these foster mom monkeys are amazing. this channel is a breath of fresh air for me and love what i see on the work your organization does for these monkeys. when i see the foster mom put her hand around the lil ones it just shows how much they care for these orphan monkeys. really touching to see that kind of display of affection.

🇨🇦❤️ I absolutely love what your foundation is doing to help these little sweethearts re-enter living in the wild. I know that while some people mean well finding these little ones and trying to keep them, it's so much better for them to be brought to foundations such as yours. It's sad to think of them being chained or locked up for the rest of their precious lives

It's cute and funny watching the new baby monkeys take turns giving each other "piggy back rides" to try to reassure themselves and each other (most of them being near the same size). I love all of these animals and thank all of you awesome sanctuary crew, vets, etc.to help them survive and leave places of torture/abuse ( roadside zoos, exotic pets that aren't cared for properly. A friend from America.

Poor little Dirkules. I can just imagine how it happened- getting a big ole bite when his Mum was having some "adult" time with her gentle monkey caller. Ugh! You all are truly doing God's work at the Foundation. I didn't know you were on lockdown again. We will all continue to do whatever we can to help- although I wish it was more! Listening to all of you speak- the way you intimately know each and every monkey, what he/she likes/dislikes, what they look like, their temperaments, their life "story"- it truly humbling and an inspiration. Can't wait to see the YT live with Jason- that sounds like so much fun (well for us, not for Jason!)

It would be cool to see a baby boy monkey named Dave! I love the comments that he makes in the car trips with the baby monkeys. He really makes you realize the little babies loss, and understand what motivated him in creating the foundation. My first friend in life was a baby monkey, a pet, whose owner I met at a little local laundromat with my mother. I was just 4 years old, and the owner would let me hold the baby. My mother always told me I was traumatized when they moved away. The owner gave me a little toy monkey before they left. I must really have been traumatized, for despite having a very photographic memory, I could recall everything about the little monkey, except exactly what her little face looked like. When I found this channel a few years ago, I saw that face again for the first time 50 years, and I'm not ashamed to say that I finally cried my heart out remembering my little friend. I love you guys, the last few years would have been difficult to get through without you.

When they were eating and you were explaining about moms dropping pieces and the babies eating. " Or they take it from mom" lol, was right on que. That was hysterical. You are all truly amazing. Your dedication to these monkeys shows how deeply you really care and what big hearts you all have. God bless you all. Be safe.

I love that there's a monkey named Piglet, and she's also shy! That's so great.
Of course the whole video was great.
So when a monkey has been a pet for a while, it is particularly difficult for them to adapt, even in a integration cage?
    That's so sad.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

unfortunately yes and we have a very small percentage that just cant adapt - we have just received a female of 21 years been captive in a small cage - so she is kind of bewildered at the space she has in an intro cage and loves sitting in the corner staring into the mountains - probably wondering what freedom would have been like

So happy to have found this channel. I am grateful to all the humans who help these wonderful animals. Those channels that make money by dressing, bathing and abusing innocent babies sicken me, they make me hope that those people reincarnate as baby monkeys who end up living as the babies that they abused. Forgive me for wishing bad on anyone, I do have to work on forgiving those people and let our Lord deal with it.

    • @dianakirby4303
      @dianakirby4303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

When I found this channel, I had been emotionally devastated by a pet monkey channel. Now I watch them with a much more critical eye due to what I've learned from these people about baby monkeys. There is a channel where people talk about various pet monkeys and monitor them, and try to find rescue if they need it, and report abuse. The name is baby monkey abusers exposed. While no one wants to see people keep monkeys as pets, we try not to report people just for that, rather we see if the monkey is thriving, or they suddenly disappear.

@@VervetMonkey Seriously this is the best channel on TH-cam hands-down. I really love you guys and I so admire the work that you’re doing and for the sanctuary that you’ve made…. I don’t really have enough words to say how happy this makes me.
I didn’t even know how much I loved monkeys until I started watching some of those other channels where the owners were seriously abusing the animals and oh…my heart was breaking…. I couldn’t believe that they were allowed to abuse these animals and put it up on TH-cam and make money off of it….I mean it shocked me to the bone.
And I really felt something for these monkeys…. And lo and behold one day I stumbled upon your channel and I can’t tell you how happy I was to see that people are actually caring for these baby orphan monkeys and I really applaud you for what you’re doing.
I’m not necessarily in the greatest financial situation….OK ….
      but here’s what I CAN do….
So what I do is I go to all the other monkey channels (there’s like over 100 of them) and I put a post in there with a link to your channel “the vervet forest” and I ask everybody to please go support your channel!
so I’m trying to at least drive traffic to your channel because there’s a lot of people that watch all of those other channels where they’re just straight up torturing monkeys and all they do is make negative comments about it so I tell them, well let’s stop supporting this channel OK people!! let’s stop saying anything at all!
just go to “the Vervet forest” and go see how kind people really treat these beautiful animals!
So for now in my own way that’s how I’m supporting you is by trying to drive traffic to your website and your TH-cam channel so that people can see that it would absolutely be worth a monetary donation to help you continue to do the work that you’re doing.
And oh by the way I absolutely fell in love with the little depressed monkey that finally got a mom and I think his name was Gimlet? Oh my God I really want to adopt him and I just need to find out how I do that because I saw that on your website where you could adopt a monkey and support them and I totally want gimlet!!
I can’t tell you how my heart broke and literally fell out of my chest when he was holding his head down and just not wanting to participate in life at all it literally broke my heart for real and I know it’s just a monkey but you know what he had feelings and emotions and apparently he was checking out and thanks to you guys he’s actually living his best life now and so I identify with this poor little guy and I really wanna adopt him!!
I am so grateful I found you guys Because I find this so calming and I watch your channel practically every night and I’ll even watch some of the videos two or three times just because it’s calming and it makes me happy. I know you don’t have to love a monkey to know that what those other people are doing on those other channels is very wrong.
But surprisingly something that I didn’t know about myself after watching your channel was that I feel so connected to these monkeys and I really want to help…. like I didn’t have any idea I would ever love these baby monkeys that much… but I do♥️💙
      GOD BLESS YOU!
Sorry so long! I’m off now! I have channels to go to tonight so I can educate people about how you care for these monkeys! I hope it brings lots of donations in ! ✝️☮️💟
Hugs please to little GIMLET! 💙💯

When I look at these little ones and right now as I was looking at the little dude separated from mom due to infection, as he's licking & sucking the red juice outta that straw she's putting through the cage, what I see (don't laugh at me but It's like I see a little furry human infant or maybe toddler. Their eyes, the way they look at everything and is like ours. Their hands also like ours and uses them the same way we do. Their feet, slightly different than ours but close enough. They have 2 arms 2 legs and although they use all 4 to move around they still get up on 2 and walk. I think out of all their equal traits it's their eyes that astound me.
As for feelings I still wonder how they handle certain situations. Like an adult mother that looses a child it never looks like they're sad about it. Yet when a newborn baby just born and is taken away from its mother for whatever reason, you see their face and it looks so fearful and is crying. So I wonder why the mother doesn't show her emotions like the baby. I also wonder about their intelligence. I know their smart but I don't think their as smart as a chimpanzee. Or a gorilla.
Anyway superb job all of you are doing for these little ones. Have a blessed day or night.

Great video. Can’t be mad at Fritz holding on, he was such a traumatized baby. In addition to their miraculous natural healing powers, the saliva of some monkeys like rhesus and LT macaques have anti bacterial agents. They lick and pick wounds, picking away at dead skin until it heals. I’m surprised this foster mom was not holding Dirk or licking the wound. Do Vervets lick and clean wounds when injured? I always thought monkeys there had serious limb infections because they were alone or they couldn’t reach the wound. It would be sad if Vervets did not possess the saliva that heals too.

“Communal licking is common in several primate species. In macaques, hair surrounding a wound and any dirt is removed, and the wound is licked, healing without infection.[37]”

If so, do you think a male might want to hurt him, bc he wants to mate with the foster Mum?
(this is all speculation, just a suggestive question, I know sometimes that's what happens with macs)

these little guys can go septic quite quickly and here it is vital to understand that although holistic methods are preferred there is a reason antibiotics help and the need for them is dire. if you have any connections to send antibiotics to this organization please do so as they are needed and as you can see here very needed. if they were available he would have had heavy doses as any vet would naturally have prescribed but due to the shortage they were withheld or given so sparingly they had no initial effect. who is breathing heavily into the microphone. it is quite unnerving and unsettling that someone is breathing so quickly and so heavily quite the concern for their health and well being. someone from the foundation is breathing quite heavily in this video please see a doctor..this is beyond out of shape this is the heart working extra hard to oxygenate. i fear it might be Dave. If so please Dave please seek a cardiologist and pulmonary physician. Without you this whole foundation will lose its center pole holding the works together. please. you are such a giving and kind person and your health is at stake. regardless of your giving to others it is vital that you take care of yourself to be the best you can be for the entire cause. Do not be against caring for your own health and well being. your breathing is quite a concern.and i come to you out of purely love in my heart and soul and mind and body...with the utmost love concern and respect. I am most sincere in my pleading. if you can avoid a heart attack or stroke it is my mission to warn anyone and everyone...once you have one it is very easy to have another and each time it takes a tole on the heart muscle and the brain. please be smart...you have so much to do...let this be your message from the universe Dave ...you must take care of your health and well being it is dire and necessary today this minute to do all that you can to bring your health to the best it can be...for all the giving and unselfishness you so freely sacrifice to others....it is time to give some to yourself. I am a million miles away and I felt really nudged almost needled by the universe to give you or whoever that was breathing so hard in this video that medical attention is not only warranted it is vital to life and any quality of life that medical tests and thorough examinations be given to bring this person an intervention before it is too late. I will get hated for leaving this but my ego is the last thing I am worried about being affected I love my fellow man much more than the mean comments i will undoubtedly receive over this. I cannot help what I have, I never asked to be the receiving end of these knowings i call them but I have been plagued by them since I was a year old. I can recall exactly the first moment i saw and understood something happening before it happened. and as i got to be three and four five and six seven and eight...i saw more and more but could not tell anyone that could understand what i was saying..i gave them the creeps and they said i watched too much tv. but it wasnt and still isnt . i have been able to stop someone from going to an airshow that ended in disaster and where they would have been pre assigned seating their seats were part of the path of the disaster that ended up in the deaths of many civilians. i saw the twin towers i warned my friend an airline stewardess to stay behind and she thought i was crazy but she prayed about it and last minute another stewardess did not show for a flight that was leaving and she was reassigned her flight was the first plane that flew into the first tower. i saw a pregnant woman fall i was able to warn her she fell but was holding onto the side of the staircase bannister because i was able to run out and tell her to grab onto the side right as she stepped on a hotwheel race track ramp a child had dropped as she carried a full basket of laundry and could not see her steps. i was able to tell a best friend that her best friend that had died wanted her to know she was okay and wanted her to know that in the end she knew you loved her and you did not fail to bring her joy and she did not want to die in front of you and she had in a box under the spare room bed buried in a box of paperwork there was a photo of her in a crochet sleeved cream colored dress with her hair and make up done in retro style and she was cutting the wedding cake with her ex...but she wants you to have that picture of her because that is how she will come to you and she had such joy in her life because no matter what she went through chemo and sick bad days and pain you washed all the ikky away and she knows you wont think this is true so she wants me to call you by your nickname and when i said it...she screamed and fell apart...she got on her cell phone calling her best friends mother who was there at her best friends house watching the kids and she told her mother where to go look for this box...i heard talking she put on her speakerphone and asked me where i could hear papers shuffling and then a scream and crying....and her daughters best friend yelled what what? she yelled this is the picture she told me she wanted you to have and i couldnt find it i searched everywhere oh my god my baby...her friend hugged me and kissed my face a hundred times till i was crying. i felt her loss the mother crying still over speakerphone and i said im so sorry you are going through this loss but she is okay now...she is happy and she will never leave you..oh and she said tell Mikey he needs to get back to football she is upset with him...they both screamed...her son had let his grades go and got kicked off the team the day before. i did not ask for this and often i have no strength to endure the constant nagging i feel hey let this one know hey let that person over there ..you cant just walk up to people and say stuff. its painful and hurts and it isnt a joke. it isnt a scam i have never gotten any joy or money never ever ever thought of going into business because it is not a good thing to me...it is a curse i feel. but never the less i love people so this must be my purpose and if my purpose can continue to save or spare anyone heartache or loss of life i will continue to do as i am moved to do by the universe for the most kind and loving thing any of us can do is to be unselfish.to show love and kindness as much as we can to the best of our ability.
