Difficult puzzle. Solved beautifully. Your style of puzzles are excellent. I am a regular follower of your videos. In the interest of promoting suduku puzzles, I suggest the viewers to see the videos of KS Rao from India. His videos also equally impressive, interesting and excellent, though his style of solving is entirely different from suduku Guy. Also KS Raos two suduku books are excellent, educative and interesting. I love and like both Suduku Guy and KS Rao very much and pray almighty to keep good health and long life for both of them.I am also confident of solving difficult suduku puzzles combining both of their tricks.
Thank you CS Viswanathan Iyer for the suggestion. I just viewed KS Rao's videos on solving sudoku and found it incredible how differently he solves them. Very interesting and I might watch more once I have exhausted all Robin's techniques... currently going through them for the second time!

Hi Sudoku Guy: thx for another puzzle. But I miss your BIG board and your handwritten explanation with the RAMIFICATIONS! The computer version clears out the numbers way toooo fast! Hope you bring back the BIG board version!
Working on it! I am patiently waiting for my famous board to arrive from Canada. Due to covid and lack of containers and now a lack of drivers willing to go to different states, the shipment has taken about 6 months to reach me. I assure you that as soon as it arrives I will be back to the white board.

Thank you! Cheers! Tacio it was quite a challenge and there were several routes which could have been taken, however I wanted to show the power of locked little numbers..
Great puzzle! If you spot the 13 pair in R7 (at R7C2 and R7C8) and the 1289 quad in C8 then the 3 in C8 has to be in R7C8 and therefore 6 in R6C8. There is still some work to do but nothing too hard - and no need to fill in all the cells!
Well done Ross. congratulations This was meant to be a demonstration. Yes I know about the other tricks but I wanted to show and revise other techniques.
At 21:20 after you eliminated the extra 5's because of the 5-8 matching pair, I was expecting you to do the same with the 8's. It was neat how you showed another way of getting rid of them.
Yes you are right. I knew there was a hidden matching pair there but decided to use other paths in order to teach different techniques. congratulations on noticing 5,6.
This is a tough puzzle that needs a process of elimination, I try to avoid filling the whole grid therefore I look for the dominant numbers, in this case it is the inter-connectivity of the 3-6's so I concentrated on the rows with these numbers in and discovered the same matching pairs our learned tutor found and it got me started. I really enjoyed this puzzle and watching the video
Wow just wow. I started playing this one and managed to find some pencil numbers using snider notation but then I was like “what next”. Watched the video up until the 5 minute mark and notes that you found all the little numbers and was working from there. This approach never crosses my mind as I always considered it bad practice, but as you rightly demonstrate it does show those restrictions which allows you to get going. So it’s one I’ll now add to my arsenal. Great work as always with this Robin, I really love it when I learn new tricks from you. Just out of curiosity, did you ever get round to doing this one on the board / on paper. I’m intrigued as to how you would approach it (as you mentioned at the top of the video, the approach I guess would be completely different)
No I didn't do it on the board because the board was somewhere in the Pacific Ocean on a ship. I needed to keep uploading videos so I went this way , I am now back to doing it on the board. The board has finally arrived. Have a look at the last couple of videos tutorial 87 and 88 Robin

Interesting puzzle. With the rating given , I was fully expecting some advanced techniques would be necessary - yet there never were any! I was looking for finned x-wings or swordfish, unique rectangles, y-wings or more advanced wings, x or xy-chains and never found any. I do all mine by paper and pencil (to me, the computer is cheating) and I've never filled in so many small numbers before! I've been working my way through Frank Longos' hardest books and never seen one quite like this. It's cool that it is solvable by folks who may not know advanced methods.
Yes you are right. No real advanced techniques were needed, however know locked little numbers is the technique i wanted to show. thanks for sharing mathguy1.
I could solve this puzzle with pencils, erasers and papers after getting a hint only of a locked number#9 in Block 7.Otherwise, I refrained myself from looking into the video before I solved it. I studied your video thereafter intensively to learn and edify my 75 years old mind once again.

Robin - another educational and entertaining video - thank you. Can you tell me the name of the software you used - I would like to purchase this version. Thanks stuart
I found quads and a pair in column 8, which restricted the 1s in box 9, giving the 1 in box 7, then the 3s in boxes 7, 9, 1 and 2, the 6s in box 6, 1 and 2, leaving a 9, 1 pair in box 3, forcing the 2s in boxes 3 and 6, thus resolving the 9,1 pair, giving the 1 in box 9 and the rest of boxes 3 and 1.
Glad to hear that. I have just updated my website. When you go to my website. (sudokuguy.com) scroll down to "index of techniques, procedures and tricks" Click on the red rectangle and you will find the link below the screen. Hi Robin, thanks for your video. But as usual ;-) I always have the same remark. Please don't fill all the cells! There is no point and it's not funny. What's funny is to discover the intended path from the constructor. I know you always answer that you wanted to show other tricks. But to fill all cells is not a trick. For me, here the trick is to observe the grid and indeed, not a lot of corner marks or cell to fill following 1 digit. The "trick" or the next step is to search with 2 digits, and not 1 anymore. There is a square with corner 36 (C1 and C5) and box3 with 36. Conclusion: only 2 places for 36 in row 2. Same with 13 (C1 and C9 + box 8) and only 2 places for 13 in row 7. With those 4 pencil marks, only 1 place for the 6 in C8 which gives the 3 in C8, then the 1 in row 7 .... and soon the grid is finish! At this level what we expect from you is to show us more clever reasoning instead of just filling all the cells. It's a crime of lese majesty in such a beautiful designed grid! All the best.
Hey Robin - I know you are a paper and board guy. Are you getting used to solving using this app (I believe you said Jason Linhart has it on his site)?
21:56... I was wondering why you got rid of that 8 when it was already a 5/8 matching pair? Shouldn't it have been the 8 in Row 8 Column 9 that was removed? But then I realized that, even if you did it that way, that 8 in that box would've still been removed anyway. Funny how that worked out. 😆

Thanks Bob for your comment. Yes I usually do ask what are the ramifications. Sometimes I say "now what does this do?' This time I didn't do it enough and thanks for pointing this out.
This is aimed at learners. You are obviously very experienced. What is easy for some players while for other players it is difficult. So much depends on your knowledge of what to look for. Thanks for your observation.
@@SudokuGuy I do really appreciate your videos and learn a lot. Probably using a computer makes it easy to miss the obvious which you would not do using your board. Please do not take my comment the wrong way because I do enjoy your videos and really appreciate your advice.
Even with using his famous Sudoku white board and not a computer, Robin is very thorough and takes us step by step, never rushing us through. This is not a fast lane, but an absorbing and relaxed venture, more suited for climbing solvers. Way to go, Robin!

Have a look at the last couple of videos tutorial 87 and 88 Robin
just what I needed to know....those little numbers.thanks

Which program/app did you use for the computer?
Read below. to find out. "Enjoy sudoku" by jason linhart. Scroll down to find the heart version. You will find it in the app store.
@@SudokuGuy thx very much. Found the app and took the paid version of it. And thank you for the nice explaination of the nice puzzles.
I could solve this puzzle with pencils, erasers and papers after getting a hint only of a locked number#9 in Block 7.Otherwise, I refrained myself from looking into the video before I solved it. I studied your video thereafter intensively to learn and edify my 75 years old mind once again.

Thanks for sharing. Great work. I look for locked little numbers first, does that matter?
Not at all. Thanks for watching. Robin
How to get the sudoku software you use to perform your solving? Thanks!
The app store ...go to sudoku apps then look for "enjoy sudoku" (heart version). Look also at the instruction/description under the video where it says SHOW MORE.
"Hi Robin", I'm kind of new to sudoku and maybe I'm missing something, but at the beginning I thought the 13 was a matching pair in row 7. I didn't do the puzzle but doing this might still come up with same result. Were those 1-3 pairs wrong? Love your videos and have learned so much. " Thank you".
No they were not wrong. Master the easy puzzles first using my step by step method. Thanks for your support, and please tell others about my site. It is free! Robin
what program are you using
You can go to the description under the video to get the information. Jerry. All the best.

Robin - another educational and entertaining video - thank you. Can you tell me the name of the software you used - I would like to purchase this version. Thanks stuart
In the description under the video. Click below the video on SHOW MORE to find the description.
Before you found those digits, you will notice in the beginning that there is a matching pair along row 7, that is #s 1&3 at column 2 and column 8.
Yes I also spotted them, however I chose a different path to take to show another trick. Robin.
Congratulations Julian for noticing other ways to solve which I expected.
thanks bro I learnt a lot

Great comment!!! 👏👏👏 Was way more instructive than the video itself. 👍
Thanks for your comment. You are experienced and I am teaching learners. There are many ways to cook and egg! Robin
Yes thanks.
Quite DIABOLICAL!
Thank you Mia for your support.
Hey Robin - I know you are a paper and board guy. Are you getting used to solving using this app (I believe you said Jason Linhart has it on his site)?
Yes I will have my famous white board in approx one week. It has take over 7 months to come from Canada. I find Jason's app very good.

Is there a free software similar to 'enjoy sudoku' which is free ?
Yes but be prepared for lots of advs. If you want something good without adv go to "enjoy sudoku and be willing to pay a little. Robin
@@SudokuGuy I have a Sudoku app on my iPad that pops up ads all the time, so I turn off the wifi and I can still play the game with no ads.
Very nice and easy to understand! What is the name of this software or APP? How can we get it? Thank you!
In the description
Whenever you "make a big number," I notice you don't ask, "what are the ramifications?" Is that no longer needed with a computerized puzzle?
Thanks Bob for your comment. Yes I usually do ask what are the ramifications. Sometimes I say "now what does this do?' This time I didn't do it enough and thanks for pointing this out.
Not diabolic at all
This is aimed at learners. You are obviously very experienced. What is easy for some players while for other players it is difficult. So much depends on your knowledge of what to look for. Thanks for your observation.
Traduction en francais, cest pour quand?
Sorry don't understand. I used translation but it didn't help.
Hidden pair on R2, 36, pops out
Yes it does.
👍👌🇨🇦❤
Thanks pocket change. Love that name. Here is the latest video. th-cam.com/video/4esodzF6Pcs/w-d-xo.html
Unfortunately, probably because you are using a computer, you are too slow. It is very frustrating to those of us who are experienced solvers
Interesting comment as I have many others who appreciate me going slow. You are experienced. Thanks for your comment David.
