- Hello and welcome to the lunchtime crew's My Hero Academia Chapter Review! This is my review of the recent happenings in the newest My Hero Academia Manga Chapter. and with it sweet mother of Deku and all that is holy, does this chapter go hard! I’m talking rock hard, so hard even Kirishima is going to start getting jealous! Wait that sounded wrong, but regardless if your a fan of Dabi, Endeavor, and the rest of the Todoroki’s then this chapter is most certainly for you!

What makes this chapter so good is that Dabi being the perfect child from the start and If he had given proper training he could have been even more good with his quirk and Endeavor hugging Dabi had me Tears
Proper training would not have done anything, only in life and death situation he could have awaken this ice ability, and he still would have ended all crispy, cause he has ice quirk but his body still is not fire resistant like shoto's is, shot can resist both cold and hot and use cold and hot, dabi can only use and resist ice and can't resist fire, just look at him, he was never going to be an option, much less with his personality
@@GabrielRojasAhumada Absolutely not true. Its impossible for us to know for sure if he’d only be able to unlock his ice powers in a life-or-death situation in an alternate scenario. The Touya that we’re familiar with has gone through about 20 years of repressed trauma that more than likely caused him to subconsciously suppress his ice side due to his insecurities. Which explains why it took all of what’s currently going down in the manga for him to unlock it. In an alternate universe where Endeavor never neglected or given up on him, he would’ve unlocked it eventually in a healthier manner. Only difference is that he wouldn’t be able to use it like Shoto. He’d just have to rely on his ice side more and constantly use it to cool his body down to a point where he can use his fire side without having to worry about burning himself.

Rei being a sleeper is actually cool. Like it's always been obvious that she wasn't weak, but this was actually one of Horikoshi's good surprises.
I always figured if Dabi had an internal cooling and a fireproof constitution, he'd have been the dream child

I wonder if Horikoshi took inspiration from the Infernals from Fire Force for Dabi's new flame-charred look. His design just screams Infernal

Damn this plot twist is fucking batshit hilarious, to see the child that became a villain was already the perfect son he wanted all those years ago, but threw him away, because his latent talent didn’t come out fast enough!

Tbh, while this chapter definitely continues the theme of making Enji’s arc insanely disappointing, I actually kind of love it. Mainly because Rei is finally getting some more agency. Her character has always kind of gotten a bum deal, especially with the fandom, so it’s great to see her step up to the plate and hopefully salvage what’s left of Toya and Enji’s arc. I love the other Todoroki characters, so giving them a part in the final story makes me very happy.
Enji's arc isn't disappointing tho...it's pretty damn good
@@spacecowboy1881 I used to think it was really good. Unfortunately, while I thought the setup was incredible, the payoff has been one of the most underwhelming things in the story imo

I really hope Endeavor is uber popular among japanese audiences. I'm going to skip aaaaaaall of his nonsense in re-reads. Except for his literal blaze of glory against AFO. That should have been the end of his arc.
@@Yodah97 Tbh, his fight with AFO felt like a bit of a tangent too. Instead of his character’s priority being atoning, he fought a villain that contributed basically nothing to his arc. I get that it was realistic in the context of the story, but it honestly felt like the narrative established with his character had been pushed aside by his role of number one hero, which was kind of the problem with his character to begin with.
How much long do I have to see Dabi just suffer on like this 😭

Glad to see Endeavor and Rei finally take responsibilities of Dabi. But if they somehow survived, which I doubted they will, what should they do with their eldest son? Taking care of him for the rest of their lives? And if it is revealed later that Snatch has a son and/or a daughter and they come to demand for Dabi's head, what will be the Todoroki family's reaction to this?
And what will the Todoroki family do upon hearing about Geten is being their relative? Try to reason with him, an extreme believer of Destro's ideology, and offer him a place to stay once he served his time in jail?
I guess it depends on whether or not they even want Geten to be a part of their lives. Just because someone’s related to you doesn’t necessarily mean they’re your family.
As for Dabi if he survives he’d be in really bad shape but he’d still have to pay for his crimes. He’d probably spend the rest of his life recovering and being looked after from the inside of a jail cell.

My best guess is either the Guy will spend the rest of his life being taken care of by his parents behind a Prison cell, though his remaining allies, IF ANY OF THEM ARE STILL ALIVE could try to break him out and use Geten to cool him down with Ice if they eventually break him out.
Even if he survives, which he won't (like his organs are crispier than potato chips) he is still a mass murderer and a national terrorist.

Frankly I just think when people say their 'stretching out his death' you just didn't expect for him to live this long but it's a fictional story so he'll live as long as hori wants him to

Man, if Endeavor Survives this, he's gonna be upping his atoning.
The fact Toya could do ice all along showed how neglect can blow up un your face. And shoto isn't exactly in top tier condition.
If Toya gets out of this alive, Shoto will need to double his training as now he's the only one who can beat his brother.
Also poor Rei, have both your son and cousin be villains must weigh heavy. Shoto has a lot of work to do.
If a sequel does come out of thus, Shoto is gonna need therapy. Big Time.

My guy there was no way anyone would know he had ice powers much less if it would only come out in a stress death like scenario, dabi unlocked that AFTER his brain functions deteriorated to the point of no return, don't you see? Stop trying to defend the killer
All this time he thought his son was suffering but it turns out his son is having a quirk puberty
I see a lot of comments pointing out the tragic irony of Dabi being the perfect child Endeavor wanted from the start but it's not the main point. The point was that Endeavor was WRONG to start a family and create a successor to begin with. Endeavor should never had a child for his own selfish ambition because it's not whether Toya would have been a great hero it's whether Endeavor would've been a decent father to his own children when they needed him and if he would still care for them whether or not they reached his expectations. Even if Endeavor would have discovered Toya's potential early on, he still would have been a shitty father because he would still have seen Toya as a tool and yes you could argue that he would not have been as abusive as he was with Shoto he would have been emotionally abusive and the type of parent obsessed with their child's performance and thus Toya would have the "must prove their worth to earn love" mentality and have intense pressure to meet his father's expectations.
Endeavor is meant to embody the tragic hero who suffers because of his own fatal flaw which is his own self-loathing pride and ambition. Endeavor's self hatred is so toxic that the child who loved him so much grew to hate him just as much, he really is his own greatest problem.
So maybe that wasn't fire we saw in dabi it was ice underneath his chest

After Geten revealed he’s a Himura which means he’s related to Rei and as for Dabi and Geten I can’t tell he’s an Uncle or Cousins to Dabi
Does it matter? It basically means more work for Shoto rebuild his family.

Enji realized that if he had never abandoned Touya in the first place, Touya could have blossomed his ice quirk if given time to realize his potential. With the science they have, it is impossible to consider that Endeavor could not have invested in support gear to counteract Touya's imperfections at the time and still helped.
Thus, Enji is more heartbroken and grief-stricken that he is the one responsible for Touya turning into Dabi, for destroying Touya's future and potential. All for his petty ambitions.
I really do hope that Enji does survive. He needs to continue to atone for his sins.

Awakenings happen in life or death situation it's not something that you can work on over time
Dabi would've died before he even became a pro hero
Uhh no if Enji kept training Touya he would have just kept burning himself Enji would have had to train Touya to the brink of death to make Touya's quirk awaken
Dabi will still end up as a burnt mummy if he got proper training...as he only awaken his ice after experiencing near death

Thank you lunchtime crew for having such great and positive insights into these chapters.
So Geten is a part of the Himura clan and the Himuras are basically the Slytherin family of MHA. Dabi developing ice powers from his mother's Quirk was definitely not on the MHA Finale Bingo Card. Honestly, this adds another layer of tragedy for the Todoroki family. If Toya's ice powers had developed earlier alongside his fire powers, Endeavor could've trained him and the whole mess wouldn't have happened.
I can't wait for Shoto and Iida to arrive. I want to see a rematch between him and Dabi now that Dabi has ice powers.
It feels like Final War is just going to focus the most 4-5 fights like First is Endeavor, Rei and Shoto vs Dabi
Second is Uraraka, Tsu and Jiro vs Toga/Twice’s doubles
Third is All Might vs AFO with his Mecha Suit
Fourth is the others spotlights like Aizawa and Present Mic vs Kurogiri and maybe Dr Garaki will return to get revenge on them with him transformed as Nomu or get Exo Suit like Stockman did on TMNT is the most, Fat Gum and Aoyama vs Kunieda is Second, Sero, Ojiro and Sato vs Gashly is Third, but as for Gunhead, Death Arms, Tetsutetsu and Kendo vs AFO spies and Skeptic is captured by Hound Dog, Ms Joke and Ketsubutsu students are just going to be minors in each chapters (1-2)
And last is Deku vs Shigaraki and Bakugo’s return
but since Counter Force is reacting about AFO is reaching to Deku and Shigaraki they should shows all Heroes and Trainees reactions from separate areas (Teams: U.A., Kamino, Gunga Mountains Ruins, Okuto Island, Troy, Jaku Ruins, Central Hospital, Takoba Stadium, Evacuation Bunkers and Hideout) and after they finished their own battles they will all agree to go to UA to cheer for Deku to take down Shigaraki just like back at Kamino incident they all cheer All Might to take down AFO

Good chapter but I can't get over how forced/contrived the Endeavour emotional breakdown was.
Dabi was ALREADY his fault. It was already his actions of being a fucked up failure of a dad that led to where he is now, but somehow he has to realize it all over again because Dabi wasn't a "failure" of a kid in his eyes and actually had an ice quirk.
It feels like Endeavours reaction is more "Oh no he wasn't a wasted kid, if I'd worked with him more like how I tortured Shoto this might not have happened" as opposed to the revelation of "My horrible world view and idea of trying to breed my kids like they're perfect IV pokemon has led my son to this dark place as a result of my own actions"
Huh. I don't think it was just about Pokemon IVs. To me it seemed like he **also realized** that his desire to make amends to his family won't come to fruition because he has to make amends to Touya first, and that he will lose his life attempting to do so; a feeling he first got after dreaming of his family sitting together but with him out of the picture. He also stated that while Touya has always looked at him (as a kid and villain), he never paid attention back to his son and he's going to do that right now, as they burn to ashes together away from everyone else.

This is just my speculation.
Maybe the reason why Touya didn't show his ice quirk in an early age was because he had his eyes only for his father. He kinda.. Didn't like Rei because her parents sold her to Enji and etc. Hence why he didn't developed his Ice quirk. He looked up to Endeavor so much and wanted to be like him. That's why he got his fire and only reached to its hottest when he was more desperate for his father's attention.
Just like Tenko. His quirk developed by the hatred caused by his family into a decay quirk.
It was a long time coming. Enji and rei had a big role in how toya ended up but that doesn't mean toya's actions after he left are excused. But the parents' mistakes were crucial to the son's path. But this confrontation should have happened before shoto arrives and ends dabi's threat.
I hope there is a spin off with the todoroki family so we can go more in depth

I can’t tell if Geten is an Uncle or Cousin to Dabi since he’s related to Rei and also can’t tell he’s a Sister or Aunt to Rei
Also Re Destro is mentioned again and again on Final War and I wonder once MHA Season 7 premieres Final War on anime will it get a chance to adapt another skip scenes from My Villain Academia like Detnerat commercial/Re Destro kills Miyashita, Re Destro captures Giran and have him delivered to Deika Tower at midnight and Re Destro cries about Curious death while Skeptic torments Giran for questioning the footages by giving him a lecture as flashbacks since Season 6 already adapts League of Villains vs CRC/Spinner gives Shigaraki a development character about what's their goals
this was foreshadowed when Dabi revealed his identity in the flashbacks that happened while they broadcast to the world.

So Touya did have an ice quirk as well like his brother Todoroki, he was just a late bloomer for the power from his mother’s side

Isnt the last time we saw Rei when she was underground in a bunker with the other todoroki siblings? As much as I would love for this to actually be Rei, I also wouldnt be a surprise if its Shoto and Endeavor is mistaking him for Rei in this moment due to heat delusions. That being said if it is actually Rei im curious as to how she got there since Shoto is currently on his way to them anyways

I still belive that touya always have ice power somehow and thats how he could survive as a child , but just by now we can see it ? Idk it makes sense at least
Maybe he had some tiny manifestation in extreme situations. Like while his body was meant to withstand cold better and he destroyed a good chunk of it with his fire powers he still managed to survive some extreme heat although with injuries. Maybe some tiny manifestations semi protected him from dying or making even more damage to himself.
Dabi always did have a ice quirk from the start but since he viewed his mom as weak he probably also thought the ice quirk was weak so he really only focused on his fire side because he wanted to be like his father. Or he could have chosen not to use it like shoto with his fire at first. 😢
He did not always have it. It literally said in the chapter that it was an awakening and one that could only happen when on the verge of death.
I'm not so sure it's accurate to say Dabi always had both sides of the power. After all, it took basically dying to awaken the ice. And his body is still being destroyed by the flames. It's more like an illustration of just how bad for people quirks are. Like serious moment, how are most any of these a good thing?!
I think it also shows how if given more time to develop and push the limits he could have uncovered his ice. BUT endeavor was rushing perfection yet if he hadn’t the other 3 kids wouldn’t have been born 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤔🤔 I think him being pushed to death, nearly and then getting the ice proves he always had. It just would’ve taken an intense amount of training and pushing him to the limit….. but we’ll never know it just shows Dabi could have been shoto
@TooCuteNoir B. not likely. I mean look at how they describe quirk awakenings. I think that really shows that the only plausible way Dabi would have gained ice.... was by dying.
general are just really bad for people. If the world is anything to go off of. Not to mention all of the drawbacks and side effects. Plus Enji really isn't the only one at fault here. Look at the whole Himura family.
@@toocutenoirb.4278 yea let’s not act like we ain’t see endeavor concerned that he kept burning himself trying to practice and this went on for years. That’s why the endeavor story line is so important, because yes “everything is his fault” but the fact remains that with all cards dealt this was the best move to him, and now he’s learned, and is moving forward to be better. This isn’t just endeavors fault, the todoroki family storyline is to show how everyone has some accountability to take in the matter, not just endeavor, because that’s truly how a lot of things go in real life
The bully is never the only criminal, shout out to “a silent voice”. And anyone who isn’t part of the solution is part of the problem
@Jaime Hilaire even as far as the ice awakening goes, Touya would still have to almost kill himself. Because frankly, quirks are terrible! Like none of them have true resistances, they practically ingrain a measure of fear or paranoia, and some can be downright deadly. Touya's general power alone is a good example. He should by all accounts be dead. But AFO's scientists effed around with him to where he's still alive.

Cuz Like I agree w you about the quirks being so destructive but at the same time it could be compared to peoples habits. Eating too much sweets and getting fat, always starting fights and one day getting ur ass beat and humbled, being HIM among your peers and then getting knocked off the pedestal, like there a lot of themes relevant to real life but just portrayed as superpowers.
It’s just depressing to know that he had the potential for ice this whole time, and even tho we all can blame endeavor one way or another, there was no way to know this especially after getting an opinion from the doctor. That’s like the equivalent to a fucked up family in real life, the first son goes out to show the family that he’s a man and he can do bad all by himself, then he gets killed or fucked up seriously and then years go by and you find out “damn even tho he died, he still did or is doing what I said he never could. Did I spark his ambition with my discouragement? Fuck

I think Toya had more potential than Shoto, but Endeavor gave up on Toya too quickly because all he focus on was what he have now rather than what he could of have in the future.

Like he's the only white haired Todoroki that has a fire quirk, it seemed odd. Also, in the Todoroki flashback when Rei and Enji went to see the doctor about what's wrong with Touya, the doctor specifically said that he developed an endurance for the cold (like his mom), not fire. Why would there be an endurance for cold if there was no ice?!
One of the reasons his ice quirk was probably dormant for so long was because he was born prematurely. He never fully developed as a fetus. God, it makes his character all the more tragic and I love it!

Duh everything was Endeavors fault, he should’ve gave Dabi more time to develop his quirk or atleast helped him counter the negatives instead of cutting to conclusions and cutting him off.
