Very cool to see your update after having the units for a while. I've been super happy with mine. I've found that it's been a lot easier than growing plants outside in the ground because I don't have to remember to water the plants, I just need to check on it every so often. With minimal input, I've gotten quite a few cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and greens. :)
I think the hardest thing is keeping up with harvesting. I never want to waste so chickens and worms get what we can’t eat. But if we don’t eat fast enough things like lettuce, arugula, basil, etc will bolt. But that’s a good problem to have. I’ll take having to much then not enough anyway! Thanks for watching
Honestly, thank you so much for making this video!!! This has been super insightful and I honestly might actually buy it. Thank you again for the video!
Thank you! Instead of dreading the first video or others I made I decided to honor them and bring them to the front in a different way. I always appreciate your support!
I want one ,but i dont want one! Ive been there done this before..a different but equally reputable brand. Hopefully, you continue to enjoy your hydroponic system.
Thanks for commenting. I have continued to use them now I believe going into year three. Still love them. I have tested many other systems and bar far this is my favorite. But now im reviewing all sorts of homesteading products. It’s been quite the journey. Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch. :)
You are welcome. I have lots of videos to help walk you thru. It’s funny how addicting this can all be. If you have any questions please post them on videos anytime. I always try and respond !
I used your coupon code. Thank you! I've watched all of your vids about the Iharvest and I'm so happy you have shared your experience with us! I can't wait to get started.
I love it. We just started a new kale harvest. I different variety. We eat a lot of it by putting it in the air fryer too for kale chips. So yum. Thanks for commenting! ❤️
Hi Angie! I love your reviews of the iharvest thank you for sharing your experience. Question; could you post a video of the sound it makes? The only such vid I've found, they have the cover off the nutrient tank so I don't think it's a great representation. I would think the lid would muffle it a bit. My front room is our den/reading room/ sitting room and "plant" room aka jungle room. I would like an iharvest in there but there is a limit how much noise I would find acceptable in that particular location. I hope you get this. Thanks again!
Thank you for your kind words. It’s hard to capture the sound with my good microphone. I can try on a future video. But I have two right in my dining room which is an open floor plan to the kitchen and living room. Neither my husband or I even notice them anymore. When you first start they will be louder as there are no plant roots. If you have lots of roots it muffles the sound. When I had my tomatoes because they were so large I didn’t even know when it was on. The kale was big and muffled. The lettuce I can hear but not as quiet as the larger plants. I also do not use the mesh (I have the old style and they have a new thicker one now) and even with that out of the system I don’t mind it. I would compare it to a shower running in the next room over when you first start with just seeds. But if I can capture the sound I will and can post it to my FB group as a reel which you can find here. m.facebook.com/groups/783424195642973/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF I will see what I can do
Sounds stupid but... I kind of want to get one and start growing flowers first and then move to produce later. I tried looking around but I saw quite a few Gardyn posts and TH-camrs who have grown flowers using Gardyn but none using iHarvest. In the end, it's all just plants so I'm sure you can also just grow flowers in them, right? Thanks!
Of course you can grow flowers! Grow whatever you like. Most people get them to grow food but a flower wall would be amazing. I have petunia in my aerogarden and really love them and thought maybe sometime doing a flower wall. Try it and let us know :)
The PH and nutrients should be taken care of by the unit... Odd that it seems none do, and they still use a dirty looking dirt substance. Maybe that's part of what makes the water gross? I wish they'd figure out an easy cleaning mode too.
What do you mean the nutrients should be taken care of by the unit? And the dirt looking substance meaning the rapid rooters? They are peat moss and coco coir and I like them much better then rockwool. In my opinion. The water being “gross” is just nutrient build up. I rinse the growing medias before using them and they are no different then an aerogarden pod really. If you get into cleaning modes and all that for the large units then you would be talking $1,000’s of dollars vs $100’s. I personally like how it’s still gardening. I want some control. But every year all the brands upgrade and make improvements. Who know what they will be like in 10 years. Maybe they will plant themselves 🤣
@@HomesteadingWithAngie I was thinking something along the lines of like a fish feeder type dispenser. You just chang the water and then it drops in the appropriate pellets, and tests it for you and adjusts the pH. Cleaning wise it looks like the version 3 of the garden can be disassembled pretty easily and put in the dishwasher. After learning about that, it seems easy enough. I've watched other videos though for different gardens and people say it will take 2 to 3 hours which is quite the time investment. I think I just need to find someone with a large unit like this nearby to mess around with. I'd pay quite a bit for a device that handled everything as much as possible besides root clipping, harvesting, and adding water... And even adding water, I'd be okay hooking it up to the fridge water supply and having it do that automatically too.
I have been using it for almost 4 years now with no issues and find it to be the best fit for me. It’s been a great nutrient. But appreciate the comments :)
Right? That's why I own two! im obsessed. I am looking at maybe adding one other brand style so I can do a comparison..... if I can find the room :) Thanks for watching!
Yes just post comments here. I should see them within a day. Thanks for the positive review of the videos. Let me know if I can answer any questions :)
Sweet content, Angie ! 👍🏻 You present everything in an understandable way for a 💯 NON "green thumb" guy like me 😄 Also, your video quality is impressive & inspirational, and I esp like how you integrate music & humor without those things distracting from the info you're conveying. Who knows - maybe in the future, if I have the space for an iHarvest, I'd consider one ! 😁
You can place it in a garage yes. As long as it’s not out in a deck or something. Some have them in sun rooms or porches. Just know that problems with bugs could be higher so you would want to keep an eye on the plants and treat accordingly. But many even have them in cooler basements. Just as long as it’s not OUT in the elements. I don’t see why not!
Thank you for all the info. Do you have any advice on plant choice when deciding what to grow together in one garden? I like a large variety, but I know different plants gave different growth speeds, sizes, and nutrient needs and such.
I recommend starting with things like lettuces, herbs, and maybe green onions. You can google search EC/PPM charts and try and keep them as close to each other as possible. Even if it’s off a bit they will be okay. But something like tomatoes and lettuce won’t be happy together. :)
Yes and No. sorry bad answer. Yes if you don’t want to have the best harvest you can. Some will do well and some will suffer. You have to look at what nutrients and Ph levels each plant needs. If they are close to each other they will do well. Strawberries need low food and Ph. Zucchini would need high. So herbs and lettuces do well and plants that flower like tomorrows, beans and peas, need a higher nutrient level. And once they flower you can change to a flowering fruit type food. By doing this and taking food too high you will make your lettuce burn out and get bitter. I have blended foods and they do okay but do better when they are all happy together. The best thing is to grow one “season or round” with ones that like each other, harvest, and do a different type for another season. Hope that all makes sense
@@HomesteadingWithAngie OH! Whew. That makes me feel better. We live in FL so anything that might increase tempature is a big NO GO for us. Hey since I got you do I have to leave the light on as much if I put the harvest in a sunny room with light from the windows?
Yes you should because window light is not direct light and it’s defused coming thru the glass. That’s why plants that like partial shade do well in a window. You could probably cut back the hours a bit maybe in the morning or later in evening but I would still shot for 10-12 hours of light maybe vs the 14-16. But they for sure need that direct simulated sun :)
You can do it. I learned too. Have hardened outside for years and after this I was in love with the process. Lots of videos to help and more to come. Thanks for taking the time to reach out and comment. And welcome to the Lettuce Head family! 🥬

Hey Angie, found a Clubhouse room full of Gardner’s and promoted your room to get you closer to 1,000…you deserve it
Awe thank you! I’m in a few huge garden groups but appreciate it as always!

That General Hydroponics is pretty low.Grade fertilizer high in heavy metals. You'll need to spend some more money on pharmaceutical grade nutrients.

Is this only for indoor use or could you put it in the garage, we live by the beach in a humid climate in SC.

I have more room inside! That’s dangerous! 🤣
Can you grow cucumbers, romaine, herbs, strawberries and zucchini at the same time in the i harvest?

Is the fan due to heat?
No. Lettuce likes a breeze. And many plants need it like wind. With them fighting the breezes it makes the stems stronger :)
