I have been many times (live in Austin) and you nailed it right on the head. Very informative for first timers. The wave is VERY different than a natural wave and takes a little getting used to. Don’t get frustrated. Nobody goes out and rips the first session. Typically, it takes at least a few sets to get comfortable catching the waves. Then, at least two sessions to get the pattern of the waves in each set. Booking more than one session is paramount. You WILL be happy you did. Other than that, STRETCH between sets and stay hydrated. It can be a great, fun wave in the middle of nowhere Texas. Enjoy!
Thank you so much!! 100% agree that it takes some getting used to and booking a few sessions is the way to go! I couldn't believe how much easier it felt just two sessions in. Guess I'll have to come back for a third 🤙
Hi Richard, I know this is heavily dependent upon fitness level, but what's the max sessions in one day you'd suggest? Three? Could you do four if they were spaced out?
@@artichokeantigua Great question. It's all going to depend on your leg stamina. I went this past June and stayed on property for three nights. Surfed 9 expert sessions. One the night of check in, 3 the next day, four the day after that and one the following morning before check out. I'm in my mid forties and trained heavily for the trip. Lots of core training and leg work. I was fine until the last session on the day with 4 sessions. My legs felt like jelly walking out into the pool. I was still able to surf (surprisingly) and actually had a fun session. The next morning was fine and no issues at all. That being said, I know my limit is three in a day before extreme fatigue comes in. Surfing multiple days also didn't help with the fatigue. 3 was good, 4 was pushing it for me but, again, depends on your personal fitness level. Two would be the minimum I would recommend just because of the learning curve. Takes a few sets to get dialed in but once you get it, you've got it. By the end of your second session you'll only be taking two strokes before dropping in. All about being in exactly the right position. Hope that helps.
I'm glad it was helpful! I checked my records and I paid something like $120/session. I think they give you the price if you go to book and choose a specific date; it changes depending on shoulder season vs summer (spring is cheaper but bring a wetsuit!). Also, if you have a big enough group, it may make sense to book a private session. They didn't have that little air section in the public session, they must use a different setting on the wave machine.
This is the public "expert" surf session. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't have the air section at the end - my guess is they only do that in the private sessions
It's hard to understand because of the way you speak. It's valuable information and I appreciate you making this video but you start your sentences loud and quick and end them with not much volume

Appreciate the insight. Going there in May. Looking forward to it.

Great video, really informative. Hope to get to surf there one day with you !
Woohooooo
Thank you for making this video...I'm taking about going next spring with friends. I cannot find prices on their site.
I'm glad it was helpful!

She's the real star here, let's face it 👀
What session was this that you purchased? Was it the expert, intermediate or beginners???? What wave was this called that you were riding on??

Great vid- didn't understand much of what you said- (too much compression in the vocals), but great video quality
Thanks!!! Yeah, my mic was acting up pretty bad for this one, I tried to fix it in post but it was beyond salvaging 😅 glad you still liked it, though!

Thank you for the feedback! I've noticed a lot of people can't understand me in this video. I think the microphone also didn't help!
Audio is so bad
