it on Amazon.

Thanks for this! I will purchase one and give it a try!
Worth having on hand of the wind is ever in your favor at the end of a day. I’ll try it.
