    Ancient man: throw a rock at it
    Modern man: throw a rock at it
    Future man: throw a rock at it
    Death: *face palming that it’s champions are a band of murder monkeys that have never found a better solution than just throwing more and more dangerous rocks at something*

    So command, the human have a new interesting weapon. It worked fantastic and if we could copy it, it would save tons on munitions costs. Also I would heavily advise never ever considering going to war against the humans.

    Humans are very good at throwing rocks at things. Didn't even have to chase this one down until it gave up.

    I like seeing other forms of weaponized drones and swarms thereof, a toolbox that people are not nearly imaginative enough to use to the fullest.

    those are some pretty good sensor readings if they can throw a bunch of rocks and hit a ship as it drops into real space.

    Anyone gonna point out a weapon like this will create an absolute ton of celestial hazards? They are moving things from a stable orbit of a sun to plummeting through space. Possibly hitting planets or other celestial objects. With time, you could very well kill more then one bird with those stones.

    This is actually a really stupid idea for a weapon.
    Like, the amount of energy to redirect a friggen asteroid would be insane, and then you gotta, ya know, not let the damned thing collide with a planet or something afterwards.

    • @GrimpakTheMook
      @GrimpakTheMook 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Depends on how easily available the fuel is and how efficient the engines are. If all you need is fuel, then you can forgo quite a lot of ammo and weapons, freeing up space for more fuel

    • @asurasyn
      @asurasyn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GrimpakTheMook conversely, since it's entirely dependent on knowing exactly where and when the enemy will be, you could just mine the area and wait.

    • @GrimpakTheMook
      @GrimpakTheMook 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@asurasyn that also means bring your own ammo.
      It is, to note however, that this is an experimental ship. In many cases experimental vehicles don't get to go further than field testing. A "war thug" like this does have limitations, specially considering that it needs an asteroid pocket to be of use offensively.
      As is, it's little more than a experimental weapons testbed.

    • @noppornwongrassamee8941
      @noppornwongrassamee8941 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GrimpakTheMook Was it any different here? The "ammo" in this case isn't just the asteroids, but also the tugs that threw the asteroids. You can't always rely on having asteroids close enough, and the story suggests you don't usually get 4 hours warning of where the enemy will drop out of FTL. The more I think about it, it probably would have been more mass efficient for a ship to carry mines, missiles, or just dumb bullets and shoot them an emergence point from long range with their own guns rather than carry a bunch of tugs. Since you know when and where a ship will drop out of FTL in advance, bushwacking ships just as they appear with timed weapons fire should have long since been standard tactics in this universe. After all, if you can hit an arriving ship the moment it appears with rocks, you should be able to do the same with bullets, missiles, or even lasers

    • @GrimpakTheMook
      @GrimpakTheMook 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@noppornwongrassamee8941 well, you don't really need the thugs for every bit of the path. Space battles might be taken over a huge field so all you need is a push, so you only need thrust for a bit and decouple yourself from the rock.
