As a retired Af SF member with several combat tours. I have ALOT of respect for EOD. Better be ALOT harder than your average bear. Before you even think about EOD.

Awesome video! Is there enough content to make a video covering reserve vs. active duty EOD? Like what the differences are in training, day-to-day life, etc. I'm torn between reserve and active but am worried going reserve won't allow me to train enough to stay sharp. Thanks!

Heya, I'm on the fence about Air Force EOD or just going in as a maintainer, besides catching up on basic math and try to just retain knowledge the day of the test type mindset what other types of things should I do to get ready and to mentally prep myself if I do my research, also do you all use the bomb robot more often or is it most of the time in person infront of the ordenance with the bomb suit, I also hear so much confusion between people saying "it's no where near hurt locker!" To "it's exactly like hurt locker." From people in military and those who are not but most of them are not EOD.
Edit: finished the vid I feel a little bit dumb for commenting now but thank you for making this video it showed alot I wanted to know.

Go EOD if it's something you want to do. I've never met a maintainer who didn't hate their life and job.
Make sure you're in good shape. Learn how to be a good student. They'll teach you everything you need to know. If you don't make it, you can always reclass to a maintainer AFSC.
You'll use the robot, you'll use the bomb suit, and you'll approach ordnance/IEDs. It all depends on the problem at hand.

@@austinflynn1843 How do we study in the training at Eglin? I heard they dont let you take notes home or to the dorms. Its all off memory? My asvab was an 81 so I qualify to go for it!

how often do you guys train as "shooters" as opposed to just training with uxo or range clearances, or just doing sectional work?

We shoot the combat arms course of fire once a year to stay qualified and before we deploy/short tour. And then most shops will send a group to a cool guy shooting course once a year. Depends on the shop for the cool guy courses though. Alot of dudes shoot on their own for fun too if that's your thing. You won't find a shortage of recreational shooters in EOD.

Hey man, great video! It helped a lot and answered quite a few questions. There isn’t a whole lot out there on this sort of topic, so I wanted to say thank you. If a subscribe and a like helps you in any way, you’ve got it from me. Stay strong 🤙

Can Air Force EOD asses for the 724th or 17th STS, is there a Teir 1 or SMU EOD can asses for ?

Yes. Don't get your hopes up though. Selections are few and far between and they only pick up a few people at a time.

Recruiting website says age requirement is no older than 39 for air force but 30 for navy; does that make sense? Just turned 37. The age difference between the branches seems odd.

Could be wrong but I believe this is due to the dive school and airborne requirements for Navy EOD.

@@cav_ Special Ops in the air force like PJs also have dive school and airborne, and the cutoff on the website also says 39. Doesn't make sense for that to be the difference between the two branches
