Very cool, always loved Joe Jusko. The 90s sometimes get a bad rap (I personally love that era) but his Marvel Masterpieces were some of the absolute best work from back then. Was thinking about art books the other day and how much I wish DC or somebody would do a Steve Lightle book. His death from covid was so sad, would be nice to celebrate him and support his family.
I briefly met Joe and his wife at LA Comic Con 2016. They were both really nice and I got a sick Daredevil print that was used as a variant for the Soule/Garney series.
The best art books I have are the Frank Frazetta hc collections: Icon, Legacy, Testimony, from the 90’s. It’s unfortunate that they’re oop and crazy expensive, they’re spectacular.
The Joe Jusko Marvel Masterpieces is a book of the set released in 2016. The holy grail of marvel card collecting. The sketch cards he did were randomly inserted in packs.
Joe Just was a profound influence on my artwork. I have 2 of the comic books that were reprintings of the card series. I really learned a lot from his artwork and tried my best to recreate it using markers and colored pencils. I absolutely love art books, most of the ones I have are film and comic book related films. I have 12 of the Marvel film art books, several from the DC films and other science fiction and Disney animation books too. I really love learning about the process in getting to the final look/design.
I have that Joe Jusko book but now I have to get that Painted Comics book to go with the other art books I have...Alex Ross, Jock, Brian Bolland, Lee Bermejo etc.
Very cool video Omar!! The Spectrum book series is also pretty interesting, just skip the last two editions which to me lacked the same warmth and the Fenner editions.
Very good!also the Marvel Masterpieces by Joe Jusko was very Remarkable.also when I get the time I'll pickup a copy of both the Marvel Masterpieces Trade paperback and the art of Painted Comics books as well, also both books are excellent .Also thanks for sharing Omar you too Derek 👌 up the good work Guys Stay healthy stay safe much love and have a Happy Martin Luther King day.☺☺☺🇺🇸😇😄😃😎
Omar you should get the Marvel Comics Library Spider-Man vol 1 and do a review it’s a art masterpiece. Reproduced from the best original Amazing Spider-Man comics onto high quality newsprint paper as close to how it would have appeared in the 60’s as possible. I’ve got it Highly recommend it.
The Signature Art of Brian Stelfreeze is a excellent book. Also, Bill Sienkiewicz: Revolution is gorgeous as well. Both currently in print.
Hey, glad to see this go up! Thanks for checking em out. I wasn’t worried haha
I really like those artist-centric art book reviews.
Give us morrrr!
Love these books and put both of them on my shopping list. I hope you'll be making some more videos about this type of art books in the future!
I loved the stuff Joe Jusko did for WWF decades ago. The Royal Rumble ads were amazing!!!!!!

Thanks !!
If Marvel didn’t send you art books and poster books (this style of book bot these exact ones obviously), would you go buy them?
