    Hi there, great video. Just one question regarding the printer controlled cash drawer, does the drawer only open if it's a cash sale, or does it open everytime a sale is completed, whether its cash or card. Thanks.

    Hey There. If we were to use our Tablet with a stand, how would we go about this while charging the Tablet and having those connections?
    Thank you

    So both a receipt, and a "kitchen ticket" can be printed from the same printer? If so, that's great! I was wondering if I needed a second printer for kitchen tickets in addition to the receipt printer.

    How do you know what cash drawer and printer are compatible with square? Where to buy them.

    I am so confused! You said in the video that the cash drawer was run thru the printer and not the usb and therefore not controlled with the square but when you did the sale on square it did control it?.?? You also said right after it did work that it wouldn’t do it?

      Hi Tammy. This particular cash drawer (as are many) is run through the receipt printer. The receipt printer is then connected via USB to the Square Register, as I show in the video. I watched this video through 3 times after reading your comment and I'm really confused as to where you got the idea it is "therefore not controlled with the square". I couldn't find anywhere that I said or even implied that. It certainly is controlled by the Square Register and that's what I show you how to setup in the Square configuration in the next part of the video. I hope that helps clear up that confusion for you. Your last question though, "You also said right after it did work that it wouldn’t do it?" I'm going to guess that you are referring to right towards the end where I show how to test the cash drawer and I mention that there are more options available on that screen if you have a USB cash drawer, but for cash drawers like this one that run through the receipt printer, they literally have one function (open), so there is no other options besides the test option, which, as I show in the video works exactly as it should. If this isn't the part that you are querying, just let me know, happy to help, but hopefully that helps clear it up for you.

      I guess it was the other options available with a usb cash drawer that was confusing me.

      Me again! I now have all my parts. I do have a socket Bluetooth scanner and that works perfectly so I don’t need to set it up with the other things. However, my printer (rongta) which is not Bluetooth doesn’t seem to be recognized as being hooked it. I have the connections all correct. The square doesn’t recognize the ‘make’ and only offers Epson and star as printer options. I have tried both with the included ip address but it can’t be found. Any ideas? Because I can’t get the printer recognizes, my cash drawer is also not connected.

      Hi Tammy, I'm not familiar with Rongta printers, but it doesn't appear to be in the list of compatible devices here squareup.com/au/en/compatibility/accessories/receipt-printers?device%5B%5D=register so I'd say the Square Register just doesn't have drivers for it so can't communicate with it.

      @@matt-talks-tech thanks for the reply. I gave up on trying to get it figured out (I didn’t see it on the list either) so I returned it and purchased an Epson. The Epson printer works with the square stand but the cash drawer is not opening with the printer. The square stand seems to be very particular! I have the cash drawer hooked up with the printer and the printer going to the hub on the stand- like you do in the video. When I do a ‘test’ the drawer will open but it doesn’t open when I make a ‘sale’.

    Hi. What usb cash drawer works with square? I’m having an issue with the tsb143u printer not showing on iPad (showing disconnected) despite the lan cable being inserted. It works sometimes but continually disconnects.

    Can that be hooked up to a regular iPad Pro?? What all is needed , we are using Shopify now with a iPad ,, can the cash drawer and printer be connected ?

    • @goomba478
      @goomba478 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not directly to the iPad Pro unfortunately. You'd need to use the Square Stand or similar POS from them. These are the models that work with the Square Stand:
      Compatible with 10.2” and 10.5” iPads
      iPad (9th generation 2021)
      iPad (8th generation 2020)
      iPad (7th generation 2019)
      iPad Air (3rd generation 2019)
      iPad Pro 10.5”

    How’s it going Matt so I’m stuck on how to create barcodes for items and printing them do you have any methods?

    • @matt-talks-tech
      @matt-talks-tech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a Square Retail subscription it can generate them for you in a bunch of label formats. That's the easiest way. If you haven't had the free trial of it yet, I'd do that, generate all your barcodes, save the label printer PDF's that align with your printer the best, then end the trial. Once in a while if you need to generate new ones, or if you lost your saved label PDF's, just pay for the subscription for a month, it's far less effort than other options I've found.

      No, it doesn't. I had to buy the barcode scanner separately.

    I messed up by getting an Ethernet printer *and* cash drawer, I guess...

    • @matt-talks-tech
      @matt-talks-tech  ปีที่แล้ว

      It can run ethernet printers as long as the are on the compatible list: squareup.com/au/en/compatibility/accessories/receipt-printers however, I don't believe it can run a cash drawer over ethernet: squareup.com/au/en/compatibility/accessories/cash-drawers?device%5B%5D=register
