Humble Pie were maybe the best hard-rock/blues band to come down the pike. Everyone was a great player (Jerry Shirley and Greg Ridley are woefully under rated as a rhythm section) super energy, great songs...and they produced one of the five greatest live albums (Rockin' the Fillmore) ever, along with Allman Bros at the Fillmore, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out, Johnny Winter And...Live and of course, Live At Leeds.
How nice to see Jerry Shirley looking so well and still telling fascinating stories. Loved his book and loved the Pie. Lovely man - long life Jerry - Rock on ✌
It's great but I have a humble pie extended versions cd that I think is better than rockin the fillmore. Not sure where they were recorded. Think it must have been around the eat it period.
@@Bigchet1223 the extended versions is the King Biscuit Flower Hour. The cd came out when I was stationed in Schweinfurt Germany 96'. That concert was recorded back in 73' in San Fransico. I do agree with you that this concert is better than the Rockin the Fillmore. Rock ON!
For me, I'll take The Allman Brothers at the Fillmore or Frampton Comes Alive or Bring It Back Alive by the Outlaws or Skynyrd's One More From The Road or Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains The same.
I'd venture to guess HP is not in due to their close bond with GFR back then. Jann Wenner is in that club that you and I aren't in (military industrial complex and war profiteers, to name two club members) and GFR's anti war stance pissed off Wenner, that vindictive bastard 🙄
Just happened to buy Jerry's book recently on a bit of a whim and it was excellent! Growing up as a kid in the 70's it was fascinating to get a behind the scenes look at everything going on in rock music during that time period. What a treasure Jerry is! Great interview by Artists On Record.
Just saw Jerry Shirley's "Humble Pie Legacy" last night. They were really good - I get it, nothing beats the original(s), but these guys were phenomenal.
Pie got 3 encores opening for Grand Funk at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis late falk of '70. Saw GF 4 times and the crowd booed the opening acts in order to see GF. Except that night in St. LOUIS, when Humble Pie rocked St. LOUIS SO HARD-- I swear the Arch sank a couple of feet!! Both Acts were amazing and loved!!!
I’ve been digging Humble Pie lately! I wasn’t too familiar with their work up until recently. I’m looking forward to watching the full interview on the members only page! 😊
Humble Pie are one of the greatest bands of all time. Marriott was truly one of the greatest singers ever. Good guitarist too. Steve Van Zant & the R&R Hall of fame are elitist A Holes
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke, as is Rolling Stone. They never gave any credit to Steve Marriott. On the list 100 of rocks greatest singers, I looked where they placed him - NOWHERE he didn't make the list at all - disgusting! Also their list of 100 greatest frontmen- NOWHERE! I give them 0 respect for that.🖕
I met Jerry years ago at square to square in Cleveland,Ohio my first day as a sound roadie he played drums for stutz bearcat band my friend Mike Miller sad Bob there's Jerry Shirley I ran over to get his autograph, which I still have and I accidentally touched the back of his with a lit cigarette I felt so bad after that
Humble pie was a better band than the faces or small faces but were descent bands. Frampton was nominated this year he should be in. Grand funk isnt in the hof either and should be.
If 'Eat It' had used a producer and been properly mixed the Humble Pie story might have been very different. Marriott upset too many people and would not play the game, unlike Rod Stewart who knew how to play the game.
John Mayall was JUST added to the inductee list, a oversight that should have been corrected LONG ago. Many of the prog bands aren't in either, but so what. ?? They are TOO Good to be in the hall of fame, and I think a lot of these bands really don't care. But, not to have inducted the two bands mentioned here, well, what ARE they waiting for ??? I agree with Mr. Shirley that Marriott should be in as a member of the SMALL Faces, and also the question he posed about Little Feat.
Thanks Jerry for having Steves back you were a true friend to him you are a world class drummer and so modest

Glad you enjoyed it
Smokin' is one of the few Blues rock albums that I would call perfect in just about every way you just can't fault it.
Rockin the Fillmore is probably the best live album ever recorded. The Pie rocks!!!
You got that right! 👍🏻😎
100% mate . Listen to that audience , that tells you a lot.
It's great but I have a humble pie extended versions cd that I think is better than rockin the fillmore. Not sure where they were recorded. Think it must have been around the eat it period.

I met and partied with Steve Marriott and he was the coolest guy I ever met - a total gentleman !
Saw the Shea Stadium show.Went for Grand Funk, who were fantastic!Humble Pie stole the show!
humble pie & grand funk, belong in the rock and roll hall of fame.
I'd venture to guess HP is not in due to their close bond with GFR back then. Jann Wenner is in that club that you and I aren't in (military industrial complex and war profiteers, to name two club members) and GFR's anti war stance pissed off Wenner, that vindictive bastard 🙄
One of the best bands I ever saw
I had the honour fun and pleasure of making Smokin, Eat it and Street Rats... As engineer plus.. So proud and joyous to hear to this day x
Loved listening to Jerry Shirley on wncx here in Cleveland. Lots of stories. Love humble pie and fastway. Just bought the humble pie box set.
Steve Marriot was an amazingly powerful vocalist he should be up there with Paul Rodgers.
Agree 💯
Better than Paul Rodgers!
@@PaddyBaxter-ji8in That is a a matter of opinion but I was meaning stature wise.
Mate, Steve Marriott will always be up there he had it all .
He is.

Thank you my friend

nobody hits like Jerry, he was the power.

1956tojo never saw them live-- ain't that a shame!!!
Humble Pie, the best band ever!!!!
Shirley on drums, Ridley non bass, Clem on guitar and Marriott on vocals, arguably the most talent ever on a stage.
Sorry I missed this Stefan!! I did watch the whole thing afterwards. Jerry is a very class act. Love the stories!!🤩🤩
Humble Pie is one my top 5 bands of the 70s.
Rock On, Rocking the Filmore and Smoking!! Greatest Humble Pie albums everyone should know!! Nothing better in Rock!!
and the King Biscuit Flower Hour, live 73' concert of Humble Pie including in the 3 albums you mentioned!
I’ve been digging Humble Pie lately! I wasn’t too familiar with their work up until recently. I’m looking forward to watching the full interview on the members only page! 😊
Steve Marriott influenced so Many Great Front men, like Paul Stanley, Chris Robinson, Springsteen
Steve Marriott- what a voice , the Cockney King of Soul
No one comes close to the great Marriotti
Brother I love you! Leon Wilkinson 's favorite bass player....Bonnie Albright
Humble Pie didn’t do enough original work . Nice cover band .
Jerry hit it, it’s not so much Pie isn’t in but WHO IS IN while they are not. Of course now i have to go enrage myself by looking at the list.

Totally agree. It's a joke. We're going to call ourselves authorities and everyone who is anyone will want to be in our exclusive club. Sod off.
AGAIN WELL SAID Cindy !!!!!!!!!
All the best from Holland.

The Hall of Shame is a load of bollocks.
Jethro Tull not in as well as another great band Delaney & Bonnie and Friends.
If 'Eat It' had used a producer and been properly mixed the Humble Pie story might have been very different. Marriott upset too many people and would not play the game, unlike Rod Stewart who knew how to play the game.
The Rock n roll HOF should have never existed.
John Mayall was JUST added to the inductee list, a oversight that should have been corrected LONG ago.

Farner, not Farener... LOL...
The RnR Hall Of Cash is a joke.
As if you're gonna take the RRHOF seriously. Madonna is there FFS.
Grand Funk is not in THERE
Humble Pie doesn't even hit the top 10..... They had some enjoyable music, but uh.... This is ridiculous.
No memorable songs from that band.
RRHF is garbage 🗑️
Humble Pie was good BUT not hall of fame good! Their body of work not enough to warrant induction.
Listen to their catalog sometime.
Politely and wholeheartedly disagree.
