I have a staunch idea about y2k. If its from past 2001 it's unqualified. The teenagers would call something like 2005 y2k and no one has told them difference and it's too late.

It was prepping for the future. Anything 2005+ just isn’t it. Y2K ≠ “2000s as a whole” It literally means the year two-thousand. It’s supposed to be the style pre-Y2K and the styles post-Y2K. A very brief period that doesn’t span a whole decade, but more so 1997-2003 (maybe 2004). That was during the true heart of it all. That '90s vibe' was still strong within those years. But yeah I agree, 2005 is way too late to call it a Y2K year (although I gotta say, I'd take the whole decade of the 2000s anyday compared to the hellhole of a decade we're in right now). I think the final blow that changed the course of the decade for good was the Iraq War in 2003-04. We sadly started to lose 'the 90s' and that Y2K feel after 2003, and the 2000s started to get more dull and depressing.

I remember the clothes for 1999-2001 being mostly awful, at least the mainstream clothes on stores. Alternative fashion was a different story, I found nu metal/late 90's goth quite nice. Bubblegum pop wasn't bad either

I'd have to disagree that it's better. Also there's like a significant gap between 90s and 2000s fashion. It's more so badly redone 2000s outfits nowadays rather than 90s.

@@yopi5909 you’re obviously right, and i wouldn’t even be insecure about my style if i only knew worthy comebacks. i mean, when someone comes to me and laughs, offends etc i just stand there and don’t know whether i should simply ignore him/her or tell something, and i don’t know what to say. it’s basically really embarrassing for me because they always do it in public and in most inappropriate places such as school hall full with people.

@@dietmountndew Don't let it affect you! I know it's hard, I dress alt (not sure what to call it exactly but I dress different) and people at my old school were absolute jerks about it. At first it really made me not want to dress like myself but over time I built confidence. You should try too!
