Would definitely like to see a video on how to connect a server (NAS) to this so multiple devices can access the project files.

    Still Works for Ver. 18.
The Firewall Part is VERY IMPORTANT.
I was looking for the proper solution everywhere, and this is the correct solution.
(Without disabling the Firewall entirely, which is a bad idea.)
Too bad Windows doesn't handle firewall rules that well on its own.

I know it's a late reply (have been so busy switching jobs etc) BUT I can confirm that I'm working on a new Mini-series that covers all of this AND installing on a Linux server instead (no need to use Windows :D)... In addition to that, the mini-series will cover setting up a VPN to enable remote access (as this is required for the "collaboartion features" to work flawlessly over a public network) - Stay tuned for more upcoming content!

Cannot Connect to Network Project Library.
Please check for correct credentials and if the
server is online and allows client connections.

Good day, I am installing on an HPE VM and I can get the project server installed and build out the databases but as soon as I try to authorize network connections it breaks the Davinci Resolve Project Server app entirely. My user list is erased, no settings stay enabled and upon restarting the program I am prompted with _"the PostgresSQL server is either not running or the password is incorrect"_ despite it running in the Windows Services App. I have admin privileges, and running it as Admin or not makes no difference.
Forums are useless - any ideas?

I do most of my editing on my PC, but I recently just got my first MacBook. I know that I can export projects to move them from one computer to another, but would setting up a server like this for myself make switching between computers more seamless? Would I be able to access my projects from both computers easily without having to export my project? Or is that not what this is used for? I'm not that tech savvy.

    Hey very nice video!
I am using a Synology NAS and running Synology Drive on all my devices to synchronize my files and data.
Could I just create the database and save the project file on the Drive folder and use it simultaneously on my devices for colaboration?
Or should I create a VM (windows) with the NAS and following your steps installing davinci resolve project server and using PostgreSQL?
Right now I dont understand the use of the PostgreSQL

    • @TheBearTech
      @TheBearTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey @Norian, I've published a new video this evening about installing and running the Project Server on Linux (you could run it inside a Linux VM and use less resources) so maybe this might be of interest too? th-cam.com/video/4tDkecNYL_Q/w-d-xo.html
The PostgresSQL database is used to store the project metadata (eg. all the cut points, VFX info, colour grading settings etc). Your video files, as you mentioned should still live on your NAS in a shared folder... the project server simply stores the Project metadata (not the media files).
Without a Project Server you cannot enable the "Collaboration" features and so, you should use a project server instead of storing the project file on a NAS drive (unless of course you don't care for the collaboration features).
Personally, I would now create a Linux VM and follow my latest video tutorial (linked above)
      Hope this helps!

@@TheBearTech🤩✊ thanks a lot, highly appreciate that! I will give that a try the next days. There's one little detail that I got stuck on for much longer than I should have (until I finally read the instructions from BM). If you are on more than one network, you need to tell Resolve Project Server which network IP address you want to use, by clicking the file menu at the top. Also, if you do what I did and set it up with the wrong network first, you will need to unshare the database, re-enable sharing of the database and create a new access key.
