I visited Russia in 2012. It was a class trip to Murmansk. We visited a Russian high school. I had to sit near two Russian guys and we spoke a little before the class began. The guy closest to me was very into piano and he showed me his notes. He knew how to play multiple songs, and was very interesting. He seemed so genuine and passionate about music. The other was the opposite and I spoke about Norway's peace goals. I'm from Norway. He looked at me, and said that peace is boring. He seemed a bit weird. These days I wonder if any of them ended up in the army. I would like to know, because I'm curious. most soldiers just privately buy their own equipment or donated by civilians who buy in bulk to lower the prices, so often you will see standard motorized infantry and can confuse them for special forces at times due to how much kit they have, if you are a conscript but cannot buy you would recieve the kolpak-20 helmets with monolith plate carriers, the equipment here portrayed on the video is not really used by the troops anymore this is more like pre-2022 as they’ve mostly replaced it with Tor-2 helmets and new repro 6b45s, some getting strelok as ratnik program didn’t seem to go as planned.

In the movie, the opening scene where the aliens launch an asteroid is actually a flash forward to later in the story, but this isnt clearly explained so most people think thats the chronological beginning of the movie. Firstly, petitioning, writing to, and creating popular support for pro Ukrainian policies in your government (e.g writing to elected officials to express support for giving Ukraine long range missile permissions), joining trustworthy fundraising efforts to directly buy and send equipment and humanitarian aid (not money itself), and even helping to mass report Kremlin bots and propaganda accounts online (however minor it may be). If you have a solid grasp on the Ukrainian language you can assist with direct humanitarian programmes in the country (e.g Red Cross volunteering) or if you have past military experience it is sometimes possible to join the foreign legions by consulting a local Ukrainian consulate in secret (it is generally seen as geopolitically complicated to allow volunteers to go, but this hasn’t stopped a lot of north americans, brits, poles, and especially Georgians from doing so)

We had one guy who was ripped, and he was this sent to ranger battalion because his performance was so good....and his husband was like the best FRG, family support group, leader we had. The spouses usually helped each other and their families when we were deployed or training. The guy closest to me was very into piano and he showed me his notes. He knew how to play multiple songs, and was very interesting. He seemed so genuine and passionate about music. The other was the opposite and I spoke about Norway's peace goals. I'm from Norway. He looked at me, and said that peace is boring. He seemed a bit weird. These days I wonder if any of them ended up in the army. I would like to know, because I'm curious. I believe, what many Westerners are also missing is the fact that ruzzian culture does not define homosexuality as simply male attraction to men or any form of male-on-male intercourse. It's interesting to me that the guys being shamed in the ads are doing "effeminate" things, but they are also doing stuff that's just nice and not really associated with being effeminate or gay at all, like sitting in a park or having a nice car. It's also interesting to me that unlike earlier Russian military ads that focused a lot on cool new military hardware and flashy action, like jet fighters flying by and new tanks driving by, these new ads seem to focus a lot on guys just standing around a trench or a ruined building looking grim.
I wonder if aside from the obvious homophobia and trying to get guys to sign up for the military, they are also trying to paint all "luxuries", like nice cars or even just having free time, as bad/Western/effeminate, and suffering in a trench as Russian and masculine, in an attempt to preempt Russians from complaining/protesting about economic hardship and prevent recently signed on soldiers from complaining about being stuck in a muddy trench for years and the lack of fast progress on the battlefield.
Protip: "you're not a real man unless [XYZ]" is exactly the kind of thing someone says when they're trying to pull some kind of bullshit that's probably not going to end well for you. It's a pretty reliable sign that doing XYZ is a bad idea.

most soldiers just privately buy their own equipment or donated by civilians who buy in bulk to lower the prices, so often you will see standard motorized infantry and can confuse them for special forces at times due to how much kit they have, if you are a conscript but cannot buy you would recieve the kolpak-20 helmets with monolith plate carriers, the equipment here portrayed on the video is not really used by the troops anymore this is more like pre-2022 as they’ve mostly replaced it with Tor-2 helmets and new repro 6b45s, some getting strelok as ratnik program didn’t seem to go as planned.

In the movie, the opening scene where the aliens launch an asteroid is actually a flash forward to later in the story, but this isnt clearly explained so most people think thats the chronological beginning of the movie. That attack happens later, because after that opening scene, we get scenes of Rico talking to his parents who die in that asteroid strike, and those arent flashbacks.
So, there isnt really a conclusive answer to that question, and its not the point of the story anyway.

If you have a solid grasp on the Ukrainian language you can assist with direct humanitarian programmes in the country (e.g Red Cross volunteering) or if you have past military experience it is sometimes possible to join the foreign legions by consulting a local Ukrainian consulate in secret (it is generally seen as geopolitically complicated to allow volunteers to go, but this hasn’t stopped a lot of north americans, brits, poles, and especially Georgians from doing so)

Im a lesbian US Army Veteran and its so funny seeing these ads talking about youre gay if you dont join. Bruh, some of the best soldiers I knew were gay AF. We had one guy who was ripped, and he was this sent to ranger battalion because his performance was so good....and his husband was like the best FRG, family support group, leader we had. The spouses usually helped each other and their families when we were deployed or training. The US military has suffered propaganda attacks because its now "woke"....but shit if being anti woke means we dont have gay or trans soldiers then were screwed because theyre some of the best Ive seen in my career. If you want to see the effectiveness(or lack there of)of an anti woke military, ask the second best army in ukraine.
