    Jay Leno has a Shell Pink I957 Imperial Crown Coupe he calls "The Old Girl", which is gorgeous just like this one. My great-grandmother had a 1959 Imperial LeBaron Sedan she kept until her passing in 1992. My Dad owns the car as we speak and it too is stunning.

    WOW what a beauty.
    A green sedan has no right to be sooo stunning!
    Every detail down to the *very subtle* point on the rear of the tiara.
    The buyer won’t know whether to drive it or put it in the living room. ✨💫

    Thanks for posting this video and not referring to this car as a 1957 Chrysler Imperial as many other people erroneously do. 1957 was the best sales year Imperial had as a separate make, and with that styling, I can see why.

    Whoever owned this beauty, knew the LOVE Chrysler designers/builders put into it. The chrome perfectly accents the Emerald Green. I have always loved Imperial's . The name says it ALL. We NEED that font of optimism and those lovely subtle touches of elegance & beauty. the styling is very well proportioned and balanced. Thanks Charles for a wonderful video!

    Arguably the best car you could buy in 1957. The engineering was far superior. Fun Factoid that's 100% true. After a while, demolition derbies started adding a footnote: "NO IMPERIALS." They were so sturdy that they usually won.

  • @SuperCommando60
    @SuperCommando60 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Well. Really doesn't get better. This is just everything. Also, once the glass suppliers figured out how to do compound curves, the car manufacturers went crazy with the bubble windshields and backlites...augmented on this car with the curved side glass...so much style it hurts

  • @anthonys_expired_film
    @anthonys_expired_film 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    This car has the earliest example of curved side glass. All cars up to this point and through 1964 were all straight side glass. A true classic. 🥇

    • @terry94131

    • @trudygreer2491

      The 1961 Lincoln had curved side glass, which "went straight" in '64, to reduce costs..

    @johnellis2347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Stunning!!!. First year for Imperials own body and what a body! Upsetting quite a few, top speed was faster than fuel injected Corvettes. First year the name Crown was used other than limos. Hence famous Crown Coupe.

    Actually an Imperial Crown Southampton. "Crown Imperials" were the limos built by Ghia in Italy - with an original list of 12,000, quickly raised to 15,000 - 2.5x to almost 3x this car. Total nitpick, I know. Still, it's very impressive and 1957 was Imperial's strongest challenge - and the only time it came as close to Lincoln. Yes, Cad production nearly doubled the others, but it was their biggest scare of the era and they would not see this threat again domestically for another 30 some years. Really is beautiful.

    To answer a question about this gorgeous car, dual headlamps we're an option on serveral cars in 57 as some states had not yet approved of them, so with quad lights they could only be shipped to states that allowed them.

    I MUST CORRECT YOU...
    The following year, 1958, Chrysler commissioned the Ghia limousine company of Turin, Italy to make a few stretch Imperial limousines. At $15,000 they were expensive. But the limousines were known as Crown Imperials. The production sedan, like this bad boy, was an Imperial Crown.

  • @OsbornTramain
    @OsbornTramain ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love love love your channel......Hate correcting you because I respect you so much.......It's an Imperial Crown South Hampton, not a Crown Imperial South Hampton. The "Crown Imperial" name only applys to the Ghia built limos built in Italy for Imperial, those stretched beauties are known as Crown Imperial.....This is a Imperial Crown and the South Hampton denotes it's hardtop styling rather than being a Sedan. The LeBaron is the other model offered. Just to get terminology correct, it can be confusing.
