I subscribed and have been doing NaNoWriMo since 2017. Tip: Do Not Edit. Just get the words on the page. It's ok to skip around the timeline. It's OK not to have names for the characters. They can be "The Plumber" or "The cute clerk" and name them later. The only person to please is yourself, meaning don't worry about "marketability" or "genre." Totally cool that you're using Scrivener. Have fun, and don't let the deadline stress you out. Easy enough to say, but still, have fun.

Underwriters unite! I am attempting Nano as well. My biggest problem is that I have trouble fleshing out my stories. My brain is all "why use 3 words when 1 will work?" I think it's amazing that you started this channel and I can't wait to watch your journey. Happy writing😃

Welcome to the Authortube world! It's fun here 💜Also, welcome to the INSANITY that is NaNoWriMo. It's crazy but a lot of fun (even if you don't "win"). I've been participating since 2013 (technically I've "won" 1 time but it was a mishmash of like 3-5 stories and a lot of rewriting so I don't personally count it). Don't get down on yourself if you don't get 50k in November, writing can be hard and life gets in the way, the most important thing to remember is to continue to have fun! Always around for more writing buddies, so feel free to reach out. (I'll also be hosting some writing sprint livestreams as will a lot of us authortubers. The livestreams definitely help with staying accountable). Totally love the idea of the fantasy / possible fantasy romance. I'm a little biased since I write romance (fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary) and am currently working on a fantasy romance but I feel like we can always use more fantasy romance 🤪 Looking forward to seeing your journey! Hello Brielle. I’m an old guy so I guess I’m supposed to be the anachronism from an ancient time (I’ve never fit into any neat and tidy box)- Enjoyed this and I look forward to your future efforts. ooh i'm happy the algorithm showed me your video and i'm excited to follow along on your nano journey! this is my 3rd one and my first nano was so helpful in finally getting me to take my writing more seriously and actually dedicate the time for it. and when i learned to not self edit constantly, it unlocked my ability to write so much more than ever before. good luck! 🤩
I’m so glad you’re here!!! Shoutout to the algorithum lol. the skill of not self editing is still elusive for me haha hopefully this first nano helps me learn how to do that. Good luck with your 3rd nano! Awesome to hear the challenge helped you be more dedicated to your writing - I’m hoping it can do the same for me :)
@@briellewrites honestly, word sprints are what taught me to do that. I joined my local discord server and it was the competition aspect of the sprints that helped me so much. I was amazed when other people could write like 800 words in half an hour, so I kept pushing myself to get more words down, rather than sitting around thinking for 20 min and then writing 200 words in 10 min. Obviously tried to pay attention to plot & other story aspects to keep it consistent, but once I go over that hurdle I was golden ✨
@tianawithaj-km8tc very good point!!! I’ve started doing writing sprints w a friend and it’s def motivating to try and get a high-ish word count in each sprint. Def something I want to continue
Doing Nano for the first time this year too! I also haven't written since high school and just got back into fantasy and reading through ACOTAR. I'll be filming my progress as well and I can't wait to follow along with yours :D

Yay! I’m getting back to the story I started during nano during 2020. It’s been fun to feel like I’m reading a whole new story while I try to catch up because I don’t remember writing some of it 😂 would love to do writing sprints with folks, if you plan to do any live streams on TH-cam!
ALSO! I use scrivener and it’s been incredible. They do have a 1 month trial that I did for nano a few years ago

I'm 23 and I am also writing my first book sized story this month. You sound very confident in your idea and I'm jealous. I am not a discovery writer, I prep a lot, I spent October peeping and still I'm not confident in my outline. 🤣🤣🤣
