I have the same guitar, and I changed this bridge last year, I really liked it. I had to have the hole in the floating bridge made bigger by a luthier, everything turned out well.
Gotoh makes very high quality Floyd Rose bridges. BUT, you HAVE to see the description before you order one. 40mm block is just ridiculously very LONG. I'm going to have to cut out a huge chunk of the block to fit into the guitar I'm building which will be 45mm thick. I honestly can't imagine a 2 inch thick guitar... Seriously!
Have a solution for both of you : www.philadelphialuthiertools.com/bridge-and-tailpieces/tremolos/tremolo-parts/gotoh-ge1996t-tremolo-block-bell-brass/
I have two pacifica, I'd like buying a rgx, but I am still waiting because I am scared about the floyd, I don't know the specs of yamaha floyd for replacement.. What kind of floyd is good for replacement?
Gotoh ge1996t or people have even dropped in ibanez or any licenced floyd trem. The issues is block clearance and trem clearance which i have touched on here.
Where are you based? I have had two of these trems installed in Schecters by Steve at Holden Hill Music here in Adelaide. With the posts. One of them had an odd shaped licensed trem like yours and he did dome routing of the top and then painted the cavity black. If you are in Mitchell Park SA I actually drive further to see him (I'm in McLaren Vale) but it's worth it. I only use two springs, otherwise the Tremol-No claw I fitted doesn't work.
@@yamahargxtt i don't know what year of the model, because it is my uncle guitar but the original tremolo is rusty. So i want to change them with gotoh 1996t but can it apply to rgx 312?? Sorry for my bad english
@@tristanrajendraais your yamaha a 1980s model with a, 24 3 quarter scale length with 24 frets or the later rgxs with the fender scale length I have a Yamaha rgx 110 from 1987 or 1988 and that was to replace my original mine is the made in Taiwan versions which are very rare where the fretboard is flush on the neck and has no fretboard overlap. Also does your guitar have yhezsyck fender strat like trem like mine or is already routed for a floyd. If not you need to have it routed for a floyd then you can install and use a, gotoh 1996 t trem I know you posted three years, ago but if you are still stuck hope it helps.

Made In Taiwan yamahas, are the best better than the japanese ones especially the early old school yamahas from the 1980s like mine. Such a unique fretboard like my yamaha rgx 110 and mine is very rare. Basswood body mahagony neck bubinga fretboard not rosewood but looks like rosewood 24 fret Gibson less Paul scale length with fretboard flush with the neck and no fretboard overlap and traditional fender 4 bolt strat pattern not like the Japanese ones at all. Stock fender style trem but can be modified to fit a floyd but I am not touching this one since it replaced my original from when I was a kid in the 1980s before I stubidly ruined the neck. That body I did modify a lot. But now that I know what I am doing I will just build my own and copy this one as I know exactly what mine is made of. Then I will put a gotah in the copy.

I’m trying to order one for my Yamaha but the brass blocks sizes are 40mm, 36mm and 33mm. Which one do you have?
My Jackson says 32mm on the block so I ordered mine with a 33mm. Just measure depth of the block if no markings.
I have 38mm too big!

Would it be possible to use the ORF studs instead of the gotoh to prevent drilling?
These studs for the OFR are 10.5mm so same width as GOTOH anyway

Had mine done at Lauda guitars properly with the posts. Will post an update
Which one did you use? The 33mm, 36mm or 40mm size block?
38mm but its too long 33 is probably best
Is the Original Floyd Rose a direct replacement for the TRS PRO trem found on these guitars?
Only if the string spacing is correct 53mm
Are those Dimarzio CrunchLab humbucker?
Crunchlab Bridge than a Steve Morse in the neck
Excuse me do you know where I can buy it? I'm in the Us Florida thanks
Ge1996t on reverb and all good parts stores
Amazon
plan on selling the original bridge?
Never came with it but you can actually still order the rm pro3 through yamaha spares which is identical to the original with better block and saddles
I have yamaha rgx 312 can it use gotoh GE-1996T??
Is that the 80s model?
