I have been thinking about this concept of using a Go To mounted scope with a laser to help aim a larger Dob mounted scope and now you have shown thay it works. Brilliant, Thanks very much. Like you I find star hopping very difficult.
The biggest issue is getting laser pointers that continue working. I advise to always buy or order from somewhere easy to return it if it starts malfunctioning, which they frequently do.
I've tried that. It worked OK on a small 80mm F5 refractor, but never worked well on the big Dob, or any of my other larger scopes. Just wasn't accurate enough.
You realize a laser that's ¼ at the source is several feet in diameter 6 miles away by the plane. They won't even know it was shining on them they flit past it so fast
For the price of the two, you can just buy a Orion XT10i push to

Or just add the Romer Optics for GoTo
¡It's a great idea! I have a small Tasco 80400 goto refracor telescope, and recently buy a Oriox XT8. Thanks.
wonder if mounting a phone with the stellarium app and find the object you wanna look at and find it that way instead of a lazer

Why have one when you can buy two at twice the price! This guy must be a government contractor.
This is literally the dumbest set up ever... lol
