Roland LEF printers make me super excited, then I watch this videos to see how complicated and so very unnecessary to do all kind of extremely frustrating material setup process and all my enthusiasm died down again...
Roland doesn’t understand something, many of us are in retail and dealing with many impatient customers and some of us even set up in the mall and dealing with customers rushing us and expecting things get printed in 30 minutes or less...we cannot have a printer like this takes so long time to set up media, can’t you not just fix this process and make it simple process please? It would benefit us and you more in the long run.
Roland, it has been years and years passed many potential customers like me and many many other customers so many times asked Roland to get rid of this super complicated and long process to set up media and stuff but our pleas gone to deaf ears, when are you going to listen us and make this one or two button set up process? Do we have to constanly ask you this repeatedly? Why Roland is like this? So disappointed.
Hi David.
Thanks for the message. Whilst there are the 3 steps needed to set up the LEF printers (object height, start position & end position), the newer LEF2 printers actually have a shorter set up sequence & 40 pre-set options. This enables users to set up objects once and then save all the required settings for future use, which enables very quick changing from one item to another.
Many users then also combine the pre-sets with a jig of some description which means the user simply loads the pre-set, positions the jig & pops in the object. You can also disable the setup option...making it super quick & easy for repeat work.
We have also just launched our cotodesign software which goes a step further & helps to make the artwork set-up simple.
All of this added together is making the LEF printers more retail-friendly to enable quick production of a range of objects without a lengthy learning curve.
Where are you based, would you like to come & see the whole solution in action to get a feel for how easy it is?
Roland DG UK thank you for your explanation, I really appreciate it. I was not aware of the new LEF2 printers are easier to set up but still have to do 3 steps set up configuration though, what we would like to see is a set up with putting material inside the machine where the print area and click set up button and machine auto detects all height width and lenght and whatever else. Don’t think asking too much.
For mass production of course that preset memorizing settings is for sure great feature and time saving I can guess, but if a customer brings something random object for printing still gotta do those confusing steps, hope one day Roland makes this super simple like I explained above.
Also I really appreciate you offering me to come check out but I am in USA and I find it easier to ask and get answers at professionals in UK, Roland here in USA seem more care about just selling items than listening customers like me. So I thank RolandUK for help. I will wait a bit and when if they fix that set up complications will buy that machine same day.
