Thanks for the kind words! I try and keep things "real" and informative while also posing questions. I try to to bridge the gap between design, player, and DM as well.
I like the concept of the Monster Core having a majority of the creatures you'd find in the classic fantasy and use in a variety of areas and situations and then the regional books can dive further into the creatures more unique to those areas. As an example: If I were to create an adventure with themes similar to 'The Mummy' I'd just need to dig through Monster Core and a book like - Lost Omens: The Golden Road for quick encounter ideas.
I am old 54 years old like you I have grown up with this stuff. I dont' get the monster grab and push and things they changed. I don't have the new books, except on roll20. I am whinning about having to buy all new books, especailly the pdfs I bought. Couldn't they do an update like when you buy a DLC?
It's lame tbh. I'm losing interest in P2e big time. It's just book bloat. The system is good but the adventure paths are gimicky. Give me Desert of Desolation, Vault of the Drow. I want to be afraid. The good thing about Pathfinder is ALL of the rules are free on Archives of Nethys, but that website is a huge pain to navigate.
