- India challenged the hegemony of five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, asking how long will the will of the five members override the collective will of 188 member states. “This must change,” said Ruchira Kamboj, India’s permanent representative at the United Nations while calling for UNSC reforms. This comes after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India would get the permanent seat at UNSC, but not easily. Tesla boss Elon Musk recently said that India not having a permanent seat at the UNSC was “absurd”.

UN & especially the UNSC is an obsolete organisation that was made after the WW2 but no longer reflects the realities of the 21st century & beyond. Just controlled by 5 countries, 2 of which are dictatorships(China & Russia) & rest 3 are white countries(US,France, UK). It is not at all a democratic organisation when 5 countries have more weight over 190+ countries

The solution seems simple and straight forward but things are not so simple to deal with. These big 5 run the world basically, it'll either create a huge war or the countries that are not very strong in terms of armed forces and finances will perish very quickly. They would want to play it safe instead of just withdrawal and creating a new union

It should be a democracy meaning their votes should decide what needs to be done on world level. And of course if the votes are equal then the contribution should be equal as well. But then that can be thought thoroughly too by world level geniuses.
Disband the UNSC and form a new council that takes the input of all interested nations. I am sure a better framework can be created including financial, military, and demographic criteria. While we are at it scrap the electoral college and give more votes for California, NY and Texas 😂
Every member state should contribute the same financially, but at the moment the permanent 5 are the biggest contributors by far, so of course it makes sense they have more say, also they founded the USNC regardless. imagine starting a business and the employees thinking they have the right to say how the company should be run, fk that.
