Stephen only talked about one form of slavery in the OT. There is also taking of captives and buying and selling of slaves in the OT that was not mentioned. The idea of indentured servitude still exists in the trope where some fictional character eats in a restaurant but then can't pay their bill, so they are shown washing dishes. This is like the ancient debt slavery referred to in the bible, but no one ever gets offended by the trope for some reason.

But Christ did said to free the slaves, and abolished slavery, when He said: "do to others as you would have them do to you!"
