Damn, thats a great catch there. I totally missed that. I rearmed them instinctively just in case something else was spooking around there, but now some poor dockhands have to unload those when we couldve enlisted the help of the Japanese there. My bad man, that was a good opportunity.
As someone who absolutely hates taking losses in this game (or in any game for that matter), I couldn't help but cringe at the 45/65 aircraft lost. I saw when you clicked the DD as a target and I was like "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"🤣🤣🤣 Man, Kongo was-a burning!!!! Beautiful TBF strike. As far as winning the game, what exactly will stop you once you finish off the IJN. You have already sunk ships that were active until 1945. All they will have left are a few CAs/CLs/DDs and the Big boys of the Yamato class. And youre just getting ready for BIG influxes of CVs/BBs/CAs/CLs/and a ton of DDs.
No, youre right. It was not an Unryu, it was Soyru. The painted deck completly threw me off there. I used the bowshot to see if the funnel was flayed to starboard, which would've been Taiho. Jumped to a conclusion there, sorry fellas. That was a crappy shot too. I thought I was closing the angle, but was not as I misjudged the speed. Regardless, we wont see her back for a bit now. I'll take it!
And as to winning, yeah. Time to shift to a higher gear here. We can keep a buzzsaw spinning near Milne, but its time to get ADM Kelly spooled up here.
Absolutely an Unryu. For some reason the ID model is of the Hiryu, no surprise given the Unryus were modeled off the Hiryu but Op. Magazine treats them just a little differently.
They really ought to reduce the effectiveness of the Japanese AA. I don’t think a task force centered around a Kongo would be able to take out 45 American planes without fighter cover.
There is no doubt that Japanese AA in this game is significantly more effective than what they fielded during the war. Especially at this early in the conflict. Plus their ship's abilities to shrug off so many shells and remain in the fight is amazing. To sum up....The Game Obviously Cheats!
If you place your planes close together in a bunch - you would have the AA focus on one spot - and every time a plane is hit its shrapnel would damage the planes close to it. Kind of like dominoes. Not the best way to attack but the best way to lose a lot of planes. It's better to have flights of 3 SBDs attacking from 24 different directions and make the ships with AA chose what to shoot. It was like closed rank infantry charging a battery of 24 lb cannons firing grapeshot. A slaughter
Game does cheat, but I cheat it too. IRL, the IJN would be much less prepared for AA defense than they are now, but I've chewed them down to CLs that wouldnt be around for another year, at least. Those DP guns make a difference, and most IJN escorts did not have those for a while. That being said, it's time to flip this flapjack. Flak or not, the avalanche of the USN is about to break here...

My gaming system took a lighting strike so no WOTS for me until I get it back up and running. So nice video, but why attack in Mass making all your planes one focus for all the enemy gunners? Also I saw that DD target misclick when you did it and very frustrating did not know weather to laugh or cry when you did it. As a navy guy I have to say the best part of the game for me is attempting to use some tactics that may have been used in a real war scenario. The loss of life is for sure a tragedy when watching bad tactics.
Those are nicely done in this game, but just dive in there dude! Best way to learn to fight is to start throwing punches at dudes who punch back. Doesnt always go well, lol...but fun!

OKAY! Never send cavalry unless supported by infantry "N. B." Bunching up your SBDs made them easy targets. If I have 24 planes coming in from 8 attack zones (flight of 3), you will have to cover all 8 attack zones. If you send 24 planes in from one direction, bunched together, all the IJN guns are aimed at one spot - and every plane downed will damage other planes close to it. The first attack on a well-formed TF was a slaughter. Sending your torpedo planes in first, on a well-formed TF, is a NO-NO. You should suppress the IJN AA first with SBDs before sending in the torps.
