- Today we are visiting Juneau on the FIRST cruise to Alaska for 2024! We are the only ship in Alaska this week, what a cool thing! We spent a few hours off the ship, and spent $0 on excursions, while seeing a good chunk of downtown. We only had a few hours in Juneau, as the afternoon was spent cruising the Endicott Arm.
In this video, I reference Adventure Labs with Geocaching. We do these in every port in Alaska, and they bring us to some cool places we may not have otherwise seen.

I see us standing in line at Tracy’s! My daughter is wearing the pink coat at the 5:43 mark. Man this trip was a blast!

@@journeywiththejaneks we got a pound of the king crab and a pound of the snow crab. It was so delicious! I love your series such a different perspective than what we did. But we also had a child and older people in our group. I was hoping to see us in one of your videos😀.

Thanks! The daily vlogs are scheduled for every two days, so the next one will be the afternoon of glacier cruising, being released on Thursday.
Nice video....Red Dog was busy busy busy with just one ship in port. I can't begin to imagine what it is like with multiple ships in port!
Yes it was! We checked the opening time online and it said 11... apparently they opened earlier than that, because we had to wait for seats, and we got there at 11:05!
I've done two Alaska cruises with NCL and on both, we shut Juneau down for the season (it was late October, both times, first on Encore, then on The Sun). Both times we got the best docking slot right in town; I'm kind of surprised that since there were no other ships, you folks didn't get to sneak into the slot usually used for Princess or HA. This last cruise, the T-shirt shop was selling all remaining T-shirts for $5....it was great fun as I picked out shirts for everyone back home!
I was also very surprised they didn't move us to the close dock, wait until you see Ketchikan! That is so awesome about the t-shirts! We were debating doing the last cruise of the season, so this is really interesting. Thank you for sharing!

It was HOT once the sun came out... and of course I had base layers on because it was FREEZING that morning. The problem was the time, we were there from 7 AM - 1 PM.
Hello! Thank you for your helpful videos. I've enjoyed them. Im going on my first Alaskan cruise on the Bliss Saturday. I was wondering for dinner, if they have a night where we have to dress up? I know on Carnival they have an elegant night. Thanks for your help!
I don't recall a formal night. Even if they do have one, it's always optional on Norwegian, with their freestyle cruising style.
Must admit,my interests have piqued.Going "blissful" in Mid-Sept.Would know virtually nothing if it not for these videos.Anyone else with mid_Sept.prior experience?Please wrap your advice in comments!Thanks
Enjoyed this video. I will be on Bliss May 11 - 18. Did you have a Juneau attraction map that showed where everything is? How many steps did you walk from ship to DT and back?
I do not. I used an app called Adventure Labs to do all our walking tours. Once these daily vlogs are done, I'll be doing some tips and tricks videos, one of which will be explaining Adventure Labs.
Hello! From the port to downtown is a little over a mile long from that port and a slight incline walking up around 3:40 of the video.

Perils of Norwegian cruises in Alaska with alternate docks at some ports. Take an independent tour bus to Mendenhall Glacier
Unfortunately they did not have the tours at the dock like usual, because it was so early in the season. But yes, last time I went, I was able to get a bus to Mendenhall. So anyone going later in the season should have no issue getting there!

Awesome! You'll see a lot more whales than we did, and you may even see salmon running in Ketchikan!
May I ask where in Juneau was the Fhilipo BBQ? Is it by the cruise ship or state capital?
It was near the Juneau town hall building! There was a park across the street, and it was right there. If you're walking the same way we did on the Sea Walk, you can't miss it.
You mentioned a Geo Tour in Juneau. That’s sounds interesting, have never heard of it before. How would we find something like that?
