    Hey, very cool video.
    I also live fulltime in an airstream on a horse farm in Connecticut. My airstream is a 2018 flying cloud 28rbq.
    It has worked just fine. I do some of the same fixes. Tickled to see your video

    As always, a great video! I cannot believe you weathered those extreme temperatures pretty much unscathed. I have only been in that kind of cold once in my life, and it was a great experience, but one I would prefer not to repeat😂 Hopefully the rest of the winter isn’t as cold.

    One thing I will say we have lived in our airstream this particular one for over eight years winter summer, etc., and you have to realize that your furnace does a lot more than just heat your living space, it heats the tanks down underneath and your plumbing as well and something else that you may or may not have thought about, but it also produces Dry heat, which intern keeps all of your windows from condensating on the inside and all the metal latches from rusting up….. I have sympathy with the allergies because I suffer with allergies as well but once I figured out that the furnace does so much more than just to keep my wife and I warm in the winter. I make sure that it’s working at its peak efficiency and I also when the temperatures really drop I have to use a small electric heater in the bathroom just to keep plumbing thawed out in there for some reason. Again, if you were having ice buildup on the inside of those windows, you’re not using your furnace enough just an FYI.

    Automotive grade wool is going to work best anywhere and everywhere and a diesel heater. Well maybe not the Diesel heater it might create moisture, but its fine to use diesel heater under your bed just put a bucket of (Camp Dry). I've camped on the coast of Maine during the winter and you have to remember a mist rain shower of moisture is constantly happening inside your walls (dew). Make sure a drain plug for your walls stays clear to drain.
    Use electric blankets above and underneath you.

    froli system is the best system to deal with condensation under the mattress

      Hahahah! 🤣🤣🤣 You crack me up! I used to be a wedding planner so I’m used to silliness. Takes a lot to phase me!
      It’s honestly the acoustics inside plus o had tons of snow on the roof so I’m sure that didn’t help!

    First off, you're crazy RVing in that temperature!!! As for your tanks freezing, you may be helping them freeze by using the space heaters. Airstream heats the tank area in the underbelly by blowing heat into that area from the furnace. The thermostat for your furnace is in the living space of the trailer and since you're using the space heaters to heat the living space, I'm betting the furnace is not running enough to keep heat on those tanks. No heat on the tanks and they freeze. To be honest though at -56 it's not going to matter, I can't imagine anything not freezing at that temperature. Stay safe out there!

    • @discoverrescue
      @discoverrescue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Vet good point about the tanks freezing without the furnace but for that storm, I definitely had it running non stop and still frozen but like you said, nothing will survive -56!! The frost free spigot I have which is wrapped in heating take and double insulate and covered by a box and it still froze! My eye balls froze!
      It was an adventure for sure but as I usually do, I took it with a huge smile as to not cry instead 🤪🤪 and I survived!!!!

      @@discoverrescue Yhea, -56 is a no win situation. The coldest I have ever been in was -22 in Colorado one year. I remember stepping outside in the morning, breathing in through my nose and feeling the inside of my sinuses start to crystalize!!! I immediately noped out and went back into the ski rental for an Irish Coffee!

      I can imagine! Irish coffee sounds fantastic! Will make sure to have everything on hand to make one next time one of these comes around!

    Hey Danielle, have you ever had mice in the AS especially with the straw bales?

    • @discoverrescue
      @discoverrescue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had mice in the AS but even without the bales and honestly have not had any since the bales. My first mice was when I was back home, I live pretty remotely and in the woods so unavoidable honestly. I just use humane traps to catch them and relocate. And they always go in the same way and hang out in the same spot so I notice right away when I have one and usually have them caught the next day. It’s important to get them out fast before they eat any insulation

  • @EvenaGirlCanDoIt
    @EvenaGirlCanDoIt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh also have you tried using pipe insulation over your heated hose to keep it from freezing when in extreme cold?

    • @discoverrescue
      @discoverrescue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not on the heated hose itself, will definitely keep that in mind next time we plan to dip so low!!! Hope we don’t have a next time but that’s wishful thinking 😉🤣😉🤣

      If you enjoyed that one, check this one out. It’s very airstream related but a lot of folks have said most of it applies to all RVs
