  • Everybody needs a good dump runner, right? Personally I choose to stack them up like cord wood, but that’s beside the point. This half ton, extended cab, 318 four speed powered, part time 4x4 veehicle is pretty awesome at all sorts of things - and I have some things in mind.

    I'm never bored or disappointed in your videos Dude.
    I want to thank you very much for your channel and sharing your knowledge and experience with these old Mopars. You've given me alot of help already. Lord-willing, in a couple of weeks, a "4 color" '83 D150 w/ slant 6, 4 speed o/d will become my daily driver. You're helping me make that a reality. I don't have to drive as much these days, BUT, I'm depending on this truck.

    Not the 1st time the term 'Adventurer' as Desoto carried that name on their performance model. The 1957 with the 345 2 4v hemi producing 345 hp is particularly desirable.

    This one is a beauty! Any other videos on this one in the works? A Holley carb swap? I’ve been restoring a ‘79 power wagon (full time 4x4) since April. Almost road ready but not a show piece, just the right amount of rust removed

    • @DeadDodgeGarage

      Nice! I had a ‘78 W200 single cab big block truck which I loved. Actually I’m a pretty firm believe in Carter/Edelbrock carbs for daily drivers. I do have some ideas for the truck. Probably won’t get to do much with it in the near future but hope to at some point.

    A long time ago, I got a '73 Power Wagon from a junk yard. Had no reverse. Cost $100 bucks. Had it 7 years. Fixed the trans. Worked it for years. The Carter 2bbl is the WORST carburetor ever made. Went thru 5. That 4wd , with bald tires went through 4' of snow like it was rain! My kids loved it! 318, 727, 205 and 3:90's !!!

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Nooo! I love those BBDs. They leak fuel from worn throttle shaft bushings and occasionally have needle and seat issues, but I’ve had great luck with them overall. The worst carburetor ever made distinction belongs squarely to the Holley 1920 single barrel…

    • @Peter-vn6gl
      @Peter-vn6gl 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DeadDodgeGarage never had one of those. So I must stand on the Carter 2bbl. Had 'em new, used and rebuilt. They never lasted long. Different issues but always let me down. But what a combination of a drivetrain!

    Sweet truck. I got a 78 Club W150 I converted to 3/4 ton, 4 speed, 205 tcase from a 74 donor. Did a front disc brake conversion with GM parts. Yours must be an early 74 with it having the part time 4x4. About mid 74 they went to the full time 4x4 with small bolt pattern wheels.

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok that’s making some sense. I thought my ‘75 single cab short bed W100 had 5x4.5 wheels like my ‘79 D100 and I was surprised to see the larger pattern on this one. The little decal that says to unlock the hubs at highway speeds shows a Warn style hub, so I’m assuming these funky units are aftermarket.
      I’m really liking the ride of the 100. I think the extra wheelbase and weight must help because my ‘75 didn’t ride like this one. My dream is a club cab long 3/4 ton with a Cummins and a stick… I think I’ll leave this one as it is and keep looking. Friend actually had a disk brake axle for it, and I decided against keeping it because it looked heavy. Perhaps I should reconsider.

      Original seats and door panels were supposed to be black as witnessed by the rear cab panels and the black jump seats, and the truck I have actually wanted to find is a 75 dodge d200 or maybe a w series but it doesn't have to be, club cab long bed 3/4 ton in decent shape, small block Chrysler 318 and the automatic transmission or 4spd standard shift transmission im not really concerned about...

      Really close! But I dream of a three quarter ton Cummins truck. Otherwise, this is exactly it, and honestly, I almost like this more. It rides great being a half ton. Fuel mileage is going to suck, but since it costs significantly less than a Cummins, I think I can afford some fuel.
