Nice powersupply, but for $200USD + $10S/H and "only" 5A max output, this is not worth it. This could be easily made using an esp32 with a buck/boost converter and all the other gear for a fraction of the cost. The fancy case and the software is not worth the advanced cost.

I highly recommend watching Marco Reps YT Vid where he tears one of these things down, and you will see that it would cost a whooolllle lot of $$ to build one yourself to the specs that this thing has.
I have 2 myself actually, and one of them I pretty much only use for powering guitar effects pedals (by far the quietest PS I’ve ever tried...) and can be powered off of a laptop charger or USB C or whatever the hell you want basically, even works great with power banks...
It might just seem like a fancy box (certainly does look fancy LOL) but it is much muchhh more than that, and honestly a marvel in engineering without question. It is so small, it doesn’t make sense how good it is really and the specs are not BS
I know it’s not for everyone, but there is definitely a lottttt of Potential uses for this thing and no one will design something not only better but more portable than this unit

I just wanna mention that I found this set (MDP XP) and the individual unit (MDP P905) for MUCH cheaper than Banggood by going to AliExpress. I *did* take advantage of 11.11, but it looks like the prices are *still* not much higher than I paid. (Have to search around and find the right seller)
No BS, I paid $126 for the paired unit and $106 for an additional P905, got my units shipped to me in CA with basic/free shipping in less than 3 weeks. Just putting that out there so ppl know to look around

It certainly _looks_ nice, but the terminals on the sides eliminates a lot of the space savings, as you can't place anything beside it. It's also pretty expensive for it's capacity. The unit shown at 0:40 looks to be a much more economical unit, and by simply redoing the case, could be made stackable. The module would sit beside two vertically oriented banana sockets, in the standard width, to support dual banana plugs. That's another thing about this unit... Non-standard power output banana spacing. Regarding the main power switch, just add it horizontally and add a little width, or have one master power switch to control them all, and have a base unit that sits at the bottom with the switch only, to power all the other units on and off.

I like it mostly for the multiple power units that can be controlled from the one head unit. If the power it outputs is clean enough then I see it as a big leap forward from the more expensive multi output power supplies.

@@miniware Since you guys seem to be the manufacturer of the product. You may what to reevaluate the pricing, as you could sell way more if priced more within reason. As far as the price/performance ratio of the MDP-XP can be assessed. My answer is that this power supply is too expensive for what the device performs and only being single channel. In terms of specifications similar power supplies are for sale for prices around $80 to $90. The MDP-XP is in my opinion is more of a gadget then a tool. People are way better off spending the money on a Rigol, or other power supply, especially if they need more then one output. As this thing would cost $680 if you want triple channels?
If it was battery operated, or was lower wattage and can be used using a external battery setup, then could justified the purchase.

  • @6935g

I prefer my Rigol dp832 supply, but for a portable solution it looks like a good choice. My only concern is, that you'll need an external powerbrick for that. Btw, can it boost the input voltage as well? And if you use a lot of power, with a switching mode powerbrick, wouldnt it have a lot of ripple on the output? Yeah, it uses linear regulation, but if you use a switching supply to supply this regulstor, it will kill the entire linear behavior of it. Correct me, if I am wrong.

Since almost 2 years MiniWare (and thus Banggood) promises to make available additional tips for their TS80 USB-Soldering Iron. Customers who paid a considerable price for that iron are still stuck with those just 2 available.
Instead MiniWare seems to have invested huge efforts and resources into the development and launch of this new gadget of yet questionable broad requirement. And again their marketing start to spread promises of allegedly additional great modules for this this thing to come out.
I'm afraid that with this product, again, a lot of people will invest a rather high price, hoping for promised accessories to come out, but which will never show up.
Meanwhile I'm really disappointed by this manufacturer...

    • @thetechgenie7374

Yep that pretty much sum up most Chinese manufacturers unfortunately. They push out product and but lack real support, or promised accessories. It all about hyping up a product and then coming out with a new overpriced product pretty much sums up MiniWare. I bought the TS80 and very disappointed in lack of tips availability as other are. I going to actually mod a KSGER solder station to run off 18650's cells with BMS balancing to charge and use it to replaced the TS80. Then at least I can use Hakko T12, or T15 tips. To me will be much more useful.

  • @UpcycleElectronics

Wow. Where do I get that interface hardware, cheap? I've seen rotary encoders on AliEx like the one they used on the corner, but the ones I've seen didn't have the LED and transparent roller wheel. I've never seen 4mm banana jacks like these. I would soo use those in a project.
I like the idea and functionality of this supply, but that packet load driver setup is very concerning for security reasons. I'm certainly not someone that should worry about security like this. What are they going to steal, my super secret 1970's LM317 power supply designs? I imagine I'm not the only person that has interests in hobby electronics AND family around that would be a security concern. I bet this kind of household relationship is actually common. I don't think I'll be embedding a trojan and running their hex file like this unless the source is available and can be checked by people far smarter than myself. I'm no digital security expert, but I think this type of USB payload is like handing them keys to the mansion.
    Thanks for the upload.
    -Jake

    • @ThomasCouey
      @ThomasCouey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It's not using a driver, it's just showing up as a mass storage device, like any USB flash drive. Shouldn't be any security issue there, but if there were some executable or something on there you'd probably see it, and Defender would most likely catch any malware if you did accidentally run something malicious off the "drive."
