I am late to the party, I guess. I am a natural dirty blonde with natural red highlights. I only used Mehandi senna for conditioning, and one time I used a "temporary" wash-out dye that tinted my hair for over a year. I have never had salon color or a home lasting dye kit used on my hair. In 2016, I added 3% BAQ henna to my senna, and haven't used anything that would possibly color my hair in the past 3 years. I am going on 57, and surprised that I have been gradually turning more and more mousy brown since the change. I found my first white hair last November, but haven't seen one since. I am grandmother to a 6 y/o girl and twin 3 y/o boys and have been waiting on some white hair to go with the title of "Anny". At this rate my poor daughter (mother to the twins) may go grey before I do.
When I decided to go grey everyone, I mean everyone in my life tried to talk me out of it. Now 3 years after I stopped dyeing, these same people say my hair is pretty. I myself don’t actually care what people think. I love my hair. ♥️😁
Hi y'all, I am 32 years old and I HAVE GRAY HAIR! It took me good few months to decide to let it grow and my biggest excuse was - I was scared and I loved my bright red/ ginger/ orange color I had for years. It was my husband who suggested me going natural and now he loves every centimeter growing in and studies the play of colors often. 10 months in and will not look back. Thank you Renee for your wonderful support, sending y'all blessings from Ireland!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls Well, my natural hair is dark, not brown, not black, but really dark gray like ash mouse - cold. And my growing out color is faded red, so something like dirty yellow - warm. I'm in progress... but one day it will be completed and beautiful. And then I will let it grow long to my waste as my red hair was. :) And also I have those two main silver strains on sides. Its very interesting to watch.
This summer i will be 49. I stopped dying my hair in fall of 2018. I have gotten support from friends but criticism from others..." you are too young for grey hair"... well if I was too young for grey hair then it wouldn't be growing in grey. My hair is so healthy now that I stopped. My scalp is so healthy now that i stopped.... #lovinmygreys
I am 55 and and started my transition at 40. Towards the end of the transition, I started becoming more aware of my “style”. While I don’t spend money on dye, I do spend it on getting my hair cut regularly and try to make sure it is always neat and tidy. As best I can, make sure my clothes are stylish - frumpy washed out clothes are more aging than grey hair. Agree 100% about beiges and similar - don’t even think about, even if they are on sale. Invest in a good bright lipstick.
Not on that fence anymore, four months in now and it’s so freeing I love it ! I’ve had nasty comments said to me and yes it hurt at first but now I don’t care what ppl think , it’s my journey, my hair lol , love ya girl !!!
1 yr & 9 months of no dye and I’m ridiculously happy with my grey goddess hair! 🙌🏻 My hair has never been softer and more beautiful. Not everybody gets it but that’s ok. I’d rather be my authentic natural self than please others. Go for it ladies!! And your curly greys are gorgeous girl!!
I love all of your videos! I have curly hair, too. I am 8 months into the process of going grey, cold turkey, of course. My husband has been supportive since day 1. I haven't got a negative comment yet! I actually love the whole process of going grey. It makes you very confident in yourself. I look forward to seeing your videos! I am 52. I wish that I would have done this a lot sooner.
That's what so many women tell me.....they wish they had gone grey sooner. And I am in that group too. Wish I had done it about 5 years sooner. Thanks for sharing!
I dyed my hair for about 30 years, no one ever stopped to compliment me, however once I ditched the dye I have had so many lovely things said to me. I’m sure people do talk behind my back but I am like you and don’t care any more. I love my grey hair now, it has given me more confidence than I ever had before. Enjoy your curls!
I had many naysayers in my life but, after about nine months, they began to give me compliments. Now, 14 months in, I have an aunt who has started her journey, a cousin who keeps asking questions and wanting me to text her pics of my hair, and a friend who keeps talking with me about it. Ditching the dye is SOOOOO liberating! I also work in commercials and TV and it has not affected my work at all. 😀
I’ve been coloring my hair for 35 years and have had no intention to stop, even though I hate going to the hairdresser every 4 weeks to have it done. Your videos have been encouraging, and I’m considering letting my hair go gray. I can’t think of a better time since it may be at least two months for our state to make beauty salons available. By that time I’ll be partly there (my hair is short and straight)!
My hubby said about year ago when I talked about going grey, “you aren’t ready for that” I guess meaning that he wasn’t ready! Lol This past Nov was my final time to colour my hair! Hubby said about 2 months ago that he liked the white at the front and thought it was sexy! I’m 68! He also said that quite a few of his friends had said they also like what I was doing with my hair! 🙂 I think I used a few of those excuses! 😂 I’m in this for the long haul now! Thanks for your videos!
My adults kids respected since day one when I decided to go grey and so did my husband but not my mom. She just can’t get over it. She keeps telling me how old and wore out I look. Oh my god my mom can’t even respect when i say that no matter how much she hates it I won’t never dye my hair again ever. I will never understand how some rude people can say something bad about your beautiful hair, must be envy. I love the tee you’re wearing I have got the same. Love from Sweden 🇸🇪 ♥️
You look amazing. I stopped coloring over a month ago cold turkey. Just was tired of all the chemicals to be honest. I colored for over 30 years. I cannot wait to see what my natural grey will come in like!
Hi! I'm so glad to have come across your videos today!!!. I'm 62 and a curly girl who always thinks about going gray. Since we've been homebound and all salons closed...what better time to GO FOR IT!!! Thanks for your videos, perfect timing. Your hair is beautiful:)❤
Thanks so much Karin! Glad to have you on my channel. From one curly gal to another.....going grey has been a wonderful experience. Our curls make the transition less horrible and very interesting!
My DH is actually the one who is going grey! People have commented, he's been asked by complete strangers if he'll dye it. If I am there with him I will look at the commenters in the eye and tell them they are my greys, I gave them to him (he started going grey about the same time I had some rather big health scares) and I love them. They give me a weird look and he gives me a hug.
I'm 42 and a ginger. My hair is now turning a very dark brown. My stylist says it happens to a lot of redheads before they go grey. I'm so excited! I just can't wait! My mom has the most beautiful hair ever & I hope mine looks just like hers. I've been waiting my whole life for this!
I am a natural dirty gingery blonde, fixing to be 57 shortly, and in the last couple of years my hair has been gradually turning more and more mousy brown. I found my first white hair last November, but haven't seen one since. I wonder if some blondes also turn darker before going grey?
I teach elementary school. The first day they came in after my first transition step (I’m getting the dye bleached out over time), they definitely noticed and asked what happened to my hair. I put on a shocked face and said, “What?! It was dark when I came in!” They laughed, and I did, too, and now it’s just something they accept. I went from box dye black and what’s growing out is a pure, bright, solid white. It’s still a waiting game, but so much fun. You look fabulous, and it’s nice to watch someone else’s journey! There are already so many benefits to ditching the dye, and the list keeps growing. 😊
I experienced that whatever thing you make to your hair, there will always be someone to comment... event if it's only a new haircut! Three years ago, I did have my natural grey hair... I changed job. All of my new colleagues and even my boss were commenting on that... Under this pressure, I dyed my hair. It lasted a year and a half and I regret it so much, with all the roots touch up... Now, I am on my journey to find back what I have lost!!!
I needed to hear this. You are truly inspiring! Been thinking this is a good time to actually do it after thinking about it for awhile. I’m 44 and tired of the constant colouring (for YEARS) and the need to “hide” my grey. In my head I have most of those excuses floating around with the biggest one being fear. I know my husband and daughters would be fully supportive...and that’s what matters most...it’s getting past knowing people will talk and not letting the negative comments get to me. So I want to thank you for your positive spirit! You are beautiful :)
Thank you so much!!! I know you can do it. Once you get your mind set on it....don’t look back. You will be so glad you made the decision to go grey. And we’re all here to help!💕
Right on Renee! Brush away, literally, negative comments. Life is better when you're a positive person. Keep on keeping on. Blessings to you and yours.
Love your videos...I started my journey 6 months ago and I just cut my hair short and it all natural! It’s really white in the front and salt/pepper in the back. Everyone, including me loves it and it is so much softer than before. No more hair loss either. My hair is in the best shape it’s been in 30 years! Best thing I have ever done. It was hard to go through the “unkept” phase at work, but my hair was long so I pulled it up a lot and made it work. I let everyone on my job know what I was doing and they supported me. I told them my goal was to grow it out enough to get it cut short and they were so excited to see the finished product. In fact, some said I looked 20 years younger-with the gray!!! If you are on the fence, I promise you, you will love the end result!
I'm 28 y.o, have little to no silver hairs yet, but I find ur videos SO INSPIRING! I have been dyeing my hair since I was 11 y.o (yes, eleven!!), changing compulsivelly from browns to reds and so on. I have tryed to embrace my natural colour (dark ashy blond) SO MANY TIMES, but I always go back to the dyes, just because I get bored of my face and wanna feel different. My journey for natural hair has started (again) 1 month ago, hopefully this time I'll be able to feel more comfortable on my own skin. Thank you for sharing your experience, It's very helpful! Hugs from Brazil!
LOL....you get bored with your face??!! How about experimenting with new eyeshadow colors, lipsticks, or jewelry? These things can be changed every day if desired....but keep your grey hairs coming!
You did not have my concern on your list. The last time I tried to go gray, my gray was so ugly. I am a very light blonde that started getting mousy about 20 years ago. My hair looked like ugly mouse hair, so I started using a demi color to match my blonde, and just cover the gray. I think that it is still going to look mousy. Like a rodent! I love gray hair, but not mine. I am going to give it a try. I now have 3/4 inch roots. Too soon to know what it's going to look like. If I had gray like yours, I would be very happy, but I won't. I can't believe that anyone would say such mean things to you. Your hair is enviable. I think those mean people feel afraid. Thanks so much. I love your 'y'alls'. I grew up in Texas and say y'all all the time.
There is nothing more comforting than a good "y'all" LOL!! Keep me updated on your grey hair growth. Hopefully you'll find that possibly a different haircut or layers could make you feel better about the mousy color just until you get enough grey to see what it's actually going to look like. And...ask your stylist about a BLUE shampoo. I have to use a PURPLE shampoo....but I think that BLUE shampoo is specifically for ladies with blond hair? Not sure to maybe look into that.
I’m 55 and I’ve used henna on my hair for 25 years. I use a combination of henna and indigo. I use high quality henna and do it myself. Henna is so much different than dying HOWEVER I think it’s time for a change. You are inspiring me. Thank you!
I’ve just started the process and only have about five weeks of roots. My number one reason for not wanting wanting to grow out the grey is the process of growing it out. I just want to snap my fingers and have it be grey. But I’m committed. I’m so grateful to women like you who create these videos to help us have the courage to ditch the dye ❤️😊❤️
Hi Jene! I totally get you. I also wanted to have it done in one instant. But after researching and trying some of the methods that could make that possible...the negatives were too great. Now that I’m almost on the other side of this, I’m so glad I took the slow journey and let it grow naturally. I think you will feel the same. And thank you for the kind words. So glad I can offer some inspiration 💗
Those white hairs will just keep coming the older we get! Its ashame that I was putting black dye over my beautiful white strands all those years. When I told my hairdresser I was going gray she said why would you do that? But after she saw it now she said it looks beautiful. My husband told me to just stop using dye he knew when he meet me I had white hair so he excepted it. Some how white hair makes my skin look radiant and I felt more confident in myself Its like telling everyone this is me take it or leave it!!!
You are awesome 👊💥 I stopped coloring my hair... but I am not going gray! Is there anybody else out there that got fed up with coloring their hair? Anyone else tired of being what we think we should be? I am 51 and I stopped coloring my hair 3 years ago. I caught quite a bit of grief from everyone who was used to seeing me with red hair. Most of my friends color their hair and think I should color mine as well. My hair has never been this healthy and shiny... EVER! I look more natural then I did when I colored my hair and my hair matches me. I really appreciate your videos and would love to hear a shout out of support to those of us who just wanted to stop coloring our hair. I can't be the only woman who wanted to embrace the beauty of virgin hair. I only have a few gray hairs in the front. I call them my wisdom highlights and believe it or not... I cannot wait till I get more 🖤🤍🖤
I just found your vidios. I love, love, love your gray hair. I ditched the dye two years ago. I get more compliments than ever. Ladies asked how I did it. I just stopped Men tell me they like my gray and tell me my hair looks great.
The excuse I always hear is well I would do it if I knew mine was going to look like yours. They tell me they like my grey highlights. Also I heard my face already looks old, if I let my hair go gray then I'm going to look like my mom. I always tell them, you're not going to know how its going to look until you let it grow out! I didn't know how mine would look until I got to about 6-7 months grow out. I love your hair, looks great!
My hair style is a short Bob. Took maybe 7 months to grow out. I don't have roots. I am very lucky. My hair grew out very even. It looks like I spent a lot of money to get highlights. A lot of women ask me where I got my color. Have been in sitting in her chair to get haircut and someone comes in and says they want their hair colored like mine. All the stylist say, It's Natural. It happens a lot. I had grey hair when I was 18. So glad I did it. Only way your going to know is to grow it out.
Thanks for this one! You have been my role model during my transition. I ditched the dye a little over a year ago and have been cutting my hair in little bits until I only have a small amount of rest dye on the ends of my hair at the back. It was the best decision I made, I absolutely adore my silvers (salt and pepper) with dark brown at the back like you. Keep up the amazing videos and stay safe 😘💐
Thanks Christiana!!! That is very sweet of you! I am looking forward to snipping off those last bits of brown hair this summer. You can bet your booty I'll be making a video about it too!
I ditched the dye several years ago. I loved it then. I love it now. So much healthier for my scalp & hair. EASY. No touch ups. No more skunk look. Yuck. I'm 65 & I've earned these silver white locks. It says in the bible that it is your glory. I thank God for my glory. Keep on fighting the good fight!!
I can honestly say its the best feeling in the world, not to have to worry about coloring my hair anymore. I have been dye free since 2012, and I get so many compliments on my curly white and silver short pixie style. One thing I absolutely love is no matter what color glasses I wear they look gorgeous with my silver and white curly hair. When it was time to get new glasses I purposely got a vibrant blue with bling on each corner, so many people compliment me on them and my white and silver hair. Ladies ditch the dye and just feel free. Sending ya'll love and hugs from sweet Home Alabama, Everyone stay safe and God bless you all.
Hey Alabama! We're neighbors! And I totally agree with your perspective on colorful glasses. I recently got my first pair of reading glasses, and I picked out purple frames. Love them....and wearing right now :)
I went gray a long time ago. I stopped because of time constraints, money and health. It is not good for us. I had a bit of a preview because I developed a silver streak that showed me the color it would be. One secret that you know is the purple shampoo. It is amazing. I get compliments everywhere I go even on a bad hair day.
Heard or used some or all of the excuses. I made a decision to stop coloring cold turkey last yr. and I stuck to it! Best decision I ever made! Watching Renee helped me get through it. Renee your bouncy personality is so encouraging! My support system was better than I thought. I love my shiny, silver, healthy hair!! Just do it ladies! ❤️
You were one of the people with a channel who convinced me to go gray. Last month, after a year, I went back to color. My husband had been supportive, no one said anything negative. It was ME who was looking in the bathroom mirror, and seeing a washed out, older looking woman staring back at her. I am almost 60, and with my light, olive skin tone, the ashy grey tone does nothing to enhance my look. Even with some makeup, not cutting it. My husband, always complimenting me almost 40 years now, admitted that the grey was not a good look for me AFTER I told him that I was going to color. I still need to work, and have experienced ageism for the past 10 years. Because of so much grey, I was able to go Golden blonde and it took; I was always dark brunette like you, Renee, and could never go much lighter. I color at home, concentrating on the roots, so far my hair is in good condition. One day, when work and situations in my life change, I’ll know if, and when, I’m ready to permanently ditch the dye. Thanks for inspiring me to give it a try, as I so desired to do it, and now at least I know what to do at this point in my life. Stay well and safe.
Renee this is all true, and this is ALL that I felt. Started on a Month. Fortunately my Husband and my Sister that cuts my hair is on board. I'm so scared but excited great video!
Hi Renee! Another great video! I just have to say that I am very surprised to hear that people write nasty things like your hair is ugly. I love your hair. Remember Renee, haters are gonna hate and those nasty words are just reflections of their miserable lives. I agree with all of your 9 points and especially reason #1. Before I finally took the leap into transition I was scared. Not about what others thought or said but how I would feel about my self. It’s about being secure and feeling comfortable in your own skin. I just have to mention one more thing. If your hairdresser doesn’t support you it’s probably because of the $200+ dollars they’re no longer going to get out of you. I had my hairdresser tell me it’s not time, that I was too young. Ha! I turn 56 this year! Do you want me to wait until I’m 80???? I think not! Any who, please keep doing what you’re doing because I wait for your next video with anticipation! You are beautiful!😊
Thank you so much! Your comments are always so sweet and comforting...and I truly appreciate it. So many women say their hairdressers aren't supportive, and I agree with your point about them losing income when a client stops coloring her hair. Honestly....your hairdresser should want whats best for you. I think if we all start a movement to go grey, hairdressers would have no choice than to be supportive. And going grey is scary just as you said. You completely get me....thank you for that!
Thanks so much Renee for your encouraging words about going grey. I have been watching your videos for the last 3 months and I decided not to color my hair! I was in the worry department before going grey and felt scared but no more! I even told my daughter who always comments on my hair and my clothes, always good comments. My daughter said " Good for you Mom!" that encouraged me all the more. Keep up the great work and I am even going to check out your Tee's I think they are sweet! God Bless ! Dottie St George
Dottie....you are wonderful!! I love your reference of "the worry department".....where are you from? Good to know you have a supportive daughter. You can do this!! And we are all here to help you :)
I felt old seeing white hairs gradually come in but I was on the fence between knowing I hated the thought of dying my hair every 3 weeks and not liking getting older. I talked to my husband (who already started going gray himself) on what I was going through. He expressed the same exact thoughts he had as well. He told me if I knew myself then to just let it happen naturally cause I would regret it if I did dye it cause then I’d have to either keep it up or grow it out. My mom has been dying her hair for years but because of covid she stopped dying her hair so I guess you can say we’re both going through this together.
I’m the same age as you and have been coloring my hair for about 20 years. I am in the transition now but taking a different route. I have some of your excuses! 1. My young child is only 12. I used to say and still mean it, I don’t want to be called his grandma even though I know I’m old enough to be his grandma! 2. I have a highly visible job in event/meeting planning and my boss who is two years older than me is very posh and well-kept. I am expected to maintain her standard of professional appearance. 3. I have a darker complexion. I am 40% Spanish/Native American and have had very dark hair most of my life. With that said, I’m on a five year plan. In five years my son graduates high school and I’m tapping out of my corporate life then. I’m not sure how yet but it’s happening! Two years ago I was tired of my constant skunk stripe ruining my hair every 10 days. My different route is that I am now much lighter due to continued coloring. I was hesitant since I had disastrous results when trying this in the past. This time I let my hairdresser drive the lighter shade and it has taken time but I am now mostly blonde on top, a color I never thought I could pull off. My plan is to slowly work in the white up there. Within the next five years I will hopefully be off the color for good. I do not enjoy the process and cost of getting foils done and if something (praying nothing) happens to my corporate job due to this pandemic then my plans will change again. I guess the short story is that I’m open to change just trying to be more subtle about it. PS: just found you channel and I love it! I’m on my 3rd border collie mutt rescue dog so Pollux is the reason I found you!
I'm 30 and I'm starting to get grey hairs popping up. Just a couple at the moment but I plan on letting it grow naturally now. Ive had it dyed every colour in the rainbow and i look forward to seeing what colour my body comes up with 😁 There's a woman in my town in Scotland who is in her 70s now but for as long as I could remember she always rocked beautiful long grey hair. Her and her husband always wear traditional Scottish clothing and they are just stunning to look at. I always admired her confidence. I totally agree, who cares what other people think! I can't read their mind so it's not my problem! Lol. It's sad that people leave hateful comments about other people's looks in 2020. They obviously aren't happy within themselves. I truly look forward to he the day I have a full head of silver/grey/white hair that doesn't involve a bottle of bleach and toner!! Rock it girls!
I use your videos like a pep talk. My hair is wavy (2b and 2c in other parts), but I feel more connected to you because you're a brunette, and well I just started my journey in this. I found my first greys when I was 18. I resisted the hair dye temptation until I was 34. I'm 49 and I'm tired of it. I live in the UK, but originally from Chile and my people tell me that I'll look older and all the things you mentioned. I'm doing it anyway (I'm in 1 1/2 months now) and I just take it day by day. In my case, I was going to the hairdresser every 2 months and my roots were very visible (there are pictures of me with my visible roots). My greys always were peeking out after a week. It was disappointing to spend so much money for nothing. 2 years ago I was going to do it, but I surrendered to the hairdresser once again. I moved cities and I still can't find a hairdresser, so I decided to just try to grow my hair. and that's it. We'll see. I want to see the pattern in a few months. Sorry for the wall of text. P.S. Please, never cut your hair. It's glorious!
I had to pause your video to comment. I have grey hair and dye my hair. The biggest reason people don’t go grey is fear . You do address the issue but as I’m watching your video, I stopped at 12m15 , I am feeling shamed for covering my grey.If you’re trying to encourage people to go grey then don’t make them ashamed for dyeing their hair. Also, everybody has different hair texture. You have a full head of beautiful curls . Your hair looked good dyed and it looks good grey .
my haidresser refused too. she told me i would look old. i ditched her 2 years ago. i let my hair grow out for 4 months and got a really short pixie. been happy since. i am about 50% gray. mostly the front. the back of my head not gray either... but it will get there. just will take time. my mother is like yours... now she saus my gry gair would not look nice like yours.
NO! NOOOO way!?? do people really leave nasty comments? Just amazing! I would never and will never. I can't even comprehend it. That's just sad to think about and how sad those people must be. what a bummer. WEll, I think your hair is great! and I have been transitioning for about 8months. i only have spots though it is really weird. lol My husband is loving it and has been trying to get me to do for along time.
I think your hair looks fabulous! None of the excuses you listed is a problem for me except the work-related one. I have at least another 10 years to go until I retire and I hate my current job. I'm looking for another job so ageism does concern me but can't wait until I don't have to worry about that and go grey. I stopped straightening my hair over 10 years ago and started wearing my naturally curly hair out so everything in due time.
I'm 56, and I don't color my hair anymore. Believe it or not, most of my hair grows in still light brown. When I was coloring my hair, the gray seemed to be more prevalent. I think its because coloring is hard on your hair, and grays are sometimes harder to color. So although I do have gray hairs, it still comes in brown. I am of the belief that to stop coloring can make your hair healthier, no matter how many grays a person has.
What a wonderful video. Just starting my journey. My husband says I am going to look gorgeous and my daughters are all so supportive and my oldest is my hair dresser. By the way I love your accent and your hair. I too have curly hair. Happy non coloring from Canada😃
Great video, so glad I found your channel! This is my second round going gray. I like being different (HAHA) so I when went gray and again I found it to be unique, like me! Keep the videos coming!
Oh hey Linda!!! Thanks! You should see me now....I'm a hot mess! LOL. It's a beautiful sunny day here...and since I'm stuck at home....I've been working in the yard. I love being barefoot in the grass and sweaty!
I am number 1 too!... wow, I have almost all these excuses!... thank you Renee!... this was an awesome video!... much love and appreciation!!!.. you rock!💜💜💜💜💜
Hey Renee! Mine IS coming in mostly white! I guess b/c I'm probably 10 years older than you. I am totally okay with all white..so, that tells me I am more than ready to "ditch the dye". LOL! I wish I could convey the freedom I feel! I've always had dark hair, so, the lighter color hair is a huge change. Going cold turkey was best for me..this way I see the dark hair disappearing slowly. If I had dyed my hair all gray at the beginning..I am sure I would have caved. It would have been too much of a shock. I think.
Hi there Renee, I'm new to your channel. It popped up suggested and I'm very happy it did. It popped up while I was watching a critter video, your video was introducing Pollux. I am greying, have been for years, probably about fifteen, I'll be 55 in July. I never colored my hair, only had it streaked a couple of times around the time I started noticing the greys. I didn't notice them until
I'm 100% Armenian, and my natural color for the first 18yrs of my life was jet black with blue highlights. At 19 when that one lonely white streak appeared, I freaked. I wish now I had never dyed my hair. All the $$$ & time I wasted, not to mention the damage I did to my hair. It wasn't worth it. I dyed my hair bc I felt I was too young to start going grey. Now I embrace my glitter and every night I pray that when I wake it will be pure white. Love this video, made me laugh.
I never dyed my hair. Love the silver color it is now. I don't use make-up either except a pinkish lipstick, one in a moon. I use lip balm all the time. some people do turn grey early in life. Saves money not to dye your hair. And some of that hair dye can be toxic. Natural beauty is always better.
My daughter and daughter in law forced me to let go of my "copper" hair and let it go grey. The only reason I continue is because they love my grey. There are several reasons I still dislike my grey hair after 1 1/2 years even with all the support from family, including my husband. First, I had curly hair, but not as beautiful as yours. I have RA, so doing all that grooming kills me, so wash and scrunch was my beauty routine for several years. I'd colour my hair a beautiful reddish brown and the dye and conditioner would make my hair soft and manageable. Now, my medication has straightened my hair :( .... I always loved my curls. I find the grey hairs wiry and makes me look like a witch unless I fuss and primp while using tons of product. Secondly, I'll be 59 this year. Grey hair looks fantastic on women who still look youthful, it doesn't really age them because the whole picture is still one of freshness. For me, well, I look my age now... my only relief is that I'm not going to scare anyone when they see me from behind, think I'm young, and give them a shock when I turn around hahaha! I'll keep my greys, I'll live with it, tolerate it only because my "girls" wanted it and what my girls want, my girls get! I will admit though, my greying pattern is really pretty, so there's that.
@@WelcomeToMyCurls I should have added that I first found you when I saw beautiful Pollux and watched the video. I didn't notice the title of your channel until afterwards (but I did admire your curly grey hair). I'm sticking around so that I can learn to love my hair. Maybe you can address how to make grey hair softer and more supple? The texture is killing me.
Renee if I had your curly thick hair I probably would try it not sure I got straight sauerkraut in fine hair so I still do root touch up but I love your hair specially with all the colors I'm jealous of your thick hair
Just to be clear about #2....you DO NOT look old and you DO look really good with your hair like that. I hope I look as good. Also, I know most women love their gray hair but are there ever any women who grow their hair out and then dont like it and go back to coloring it?
A good friend of mine keeps trying to ditch the dye, and just when her hair starts to really show the silvers, she freaks out and dyes it again, because she says it makes her look like her mother! She and her mother don't get along so I guess I can understand? Still though.
I love your hair & the curls! I wish that I could be as brave as you. My natural color is almost black & when I did color over the years more blue black & have naturally curly hair as well. I noticed as time went on (around 37), I got white/silver hairs on my temples (right upper side of my forehead) & had to color more frequently. I just start to see massive amounts of roots that are black with a ton of white streaks & freaked out. Did you notice with your dark hair more brown & yellow areas by the gray/silver? I actually had my hair bleached blonde a few months back=huge mistake!! Since then put some semi dark blue black that has a purple based undertone so it wouldn't fade green. The back of my hair isn't really gray & in the front I left some light blonde parts out where it naturally grows in silver white side temples & right side of my forehead area). Lately the roots have been growing back black with lots of silver :( It really feels odd where I have a love/hate relationship with it & want to dye over it. Weird though, I get so many compliments on my blue hair lol. It just seems hard to make the transition but don't want to look old (I am 45 btw) so I played with color even though semi fades. Maybe colored shampoo as it grows? Not sure if anyone has tried that? Any suggestions are appreciated :)
Hi Kristen! First of all, I am 48. My natural hair color is black. Once I stopped coloring my hair, I was so surprised at how much of my natural black hair is still growing. I do have areas where the silver is more concentrated like in my temples...but overall I have a fairly even mixture of black to grey. You should watch my video WEIRD THINGS ARE HAPPENING WITH MY GREY HAIR. It's about how the back of my head is completely split in color...one side is grey and the other is black. I think this video would help you get a better understanding of how grey hair can differ in areas. And I use a purple shampoo to keep my grey hair bright. It removes any yellowing. Hope that helps!
Hairdressers who don't want you to go grey just don't want to loose the money they charge you for a dye job! I went grey 5 years ago and I love it. I save money, I don't have to sit in that chair, with that awful smell every 6 weeks or so. I do not miss it at all. My hairdresser says that other people actually pay to get the streaks of white that I have naturally in my hair. Mine turned out to be salt and pepper and I think it is very pretty. Besides when you get older, you know you are older, other people know you are older....who are you kidding anyway? I say ditch the dye.
re: workplace comments/disadvantages: Pick a classic style that works for you hair type. Also, step up your skincare routine and learn to up your makeup game. I don´t think I ever received a negative comment - or I just don´t remember them :)
Girl, some people have really UGLY, mousey, drab-brownish grey hair. LIKE ME! It's been FIFTEEN YEARS of going grey and it won't go COMPLETELY grey and it SURE doesn't look great like YOUR hair. I WISH I could be "white headed" My local, affordable hair stylists refuse to help my grey be pretty and not like a mud puddle in New York city.
Ooooo Gabriela.....I'm probably not the best person for that. I only know how to use a headband, barrette, or ponytail. I have very limited ability when it comes to styles. I'm sorry!! But thank you for watching my videos and making a suggestion! I truly appreciate it :)
What about the frizzy, kinky look of the newly immerging white or grey hair, especially near the lower face and ear area? This is why I am concerned while I am growing out the dyed portion of my hair. Anyone got the advice to white frizzies. My normal hair is not frizzy or curly, just a little wavy. How do I smooth out the white?
The only reason to dye your hair other than because you want to is if your livelihood really depends on it, which is an unfortunate a reality for a lot of women in a society that rewards and punishes women for their age and appearance. And most women don't have the privilege of picking and choosing among employers who won't discriminate against them for having grey hair.
I think women don’t know WHAT 40 year olds hair look like. I am 55 and all of my friends (up to 60s) have dyed hair. But everyone says they love my hair. The #1 I hear is “well mine isn’t pretty like yours.” But you honestly have no idea what it will look like for at least 6 months.
I prefer my hair color and will probably never stop dying my greys. I make no excuses for it....makes me feel older than I truly am....BUT due to the current situation, let's see what will happen with my greys TBD
My excuse is I don't have a husband yet, and who is going to find me attractive with salt and pepper hair at 34? Society's standard of beauty scares me.
Most men are starting to show some grey in their 30's too. If someone loves you for you....then he will appreciate and support YOU BEING YOU. Just my thoughts :)
Oh no.....am I out of stock on the size you need? This design has been a best seller. I am restocking soon.....and introducing some designs on v-neck tees.
What's your excuse for not ditching the dye? If you're on the fence and still coloring your hair, spill the beans girl!
Yay Kelli! 💕
I need your strength! My friends are all asking me why I want to look like a granny? :-(
Hi y'all, I am 32 years old and I HAVE GRAY HAIR!
I bet your silver is BEAUTIFUL mixed with you red hair!! I’m kinda jealous 💕
So wonderful to hear all the positives! Thanks for sharing!
I'm a hairstylist I've been wanting to go grey for a few years. What better time than now!
Yes Gwen!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
2019 was my year to go gray. I'm all silver now and I have no regrets. 63 years old and a silver fox!
Yay!!!!
Congratulations!!!!... you go girl!!!!👏👏👏👏👏
Yes....you get it girl!!! It's YOUR journey...that's what makes it so wonderful!
Linda Marocco Thank you 🙏
1 yr & 9 months of no dye and I’m ridiculously happy with my grey goddess hair! 🙌🏻 My hair has never been softer and more beautiful. Not everybody gets it but that’s ok. I’d rather be my authentic natural self than please others. Go for it ladies!! And your curly greys are gorgeous girl!!
Thanks Julie!!! Big hugs to your authentic natural self!
Me neither!! I never got a compliment on the color of my dyed hair. Only when I went grey did the compliments start. Thanks for watching Phyllis💗
That is fantastic to hear!!! 🤗🤗
Love it Brenda!!
I mean worn out 😂
Well...:my mom hates my grey hair too. To each her own I guess 😳
I am excited FOR YOU!!!! Can’t wait to hear more as it’s coming in 💗
I am a natural dirty gingery blonde, fixing to be 57 shortly, and in the last couple of years my hair has been gradually turning more and more mousy brown.
I decided to give myself a birthday gift of no more dye for my 64th birthday. Last dye day, 1-11-2020. Just starting on my journey, but I’m so happy.
Yay!!! You go Debra! That is a wonderful gift to yourself 💕
I turned 64 on 1/3/20! I started my grey journey in September of 2019. Seven months in and I just keep getting compliments.
That is wonderful Karen!!!!❤️❤️
@@WelcomeToMyCurls I will!
LOVE it!! Thanks for sharing!💕
I cannot wait till I get more 🖤🤍🖤
Love it!! You go girl!
I just found your vidios. I love, love, love your gray hair. I ditched the dye two years ago. I get more compliments than ever. Ladies asked how I did it. I just stopped
Men tell me they like my gray and tell me my hair looks great.
Hi Linda! Welcome!!! So glad to hear you are enjoying your decision to go grey Me too girl! 💕
I stopped dying my hair over 3 years ago. I love it. Life it good🤗 🌞
The excuse I always hear is well I would do it if I knew mine was going to look like yours.
Amen Dawn!!! They have no way of knowing but they think they know. Such an over-used excuse!😆
I was lucky enough to have never started dying my hair. I do straighten it though. Every 4 days I wash it and style. I’m aging gray-cfully.
You are giving me the confidence that have needed to start the grey! I have wanted to do this for over 3 years but I am doing this!!!
That’s fantastic Marilyn!! You can do it💕
I can honestly say its the best feeling in the world, not to have to worry about coloring my hair anymore.
Having a supportive hair stylist is so important!!
YES IT IS!!!! Super duper top of the list!
Yay Terry!!!!! I like your description of me.....bouncy personality! LOVE IT!
Your hair looks so healthy!!!... beautiful!... still watching!😂😂😂
Glad to hear you did what was best for you. Grey isn’t for everyone....or at least every moment. Best wishes!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls I reside in Pawtucket Rhode Island :)
Hi Kristi! Welcome!
Yay!!!! So glad to hear you are gonna go for it!!! 😍😍
@@WelcomeToMyCurls 😙👍
Good for you! Glad to know you stood up for yourself and changed hairdressers 💕
I love your channel. Your hair, skin and makeup are just gorgeous. Your natural color is so pretty and those gorgeous curls are the best!!
I agree with you gray hair speaks we are not fooling anybody 😉
I think your hair looks fabulous! None of the excuses you listed is a problem for me except the work-related one. I have at least another 10 years to go until I retire and I hate my current job. I'm looking for another job so ageism does concern me but can't wait until I don't have to worry about that and go grey. I stopped straightening my hair over 10 years ago and started wearing my naturally curly hair out so everything in due time.
So you plan to wait until retirement to go grey?
@@WelcomeToMyCurls If I find a job that I like and plan to stay then once I have that job, I will go grey but while I'm still looking I won't go grey.
Yes girl do what you feel good for you and only you
What a wonderful video.
Thanks for watching Julie! I too like being unique. Makes life interesting :)
Just started watching, but, want to say... you are looking awesome today, Girl!!!... hair, makeup everything!!!!
Oh hey Linda!!! Thanks! You should see me now....I'm a hot mess! LOL. It's a beautiful sunny day here...and since I'm stuck at home....I've been working in the yard. I love being barefoot in the grass and sweaty!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS enjoy!!!!
I am number 1 too!... wow, I have almost all these excuses!... thank you Renee!... this was an awesome video!... much love and appreciation!!!.. you rock!💜💜💜💜💜
Linda....you are CRACKING ME UP! Sounds like you've used every excuse in the book!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS yes!!!!... Hahahaha
I think.
Me too!! I think I would have been in shock. Glad I did it gradually ❤️
💕
Amen! Ditch the non-supportive hair dresser.
You are such a great lady, Renee!
Hilarious...My mother hates my gray hair also. She's 70 with brownish dyed colored hair.
💗
I’m sure there are some....but not many. That just means none of us regretted going grey 😊
No 4 too!
I'm scare to go gray, I'm old already don't want to add to it, gray would make me look even more older.
So far watching, I use 10,9,8 for excuses!!!!
On the fence, here!!!!!
Oh Linda......will ya just do it already!! LOL
WELCOME TO MY CURLS lmaooooooo
A good friend of mine keeps trying to ditch the dye, and just when her hair starts to really show the silvers, she freaks out and dyes it again, because she says it makes her look like her mother! She and her mother don't get along so I guess I can understand? Still though.
LOL. She is torturing herself! 😳
@@WelcomeToMyCurls I know, right? 😂 I'll keep trying to win her over to our side 👍
In the Bible, there's a scripture that refers to gray hair as a crown of glory. Love that and your sundae hair!
Perfect...and I love my sundae hair too 🤗
I love your hair & the curls!
I had to quit I have been dying my hair since 13. I lost all my hair it is growing in.
Oh gosh Margo! Luckily it's growing back....and hopefully they grey is beautiful!
re: workplace comments/disadvantages: Pick a classic style that works for you hair type. Also, step up your skincare routine and learn to up your makeup game. I don´t think I ever received a negative comment - or I just don´t remember them :)
Completely agree!
I have a grey beard, what am I doing here?
Number 6 too!..😂😂😂😂
Can you make a video about easy hair stylies for a wedding please
Ooooo Gabriela.....I'm probably not the best person for that. I only know how to use a headband, barrette, or ponytail. I have very limited ability when it comes to styles. I'm sorry!! But thank you for watching my videos and making a suggestion! I truly appreciate it :)
☺️thank you anyways
What about the frizzy, kinky look of the newly immerging white or grey hair, especially near the lower face and ear area? This is why I am concerned while I am growing out the dyed portion of my hair. Anyone got the advice to white frizzies. My normal hair is not frizzy or curly, just a little wavy. How do I smooth out the white?
I love your beautiful hair ❤️❤️
Thank you so much 😀
Anyone that doesn't have anything better to do than worry about another person's hair color needs a life.
🙌🏻
The only reason to dye your hair other than because you want to is if your livelihood really depends on it, which is an unfortunate a reality for a lot of women in a society that rewards and punishes women for their age and appearance. And most women don't have the privilege of picking and choosing among employers who won't discriminate against them for having grey hair.
Love the tee!!!!!
I have gray hair.
Yes yes yes!! You don’t know until you give it a go!😳
I would just let my hair go grey without making any comments. You can figure it out....
I prefer my hair color and will probably never stop dying my greys. I make no excuses for it....makes me feel older than I truly am....BUT due to the current situation, let's see what will happen with my greys TBD
TBD....that is true. If you can't get to a salon, will you try to color it yourself? Just wondering....
No. I'll wait it our for sure! maybe, just maybe I'll be ok with the grey...but I don't think so...@@WelcomeToMyCurls
You're my new best friend
My excuse is I don't have a husband yet, and who is going to find me attractive with salt and pepper hair at 34? Society's standard of beauty scares me.
Most men are starting to show some grey in their 30's too. If someone loves you for you....then he will appreciate and support YOU BEING YOU. Just my thoughts :)
@@WelcomeToMyCurls thank you so much
