  • It's my 10 year anniversary of ownership with my 2005 MV Agusta F4 1000S that I bought new in 2006 as a new leftover.

    I owned one of the first ones back in 2000, I owned it for 13 years.
    Then my son bought one of his own when he was 18, he still has it now he is 25.
    As a kid he used to sit on mine so naturally he was heading towards one.
    A magnificent and beautifully designed italian.

    H2 is for special people. Ugliest bike out there, But it’s so fast, it requires the right person for it. This MV Augusta is a time piece that will be iconic for many years to come, along with Ducati’s 748-998.

    To me, the Ducati 916 was the one that got away. Last month I saw by chance a 2015 F4 RR and bought it as a birthday present to myself. The F4 is so underappreciated. So sublime. It rides better than it looks, if that was possible. And that soundtrack....oh yeah. Thank you for this video. I know I am in for a treat.

    I cannot for the life of me work out people who say oh its my dream bike and oh its so fantastic and proceed to tell you all about it and and how they know so much about it but then only do about 600 miles a year on it. A motorcycle is incomplete unless its ridden. I work on a high end 60yo classic motorcycle brand and see this constantly. I ride one as every day transport and had done for 38 years. I restore and repair these bikes and the owners then take them home and put them in the shed or in the man cave. They then stand around informing all who will listen about what a serious biker they are. Ride the damn things!

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't help but feel like your comment is directed towards me. If it is, I encourage you to have an open mind. Also I invite you to take a look at my channel. I have 4 motorcycles. ....and this one has been taken to the track and "ridden" as you put it. I choose to keep this particular bike in excellent condition because for me it is not just a motorcycle but a work of art and a timeless design by a deceased artist and icon. Some people buy $10,000 paintings, I chose to buy an MV. You also have to take into consideration that parts for this bike are discontinued and are difficult to source. I don't think it's fair to knock the guys who don't want to put 30,000 miles on their bikes. We all ride for different reasons, and along those lines, it would not be fair for me to say that if people don't go to the track, then they're not real riders or shouldn't buy sport bikes. Thanks for sharing your opinion though, and I do understand your point. Bikes are meant to be ridden. Make no mistake though, this bike has seen a curve or two. ;-)

      No, not directed specifically at you in particular because I see the same types with early HDs', Ducatis', Indians', and a whole lot more. I'm working on bikes but months and years later see very very few miles on them. That in the end is the owners choice but when I hear the owners spruking about how serious brand x owners they are then it makes me get steam up. Because I ride every where I get bailed up by all and sundry who invariable say, "gee you don't see these around any more" Grrrr. The last national (my brand) rally we had in Australia I was shocked when my son and I got the award for longest distance ridden to the rally ..... at 140 miles!! The rest were all trailered!! We are about to ride to the National rally again this year and I will bet 90% of the bikes there will be trailered. Then all the people will stand around and most of the people will still have their bikes back home in the shed. I'm putting in about 8,000miles a year on each of my three bikes. I'm no super long distance rider, I REALLY do like riding my bikes. All that said I do like your video on the MV, Its quite informative, there are few if any like it on youtube. Here is a hint though, don't rev it just for the camera. An MV garners attention just being an MV, no need to frivolously rev it. :-)

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noted, on the revving. ;-) I start to get sore at anything over 120-140 miles myself. But then again, my bike choices aren't the best options for distance. As I get older I think I may start looking into bikes that are more tailored to longer days in the saddle. It's nice that you can also share your passion with your son. If my father rode I'd probably ride a lot more too.

    • @ogrilp400
      @ogrilp400 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL. I'm 60you and the bike I have done the most miles on is a quintessential British cafe racer. Clip ons, flat seat, rear sets, five gallon tank. 250 miles and about four hours and a bit at a sitting for the long stuff. Best I have done is 525 miles in 11 1/2 hours. Two fuel stops only, no coffee breaks or toilet stops. That was a push though so in future I will probably stop and "smell the roses" so to speak. Friday I'm off on 4 1/2 hours and 220 miles. One coffee stop.

    I love these bikes because they have a classic feel and style but with modern engine performance, the styling hasn't really changed over the past 10 years plus which is what makes this really unique and 'classic' today but every few years they have been improving the performance to meet the performance of the other 1000 competitors. What a lovely bike, sounds amazing!

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There's quite a few different versions of the F4, but this classic combo of the red and silver has got to be the best, it's jsut so gorgeous and classy! Even better than super expensive Tamburini and CG versions, even though those bikes are covered in super sexy parts.
    Yours sounds great with that exhaust. Such a unique sounding inline four. Only an Italian four could sound like that, so raunchy and agricultural compared to a Japaneese inline

    The tubular frame is hand made from aluminum and chromoly. I own a Brutale 1000RR and I love my MV, is a great bike. It gives you a feeling no other bike can. The way it trembles, very mechanical. Is a modern F4 without fairing. I love my CBR1000RR but is 150cc scooter compared to the Brutale 1000RR. You need commitment on the MV while on the CBR it does it for you. I have the race kit fitted and it gives the bike 200hp + to the wheel. Sounds like an F1 V8 with the race kit on.

The complaint about the bike was often the same --- needs grippier brake pads. In all honesty, grippier pads would help (I run EBCs on mine), but I don't think there is an issue with the braking. The Anti Engine Braking system on this bike is what makes the stopping distances longer and it's hard to wrap your head around it.

    Great video. I LOVE MV Agusta machines. Red/Silver is the best color combo. I've been a Ducati guy but I need one of these. I'm looking for an 2000-2001 750. I live in L.A. and there are a few around. Come out to socal and I'll take you up Angeles Crest Highway. Cheers!

      Thanks man. One of these days I need to get over to Cali. The good thing about MVs is that they are all Cali legal. I'll keep my eyes open for you.

    Your F4 is beautiful! Is the tank metal or plastic? If it is plastic, have you experienced any tank deformity from ethanol? One of these was traded at my local dealer with low mileage and in what appears to be outstanding condition, and the styling is drawing me in. But, I've had two European motorcycles with plastic tanks that deformed due to ethanol and don't want to deal with that again. I think it is a beautiful bike at the bottom of it's depreciation curve and would love to buy a motorcycle that is fun to ride and holds it's value. Thanks for sharing the great video.

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The tank is metal and the airbox is plastic. I've never had a problem with the tank caving in. I typically fill my tank up to the top when the bike will be sitting. You will be very happy with it if you pull the trigger and buy it.

    Well, do partially to your videos, as ive said before I cant ride responsibly and always sell my bikes but had been thinking about buying again, and I finally did. About a month ago i picked up an 07 R1, lots of mods, lots of fun, but i noticed I had some good sized chicken strips. Yeah, so I went and bought an 05 GSXR1000 track bike, fully modded, even has sport bike engine build. And two weekends ago i hit the track for two days. What a Fkn blast! Im packing up tomorrow to head back for a monday/tuesday track ride. Signed up again for two days next month as well. I didnt do to bad, first time on track bike, first time in leathers, brand new tires, rode C class saturday, got bumped to A sunday. I see now how you can get a tid bit addicted to the track....LOL....Thanks for the inspiration I cant believe i didnt do it sooner...

    Hey, im just looking for my first 1000cc, would you suggest me this piece of art instead an Aprilia or an R1. I mean is it as beauty as fun to ride? Maneuvrable and quik in change direction? the other bikes seem more handling.
    Im from Italy btw, great video.

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For your first 1000cc I would get something cheap to fix unless you have deep pockets. An MV is a great bike but not meant to be a ‘daily’.

    I've got a Kwaka zx 10 that would blow this thing into next wk and it's a looker , but this mv is the dogs nuts a true classic and I'm of to my dealer to get one

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The newer ZX10Rs are amazing but the gap is closer than you think. The older ZX10Rs there's nothing in it. I'd even argue that the MV is even better than any ZX10R up until 2010.

    I had the model after this one, the 1000RR with radial Brembos and a full Arrow race system. Man that thing was a beast! Luckily I wrote it off in a low speed crash, before it wrote me off at a high speed one... It was only a matter of time :) Have to say it was the most uncomfortable bike I've ever owned. Turned heads though.

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely uncomfortable around town. On the track though it's actually pretty good. The tight dimensions keep you locked in place through the corners.

      The maintenance has been Japanese-like. Not like the Ducatis that needed frequent rocker arm check ups and valve adjustments.
