I have a Cheagle. He’s a bouncy, playful and affectionate little fella, but he’s as stubborn as a mule and selectively deaf! Training him will be much more challenging than training my previous pups - Sheltie, Spaniel, German Shepard’s. He’s unlikely to make the grade in obedience, he’s a bundle of joy and worth

OMG. It must be super cute. If you are having challenges with your Cheagle, I can help you. The obedience class would be the wrong step to take in this case. Care to hop on a free video call to see if we can work together? If yes, set it up here: rb.gy/42c0y5

Funny that when Ruby gets to the end of her line and I say no, she comes back towards me. Getting closer. I’ve noticed how she seems to know how long a leash she is on and acts accordingly. Thank you🙏🏽❤️

I agree with the food. When i have tried outside to get monty to come to me outside with treats outside is far more important.

Excellent advice, fortunately my boy is so good on coming back for potatoes, he always returns when I call spuddy buddy!!!! However I think it is more the fact he did both his cruciate ligaments in over two years and I sat with him constantly for 36 weeks, I disappear now and panic sets in!!!! Never thought I would get another, he is ten now getting old, met someone with a 13 inch one a few weeks ago, unlike me has had no problems, would you recommend now I have learnt most of the pitfalls???? I am 67 but fit for my age????

On Joseph, my beagle is 10 weeks old. We just came home from shopping. We are very cold and very hungry. He was very excited and rambunctious. The first thing I did was feed him his second meal for the day. He is much to young and excited to do anything but feed him

Our 15 week old Whoodle, likes to chew on us….our clothes, hands, arms, and when we say “NO”…he lunges for our faces. I pick him up for a “time out” in his pen when he gets too wild. Now, he runs when he senses I am going to pick him up and put him in his pen. It’s getting worse. He’s controlling us. He’s not our first puppy. I’ve owned pups, (Keeshond, Yorky, Lhasa, and now Whoodle), since 1971 and bred dogs for a couple of years. He’s different, very, very hyper and mouthy. Help.

I know right out of the gate you won't agree. I had a trainer and he used shock collars on all his beagles and best trained beagles I've ever seen. I did also. you can set intensity. I very rarely need to use the shock but put it on as she knows. no problem with recall with on or off. when she was young it saved her life. better an obedient dog than a dead one.

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining  ปีที่แล้ว

May I ask, why did you have the desire to use the shock collar and would you have used it if you knew that it is possible to get the same or better results (using my dog training method) without using the shock collar?

@@SaroDogTraining I live in a very small town. Many places to free run my beagle.she gets to run ,smell, and sniff her heart out. Also live in apt. Has a backyard and people and dogs around a can free run her in a small space. I'm sorry but having been tangled up in a long leash is dangerous and no beagle walks a straight line like your videos show. Beagles need a ton of exercise and leash walking isn't enough. If properly used and a trainer teaches you they are great. I would not suggest it for someone that uses it for every bad behavior. I only use it for free run. Can't remember the last time I had to shock and only use what they call a nic setting. My beagle gets 2 hours of hard free running and fetching time everyday. She's a joy to watch. I only see on your videos a well trained beagle . My beagle is well trained, happy should send you a video of her running her heart out, but coming back on command. No doubt your a good trainer, but like I said your videos only show a well trained beagle. Final answer yes I would use a shock collar .

Also moved from the country to an apt. Have 3 flights of stairs to walk up and down. I'm 69 years old and can't have her pulling and barking. She knows command to wait and no barking. Also sit and down. She's kennel trained . Has no separation anxiety. Plus use treats. She runs so much she wears it off and is calm and well exercised and that is the key. She is a year and half and full of energy. I cannot stress enough to people how much exercise they need daily and all bad behaviors cease on there own.

Hi. My 14wk beagle puppy (who is probably a mix with some sort of terrier) is EXTREMELY hyper and constantly nipping the entire time you are with him. I have tried bite inhibition but nothing works with him. Is this normal? Will he calm down when he is older or will he always be so hyper and destructive? Thanks

I can only speak of my two beagles. I don’t know about other beagle’s behavior. Mine are both from a breeder who has been breeding champion hunting dogs for fifty years. People from all over the world are on years long waitlist for one of his dogs.
He’s a family friend, so we were able to get one three years ago, and another one a year ago (even being friends, it was a year wait for each pup).
We got the dogs as pets, they’ve both been neutered. We bought them from this breeder because we know and trust him. He’s spent fifty years breeding the dogs to be as healthy as possible and to have good dispositions.
We never had any intention of using them to hunt, only as pets. But, we had no idea how innate and imbedded their hunting instinct would be.
They both go insane when they see a rabbit outside. When they are outdoors they immediately hit on a sent and nose down track the rabbit. Hell, you can just quietly say the word “rabbit” when they are in the house, and their heads pop up and go on a swivel.
They can be in a part of the house where they can’t see outside, and will still go crazy if a rabbit comes in the yard.
I don’t think you, or any trainer in the world, could take them off leash and have them stay with you or recall them once they pick up a scent and take off. Their brains turn off and there’s nothing but that hunt.
To make a short story long, we have to use the training/hunting collar to recall our dogs, whether we’ve taken them to a place we’re they can run loose, or whenever they escape the house.
We were told by the breeder that we would need to do that. And we spent a lot of time with him learning how to train them using the collar.
The collars have a three stimulus… beeping noise, vibration, and shock. (For the people who don’t know, the shock is like a static shock you get when you walk on carpet and touch the door knob. It’s not electrocuting them.)
Once you train them so you can recall them (initially with shock, then vibration, then beep), you only have to push the button that makes the beeping sound and they come back.
There is a training process you have to go thru though. You can’t just put the collar on, let the dog run free, then zap him and expect him to come back. It won’t, it will be confused and scared and have no idea what is happening.
You also can’t just Willy-Nilly use the collar for everything (zap to make them stop barking, zap if they go on the sofa, zap if they get in your trash, etc), that’s abusive and will ruin your dog.
This post is mainly for the readers, I’m sure the Trainer on this channel knows all of this… whether or not he agrees.

That is because you haven't accomplished the training in 3D's. The 3D's are distance, duration and distractions. You need to add these 3D's as you train your beagle which it usually takes a year to accomplish. Watch this video for more info: th-cam.com/video/_8dsX7QkM_E/w-d-xo.html

Is it off the leash? If it is, keep it on leash until your puppy is fully trained before you off leash it.
