I remember when my buddy and I were punching lily pads with jigs. We caught a lot of nice bass and to our surprise the bass were feeding on crawfish in the lily pads. I expected them to be feeding on bluegill. Bass will always surprise you.
I've been tying jigs for 40+ yrs. and you just taught me a new trick. I never thought of using "O" rings for on the boat skirt making. Have you ever thought of making a video about catching crawdads, crayfish, etc. on your local lake just to inform your viewers of another way of getting an idea of the skirt colors? Just a thought.
My go to grass jig is the All Terain Grassmaster. One of the only jigs with a straight hook. Check em out sometime… Isn’t it too fun to make your own rigs to match the hatch!!! Love it.
I really like and appreciate how your videos are getting more and more exciting, but informational at the same time. No this wasn't an "exciting" video, but it is a great video! Not everyone can afford all of the high priced fishing stuff so anytime you can save a buck or two and save a little bit of time it's a win/win in my opinion. Some people don't like to DIY, but that's how new things come about in quite a few instances. Thanks dude!! You're killing it!! Keep up the great work!! Guntersville is one of my favorite lakes. Haven't had the opportunity to go back there in way more years than I want to admit. Beautiful fishery and the people are amazing!! Fish on brother!!
I love the skirt making tube tool, it works great for all my jig making needs. I've seen your home setup for custom jig tying, if I had different materials like flashy tinsel or living rubber I'd get one for the detailed stuff.but for up to 3 layer skirts it's awsome. Go MBRF 💥 🎣 ✌️.
My pet bass in my 150 gal aquarium had a full diet of creek minnows. Till the grand kids brought over a bunch of soft shell crawdads, all were normal green colors with brownish claws. I added 50 into the water, and he went crazy eating them after a week he started spitting up the remaines, claws, back shells, skeleton parts. And they were mostly red and orange brown in color. So it's after they were dead that the bones change colors. My experience in the aquarium.
Mikey give this a try get a bottle of black spike it crawfish or garlic a Q tip and Bloch your kamoto give it a Dalmatian look. On your skirt tool you are pulling it the wrong way pull it from the o ring end also try splitting your skirt pads in half and stacking them alternate your colors it will also pull easier.
Hey, Midey! If you use some "personal lubricant" ; a drop at the top of the skirt pads, will let those 60 strand skirt runs slide up through the tube more easily.
I’ve heard the stomach acid in the fish’s stomach turns crayfish red. But I couldn’t tell you if that is true or not. I have done well on Guntersville with red baits.
The crayfish are orange from the heat in the bass stomach same as when you cook shrimp or lobster. They’re like a green pumpkin and orange when cooked. My thought.
With bigger weights 1 stopper has a good chance of falling off. 2 stoppers keeps you from having to retie if 1 falls off or gets burned up on your line
Mike I'm not ball busting, the small metal hook for the skirt tool goes in the other side of the plastic tube so you don't have to pull the skirt all the way through the tube. I wanted to tell you last time you did a skirt video but forgot. Thanx Mike.
If you don’t want to rip that skirt material as you pull it through you just gotta HAWK TUA and SPiT on tHaT THaaaaaaNG!!! Hahaha! really though, a little saliva and it slides right through.
I've been doing my own jig skirts since your last jig skirt video and the results have been great!!!

Dip them craws Orange, and you nailed it...!
I think I have found my next hobby. Love the end results

Hey Bog!
Slick stuff Mikey.
Thanks for the hack. Good idea, appreciate it.
Nice tips I will have to give this a try
You got me wanting to start making skirts and custom jigs homie!

Id suggest a D&M Mat Rat Punch Jig in Delta Craw with the black & red fleck trailer. You can get it in a 3/4 oz up to a 2 oz.
I would try the red and orange together
Match the hatch is great if you have clear water.
Awesome thank you !!
Man that looks nice.
Good stuff Mikey
Use the skirts you showed last for better mimic of the craw your showed
What's your thoughts on the TVA and others with the plans to battle the eelgrass issues on the lake?
Skirts unlimited really should call that (red/green/black) skirt the Freddy Krueger (sweater)
Crush City Bronco Bug is 🔥and the tentacles float so they stay off the bottom

That jig ended up looking pretty good. I'll take 5 of them. Just kidding, thanks for the info and have a good day.

I like the personal lubricant touch LOL you are spot on though that's a good idea
Do the crawfish change color there...at different times??
Almost at 100k subs!
What did you catch the craw fish FISH on
Strike King Rodent in California Craw. You might can find it in the rage craws and others as well. Black,Red Flake. Youll like it.
Now are you talking about Lake Guntersville or Down home in Lake Placid or Lake June???
Your dog in the background 😂

Alabama craw in Googan Squad bandito bug and for more red with fire craw
Can’t tell you how many I’ve caught on the black red flake punch skirt with a black red flake Chigger craw
I think the jig an trailer look really close to that red mudbug.
I just sent you a venmo for 5 of those. I need them by Friday.
Dude that wasn’t a craw. That’s a Lobster!😮
Why 2 bobber stops on your punch rig?
With bigger weights 1 stopper has a good chance of falling off. 2 stoppers keeps you from having to retie if 1 falls off or gets burned up on your line
i’m saying a top half of the jig grey bottom of the skirt fully red with a red watermelon craw trailer ouuuuii
Mikey I would color the two tips at the end of the Komodo with spike it markers.
Thanx Mike, good stuff but craws aren't that color. They come out of the bass belly that color. There are craws with red though, so rock on.
