Loving this series!
The boastful slug is maybe a little wonky!, but a good GM could make that a fun encounter.
Not a fan of the plague rats, just feels a little 'gotcha', I might have the plague be slower acting and have some NPC healer who could cure them back in town if I was going to use this, although perhaps the players should just have the sense to avoid a bunch of rabid rats!

100% agree. I remember as kids we used to try and talk our way through everything. At some point we shifted into trying to kill everything :)
50 minute death sentence from rats is SCARY.
