Teens in room 8. I tried to add extra lore for the room, but they didn’t care. They took the pyramid. The “slime” on the wall was entertaining. They’re paranoid about everything being a trap or something that can harm them. Room 9 was standard. Fighter went for the sword on the statue, it toppled over, he took damage, and the rogue took the eye jewels unharmed. Half the group opened the door to area 11 and the others are curious about the secret path to area 10.
Loving this series! The boastful slug is maybe a little wonky!, but a good GM could make that a fun encounter. Not a fan of the plague rats, just feels a little 'gotcha', I might have the plague be slower acting and have some NPC healer who could cure them back in town if I was going to use this, although perhaps the players should just have the sense to avoid a bunch of rabid rats!
100% agree. I remember as kids we used to try and talk our way through everything. At some point we shifted into trying to kill everything :) 50 minute death sentence from rats is SCARY.

I still have my original copy of this classic!
AD&D all the way :)
Awesome! Can't beat 44+ year old classics. Imagine you had a book printed in 1900 and you read it on DDay. That's how old C1 is!
