  • Dryer not working , main control panel bad connection check control board. The dryer is 5 years old has been running good for a year and a half since fix.
Work on your dryer at your own risk. please know what you are doing.
UNPLUG DRYER WHILE WORKING ON IT.
update keep your dryer top surface clear of anything on top of it. This allows the heat not to be trapped between drum and dryer top which can heat up the control board.
Update I have noticed that if one keep setting on auto sensing as the dryer gets older the dryer can run far more longer than its suppose to thus overheating and making a high amount of heat thus connection gets burnt out. I use Timed drying to play it safe instead of Auto setting. My fix will be going on since October 2013

Your video was so helpful, I am not sure words will do justice. At home with three little ones, loads of laundry and no dryer. Panic set in. Thanks to your video, I was able to pull the dryer apart, repair and restart in an hour...by myself! Called for repair and was told I couldn't get a tech visit for 3 weeks! You saved the day Mr. Vassallo!!! :)

We received an F01 code on our duet dryer. Silly us thought we would call a service guy out who would solder it for us since we had no soldering experience. He came, never took a single panel off or unplugged the dryer. He turned on the dryer, received the F01 code, and he said it would be roughly $362 to repair it because it needed a new board. I told him no thanks, and he left with our $65 service call fee. My husband and I drove to town, bought a $10 soldering kit at Northern Tool, brought it home, sanded the spot, soldered it (again, neither of us have experience), put everything back together, and it worked perfectly. We had already taken the board out; however, we drove to town and back, soldered, and put everything back together in 40 minutes. $10 vs $362 vs new dryer. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!! We are now subscribed.

Same problem for me, same pin, same burn spot. Never had a successful solder before, but had an old iron and solder in the garage. This was the easiest solder to make. Plenty of room to work and didn't have to be precise. Worked like a charm. Thank you!

We did this and our dryer is now working again!! Such a relief! We just had our washer and dryer both break down in August so I was not happy when our new (but gently used) dryer stopped working on Thursday. But we watched your video and did it all like you showed and it took about 40 minutes and now it is working. Thank you for sharing this trick. It was a life and money saver!

My Whirlpool Dryer just had the f-01 code and I looked for a video like yours as the last result. I couldn't believe I saw the same issue. I cleaned the area, applied flux and soldered with 6337 solder. The fix was a success saving two hundred dollars or an 80 dollar send out the board to be repaired. Thanks...

George Vassallo Hi George - I followed your video to the letter. My board didn't have an obvious burn mark like yours did. I found the solder you fixed your board on my board. My board's solder seems a bit worn down but not burned. Any chance it might be a different solder giving me the F-01 code? Any other suggestions from you or anybody else here would be really appreciated. Thanks

George, thank you for the instructions. The repair worked for me on a Maytag Epic Z that was purchased in 2009 or so. The only concern was the solder would not spread very well. I did very lightly sand the connection and used rosen core solder.

I had the same error code and when I got to the control board it had the same burn mark. Thank you sooo much for saving me money and frustration. Such a simple fix, but I wouldn't have thought of it! My dryer is 8 years old and this is the first problem I've had with it. thanks again!

Thanks so much for the fix - save me $387! Seems like a design flaw that Whirlpool has to be aware of...probably programmed to blow out after a few years to keep us buying parts. Also have read that heat build up could contribute to it so we will also not be storing items on the top of the dryer anymore.

    • @GeorgeVassalloJr
      @GeorgeVassalloJr  8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Chad Miller update keep your dryer top surface clear of anything on top of it. This allows the heat not to be trapped between drum and dryer top which can heat up the control board.Update I have noticed that if one keep setting on auto sensing as the dryer gets older the dryer can run far more longer than its suppose to thus overheating and making a high amount of heat thus connection gets burnt out. I use Timed drying to play it safe instead of Auto setting. My fix will be going on since October 2013

Great video. Had the F01 code. Took it apart and sure enough, it needed to be soldered. $26 for the soldering iron and solder versus $300 for the control board or $700 for a new dryer. Dryer is working and the repair took less than an hour.

Boxing day 2017. The dreaded F01 alarm appeared on my dryer. Thanks to the maker of this video it is back working in 2 hours. I spent most of that time tying to get the dryer vent reinstalled. Stuns me why I see 31 dislikes in the voting area. Do they dislike life in general? Great video!!!!!

Problem was exactly as described. The repair worked like a charm only I used a brass wire brush for electrical connection cleaning & my Weller soldering gun. The connector on mine for the red & black power connections to the control board was very difficult to remove - afraid I would break something else trying to disconnect it but "gentle" perseverance pays off. The only down side to this repair was that the wife had her heart set on a new drier. She kept saying "let's go look for a new one" while I was affecting the repair...

Thanks you very much George. Came back from Toronto to Montréal at night my wife was waiting to get it fixed after she called Maytag service. Over the phone service said it was a fuse on our electric panel. When I reached home at 9h30pm and tried what service said. I look at your video and my wife was drying childrens clothes at 10h10pm. You save me time - money and I got an happy wife. Many thanks
