My father taught me that there is NEVER a reason to be unkind; and my grandmother told me to leave this world a better place than I found it. They were two of the most kind and giving human beings I ever knew. They totally got it right.

There are roughly 350,000 to 400,000 churches in the United States. This works out to about 113 churches per county, and one church for every 1,000 Americans. Hence, there are places where those who do not have a roof over their head can take refuge. What would Jesus do to comfort those folks? Would he declare there is no room at the inn?

I surmise that 80-90% of US churches are only open on Sundays for the benefit of their social get-togethers and to convince each other how much "better", "nobler", and "pious" they are (not).
Not free health care. A health care system paid for with tax dollars and available to ALL. Words are important, and the word 'free' pushes buttons for many.
I have no issue with hiring H1b applicants for engineering positions except when: 1. They replace equally talented US engineers. 2. They hire H1b applicants because they accept fewer benefits, longer hours. 3. They will not require holidays/vacation time. 4. In summary, they are hired because the employer wants cheaper, more compliant workers.

I'm not against the visa program at all, but I have a problem with ''DOGE'' complaining about the abilities of our students while they support eliminating the Dept. of Education, or supporting more enormous tax cuts for the super-rich who will then pay/lie/cheat to get their kids, who may be as dumb as a box of rocks, into the best schools where they will take up space that a student with greater ability could use to soar. You can't have it both ways.
The H1-B Visa has be around since the 90's. The problem with them is they take advantage of the worker. Middle men skimming off the top, low pay, long hours and any pushback by the worker and it's see you later, back to where you came from. I know of cases where groups of workers were housed in apartments that outnumbered the available bedrooms. The reason they were grouped, is because they did not make enough individually to pay the rent. These are good people, I have worked with them, but it's another capitalist screwed job.
I have a book called "Disposable People". The idea is about keeping people down so they perform the thankless jobs of unskilled laborers. Once they are incapacitated, they are replaced. Uprooting the already uprooted is beyond cruel. The tents, boxes, heaps comprising living space...how can we allow this? Kindness must be paramount. That must apply also to those who come to study and achieve professional status and citizenship. Their contribution is immeasurable, as well as the labor of those people who work in caregiving, agriculture, education, food service, the arts and music...so many in the beautiful mix that is our America. Everyone can make a contribution if allowed to and is welcomed. Wishing Holly a good recovery and that surgery isn't necessary. You are an exceptional, caring man. Love to you both.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: 1) Food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter are the bare necessities for anyone’s survival . 2) Safety and Security. 3) Love and Belonging. 4) Esteem 5) Self Actualization. People are just trying to survive. Our city passed an ordinance preventing "camping" or storing "personal items" within 10 blocks of temporary shelters. This means that homeless people can't set up a tent or even sit with their belongings near non profits that serve the homeless. I've volunteered at the food pantry and the people who come in off of the streets are the most humble and grateful souls I've ever met. They need housing but the money designated to help them gets siphoned off by non-profits lining their own pockets. While I agree about keeping the best and the brightest for our collective benefit, Elon just wants people he can hire for cheap, bully and overwork. There are qualified US Engineers but they expect a good wage, know that they can get another job and don't have to put up with toddler hissy fits. One of my friends just went back to work as a consultant for the plant we retired from because their foreign or newly graduated staff can't plan some of the upcoming maintenance projects. He's decided he wants to pay for a new RV in 6 months and he will!
I after 50 years busting my ass for other people got fired from my job during covid, 20 year employer. Ended up on unemployment. Took that unemployment money bought 5 acres in the Arizona desert. Built an 8x8 shed, bought a generator and refrigerator. I don't have much anymore no one will hire me because I'm 61, never struggled this hard my whole life.but I'm not homeless. What I want to know is what happened?
Sir I am 70 years old 100% disabled when I started building my cabin on the acre of land I bought in Northern Nevada after suffering a life disability injury from an industrial accident took me 10 years of saving nickels and dimes be able to buy the land and then I use my covid money to build my cabin but I was 100% disabled and I live on very little but I'm not homeless and I see people living in the most squalid conditions in a country that allows billionaires to run a muck and lie and cheat and steal how long do you think a god of loving God on honest God a real God except for one thing God does not run this planet we do
I understand, I am 63. Following Covid I went from 38,000 a years to 23,000 a year, all of my pay checks go to satisfy my rent. Every month not knowing is this the month I will be leaving in my car with my three young dogs. My family who could give me shelter, say it would be a burden to give temporary shelter. This is the first year I observed adult screaming at each other cornering me just because I have a different political view than they do. I did not realize my whole family had turned Trump crazy here in Texas. Things they said things, I heard opinions, the faults information that they have made the rule of their lives every day. I found myself walking away getting in my car with no one even acknowledging what I was doing or cared to where I was going or try to stop me from leaving while they were screaming.. my mother later on asking three days later why did I leave? They’re oblivious to their behavior, to the behavior that’s going on in our country. I’ve spent my Christmas break, wondering and truly planning out how I will leave this summer break and move on to be by myself for the first time in my whole entire life.. understanding I don’t see either one of them stopping me from going on.
In the last twenty years the understood bargain that workers who increase productivity should share in the profit has been broken. Rather than blending causes and needs, the rich take, greed swells, people suffer.
Political corruption and corporate greed. I am sorry but there but for luck go all of us wage slaves. This government has failed. All illusions are gone. Now what?
Oh Holly ! I'm so sorry about your fall. You've been through so much. But you're going to get better and preserve 🙏❤️ Thank you for taking such good care of Holly, Mr. Flannery .You're a good man. I appreciate your time today. Blessings to you nice people 🙏❤️

H1Bs are fine and should be promoted. But how much is someone like Musk pushing it for cheaper labor? I have heard and read about American workers training their replacements. Protect American workers at the same time.
@@johnflannery2185 That may be what is published but the truth is that the average tenure of a worker at Tesla is 2.1 years. Most of them don't stay long enough to take advantage of the stock option plans, which require 4 years vesting just to participate and another 5 years to exercise. You also seem to be unaware that Musk requires his workforce to put in 80 hour weeks after week, working in a tension filled work environment.
The picture of Holly at Christmas was so lovely. Physical vulnerability brings with it emotional vulnerability. The happiness in her expression is in part her own courage, in part the love and support you give her. Wishing for the best for you both.
I worked for HUD in the 90s and I worked for Utah state social services in the 80s. Homelessness seems to me to be a completely unsolvable problem. My rough estimate back in the 80s as I interacted face-to-face with homeless people (mostly men) was that 1/3 were addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, 1/3 were clinically mentally ill who used drugs and/or alcohol as self-medication, and 1/3 seemed to actually prefer not punching a time clock, paying taxes, or paying child support. To get these people housed then and now, requires getting them to a point of self-sufficiency and personal responsibility. Which requires a LOT of counseling, medical assistance, rehab, job training, dental care - many men I saw were missing teeth - etc. etc. Well, good luck. Many of these guys would need you to hold their hand 24/7 to get them from one type of appointment to another because they CAN’T do it on their own. The other problem is the complete dearth of taxpayer funds to pay for the services these guys need. No taxpayer - let alone state/county gov’t - wants to provide free dental, medical, mental health services to substance abusers or anyone else apparently. Same goes for housing. In summary, homelessness will never be solved in the U.S.
While much of your statement is true I think you paint the issue with a broad brush. I know two people who are homeless and neither fits the descriptions you gave.
How do you account for women and children, whole families who are homeless? Or elderly couples and individuals who have fallen upon hard times. Your comment reaks of blame the victim mentality.
My view, Mr. Flannery is that we should direct and train these segment of our population that are marginalized into these highly lucrative scientific occupations. Thousands of these individual do have the intelligence to be successful in these fields. It is strange and counter productive that the United States gives preferences to importing foreign personnel to the detriment of its own citizens. The motivation guiding these corporations is not that they cannot find enough native born Americans to fill these skilled positions, but ever increasing their financial bottom line.
Hi John so sorry to hear about Holly's wrist. Wishing her a quick and full recovery. I appreciate your daily discussions with the DRG. Thank you & God Bless you, Holly and your family.
Wishing Holly a speedy recovery and thank you for the sit and talk. I will do more research to learn about visa issue but thought the department of education had schools around the country that are STEM schools to get/steer children towards math, science, and technology so that Americans could compete. Why would Trump close or think about closing the department of education when we should be preparing our children for the future?
Ouch! I hope Holly is comfortable and not in too much pain. Homelessness is a huge problem in America. Thank you, John, for having an honest conversation about this unfortunate reality that grows in numbers everyday.
So sorry about Holly’s accident; I know that the ER is not normally anyone’s favorite place, but is particularly problematic for folks who have had transplants.
Thank you for being a trusted voice of reason, John. Your talks give me hope. Wishing Holly all the best. ❤ I experienced a broken right wrist in recent years. For me, I noticed afterward that my balance was off a bit during recuperation. Hope Holly heals well and as quickly as possible. I'm 77 now and none the worse for wear. 😊 Wishing you both a happy new year!
I have never understood why we, as Americans, are so cruel & heartless to our own people & citizens, yet generous & charitable to others (except incoming immigrants).
Thank you for this timely talk. It's perfect for the season. And healing thoughts to Holly. Having grown up with horses I can relate to the many minor injuries over the years. Be well...both of you. ❤
Thanks for the sit and talk, John. Hoping Holly’s wrist heals quickly. Am thankful that’s the worst that happened and that she has your caring and compassionate self to help her. ❤️
I don't know if they were H1bs but working in the late 70s we had Irish girls working at the hotel . Who went on to Austrailia to work etc. It was a great opportunity for young people.
I believe H1B1 programs are fine for students, but I don’t believe it should be a bypass to bring on workers hired because they are cheaper than Americans who have the equivalent abilities.
Wishing a speedy recovery to your wife John. And as for visas, if we price more kids out of school who would be our engineers and scientist, then we do have to import them…just to stay competitive with the rest of the world.
Holly, I hope you heal up quickly. That has to be painful! Glad you have John and Diana to help, until you're back to full mobility. Sending lots of healing vibes! Have a good day John and all!💖🌸💕
So surprised that you came to talk with us after the day you spent with your beloved, but broken wrist-ed, Holly. What a day for you two! Blessings to you both. I’ve found that I so much look forward to hearing you every day that I click on you channel right away . . . after I awaken and eat something. Like so many, I’ve cut wayyyyy back on the politics.to sad, depressing and frightening to handle anymore. But, I wonder how long before we can start an impeachment of the orange devil. January 21st is just fine with me. Also, I’m so glad you are speaking about EDUCATION,because I’ve yowled about for over four decades now. Thank you for what you do.
My best to Holly! Wishes for no pain, and little fear. John Flannery is a good nurse substitute and fine coach. I have much guilt about the tent people. I have seen them for years in my town. I saw them when I to be in the hospital for an extended period. It was winter and first beautiful snow. The snow even looked lovely on the tents. My guilt comes from my spending choices. I chose this last presidential cycle to spend money I hoped would elect Harris. Now I feel threatened. I feel like I have to clutch every last nickel. I’m not very courageous in the face of the Nazis. I think I need to be secure, and not try to rely on anyone else. So now those pretty white topped tents look like cold igloos. So sorry. OG DRG
I'm so sorry Holly has injured herself. I had a broken wrist as a kid, casted for the whole summer. Hope surgery won't be necessary for Holly. A kinder more gentle America would be nice right now. Thanks for your thoughts in the political arena! I agree with you more often than not. Hoping you have a nice evening!❤
I so sympathize with your wife right now. I have RA and decided I wanted to do Christmas dinner this year. I ran out of energy and aggravated my already weakened right hand and wrist. It is not easy trying to work with a left non dominant hand. So glad she has you and I hope some others to help her as she meanders through her daily tasks. Sending good vibes her way in hopes that she will be better soon! ✌
Thank you for another thoughtful opinion tonight, Mr. Flannery. If people know about the criteria for narcissistic personality disorder or have read the characteristics of malignant narcissists, they understand why dictatorship is the mindset for those people so afflicted. They, the narcissistic personality disordered person, have a deep need for everyone to do what he or she wants, as dictators demand. Reading the criteria for both pathologies will show Trump completely. We'll see overtime how cognitive decline affects the particular one who's got our country in his grasp as time passes. Unfortunately the psychological developmental delay of the severly disordered narcissist we face can't be remedied with pills or therapy.
Thank you John! Thank you for giving your perspective on what’s happening. Hoping for speedy recovery for your lovely wife and all the best to you both!❤❤

Now what?
Feel better Holly!
Oh Holly ! I'm so sorry about your fall. You've been through so much. But you're going to get better and preserve 🙏❤️ Thank you for taking such good care of Holly, Mr. Flannery .You're a good man. I appreciate your time today. Blessings to you nice people 🙏❤️
Always informative and straight forward. Thank you❤️😊
Also your wife must be in some pain and how lovely to see your care and interest in her injury.
Wishing her speedy healing and strengthening💪✨🙂
H1Bs are fine and should be promoted. But how much is someone like Musk pushing it for cheaper labor? I have heard and read about American workers training their replacements. Protect American workers at the same time.
this is what he pays - www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/how-much-does-tesla-pay-internal-salary-data-compensation/482715
Musk admitted in a tweet he pays them less
@@johnflannery2185 That may be what is published but the truth is that the average tenure of a worker at Tesla is 2.1 years. Most of them don't stay long enough to take advantage of the stock option plans, which require 4 years vesting just to participate and another 5 years to exercise.
You also seem to be unaware that Musk requires his workforce to put in 80 hour weeks after week, working in a tension filled work environment.
Thanks, John, wishing Holly a speedy recovery💫🙏
The picture of Holly at Christmas was so lovely. Physical vulnerability brings with it emotional vulnerability. The happiness in her expression is in part her own courage, in part the love and support you give her. Wishing for the best for you both.
I have found that the people with so little were the most kindhearted.
I hope Holly is ok! Hope she recovers very quickly
I love your message here! Thank you so much, John Flannery! 🙏
Sorry to hear of Holly's accident and broken wrist. Hope she feels better soon.
Healing vibes to Holly🙏 Thank you John for taking time to speak with us; with you 💯!
Great Sit and Talk John... ❤ Teach Our Children Well ❤️🩹!😊
You are among the finest of men! May your wife heal quickly!
Sending speedy recovery vibes from Bayonne NJ…
That’s a place with Memories
All the best to Holly as she heals. Thanks for taking the time to impart your wisdom. I appreciate it.
Another wonderful session John. Heal up Holly!
Thank you Mr Flannery, I hope Holly heals quickly and with minimal discomfort. Happy Holidays 🎉
Cause he’s an idot
Fascists prefer uneducated people
Healing thoughts for Holly! I appreciate your devotion and care for her.
hope she is OK John !!
So sorry to learn of Holly's injury! (also, for our beloved country) Thank you for your words.
Sending healing energies to Holly and you and the world. 💙🌻🎇🎆🌟🎆🎇🌻💙
Thank you for being a trusted voice of reason, John. Your talks give me hope.
Wishing Holly all the best. ❤
I experienced a broken right wrist in recent years. For me, I noticed afterward that my balance was off a bit during recuperation.
Hope Holly heals well and as quickly as possible.
I'm 77 now and none the worse for wear. 😊
Wishing you both a happy new year!
I have never understood why we, as Americans, are so cruel & heartless to our own people & citizens, yet generous & charitable to others (except incoming immigrants).
Thanks for the talk, Mr Flannery. Sorry to about Holly! Sending prayers and healing vibes to you both!
Hoping Holly heals quickly 🍀🍀 Thanks John as always for your insight and empathy!
Oh no 😢 praying for Holly 🙏💙🤗
Thank you for this timely talk. It's perfect for the season. And healing thoughts to Holly. Having grown up with horses I can relate to the many minor injuries over the years. Be well...both of you. ❤

I am reading Rough Sleepers by Tracy Kidder - about the unhoused in Boston.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Holly. Thanks for another great video, John.
Best wishes to Holly for a speedy recovery. And thank you for your daily insights.
Sorry to hear of her injury! Love your posts!
Thank you John. My thoughts are with Holly hoping she heals quickly with no surgery. Broken wrist survivor here, metal plate and 4 screws.
Thank you for checking in with us tonight. I wish Holly a speedy recovery 💙
I don't know if they were H1bs but working in the late 70s we had Irish girls working at the hotel . Who went on to Austrailia to work etc. It was a great opportunity for young people.
Poor Holly! I hope it stops hurting soon.
I believe H1B1 programs are fine for students, but I don’t believe it should be a bypass to bring on workers hired because they are cheaper than Americans who have the equivalent abilities.
Thank you.
Wishing a speedy recovery for your Bride.
Wishing Holly a speedy recovery!
Wishing a speedy recovery to your wife John. And as for visas, if we price more kids out of school who would be our engineers and scientist, then we do have to import them…just to stay competitive with the rest of the world.
Thank you for this common sense conversation John and all the best with your bride ;-) Have a Happy New Year's Eve! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Blessing Holly for a speedy recovery ✨✨☝️. Ty John, get some rest as well.🕊️🥀
God bless you, Holly. And, John, thank you for your insightful comments.
Holly, I hope you heal up quickly. That has to be painful! Glad you have John and Diana to help, until you're back to full mobility. Sending lots of healing vibes!
Have a good day John and all!💖🌸💕
Speedy Healing to Holly! Big Love to all~
You speak a lot of sense, as usual but what got me the most was referring to your bride, how beautiful, bless you both
Thank you John! Best wishes for Holly,s recovery ❤
Love and blessings to you and Holly. See you on the road.😮😊
Wishing Holly a speedy recovery. Thanks John.
Wishing a fast and full recovery for Hollie, and all the best for you John.
Intelligent, forthright, thoroughly decent. As always. Thank you, Sir!
Sending special prayers for Holly. Bless her heart. Ouch !! She has to be hurting..Happy New Year ❤
Thank you! Wishing Holly a speedy recovery!❤️🩹
Ouch! Hoping Holly heals well.. ✨
Sending healing energy to Holly💖
Sending Holly heeling vibes ✨️ Thank you for your words they give me hope Mr Flannery !
Thank you John! Thank you for giving your perspective on what’s happening. Hoping for speedy recovery for your lovely wife and all the best to you both!❤❤
Thank you jon! Thank you for your humanity and thank you for your loving support of your wife.
