Yo historical reference for the tanks is basically like naming the tanks the Chinese able to get hands on. Type 35 is basically Pz2 or T-26 and Type 36 is M3stuart. The Chinese did have a Sherman but most of them were returned to Usa during the civilwar and later brought back after KMT defeat
the "picked" divisions getting specific equipment isn't out of order for the simple fact that when a new equipment is added to the army, countries generally don't have enough to equip the whole army at once, (for example, the french army never had enough AT guns to outfit all units that were supposed to get them, so a lot of reservist and mountain regiments were still rocking the venerable 37 TR 16 infantry gun in their "anti tank" companies) so you have to select which units get what equipment, tho of course it is generally done the way of creating a "new" ToE and equipping units as equipment comes online, but since china wasn't building much of that equipment at home, any numbers were limited
Thanks! I try to make them funny so they’re not just filler ads, plus the game was fun! Trying to be ethical and only do sponsorships for things I support and like!

25:00 As another comment pointed out, Deep Battle is supposed to represent the historical Soviet doctrine, where the Mass Mobilization side is *supposed* to represent China although as you noted that wasn't really what China did. It's a historiographical failing of HOI4 along with the new German focus tree. For China's situation in HOI4 though, and doubly so for what you're doing, the Mass Assault side is quite good as it allows you to cram an incredible number of infantry brigades into each battle if you can manage to produce enough infantry equipment and fully utilize the combat width.

The area defence works only until something lands somewhere -- then all the divisions move to counter-attack, leaving ports open. So you pretty much have to micromanage port garrisons. Remember that Paradox loves you.
the reason divs on defense abandon ports is because they are moving to attack the landed units, defense orders make divs auto attack units in their zone even if that means leaving the things you told them to defend completely open use fallback lines instead, with a handful of divs around each port instead, you'll have far less stress this way, but it's a pain to setup and micro
Railways are only for connecting supply hubs and ports, which can also be connected by rivers. The railways don’t provide any supply at all on their own.
This gives me flashbacks to my disastrous 1st China game. I had all the same problems you had, from the Chinese United Front not forming properly to my divisions leaving my port to fight random naval invasions. Only my situation was way, way worst. My entire army nearly got encircled in Jinan and in my genius, I decided to blow the Yellow River dams. Which means I can't strat redeploy my divisions out of the pocket. That sealed the fate of my entire army.
If you're having trouble with supply remember to motorize your supply hubs and your army distribution logistics. It does use a lot of trucks and lose a lot of trucks if you've got bad air cover sometimes it's not worth it but most of the time the truck losses are worth it.
To add to the confusion at 17:15, the Chinese armored force was a mess of different models in 1938. Edit: Also, according to Tank Encyclopedia, the Chinese also used some Vickers Type E Light Tanks early in the war. They also had some Panzer Is in their arsenal, alongside: Renault FTs, V-C-L Light Amphibious Tanks, Renault ZBs and UEs, and some captured Japanese tanks. They never got T-34s until the 50s, when the Soviets supplied the PLA with T-34-85s Edit 2: You did end up mentioning a lot of the stuff I mentioned initially
18:00 I understand why you retreated behind the river close to Beijing, but you really should hold Beijing because that state has like 6 factories, which is 15% of your entire industry at that time.
Do not use garrison order. Use fall back line. Make manually a one tile fall back line order for 2 or how many you need divisions per port. That's times more efficient than doing garrison.
I just about finished my Communist China run successfully until this video popped up! Hopefully we will see Qing and National China acheivement guides, lol
25:20 No Aldra, Mass Mobilization isn't for the Soviets, its for Maos' China, the Soviets had used and developed Deep Battle doctrine, which is basically a Soviet combined arms strategy, with similiar vein to German "Bewegungskrieg" or the well known name of "Blitzkrieg", or simply, mobile warfare.
The Chiang Chinese doctrine would probably be Infiltration (Grand Battle Plan) as they did the exact same thing the Japanese did (hence why they later lost to Commie China)
Game doesn’t really portray mass mobilization. It should be that random tiles the enemy occupies can suddenly become unoccupied. It’s what Mao did irl, the Japanese could only control what they directly garrisoned. It was also quite funny that Mao would kidnap collaborator commanders and their families into a cave for “reeducation” then when they come out they become loyal patriotic communists. There was this one story that when a CCP inspector came to a village to inspect the guerrillas he was told to enter through the front gate where the entire collaborator garrison stood in line to welcome him.😂😂😂
There are reasons why I normally use 3 tile fallback lines on harbours (and tiles next to them) instead of garrison orders, putting 3-4 divs on each... Cuts down on garrison AI doing stupid moves
This is why when I played China I just conquered all the warlords before the war started. The focus tree sucks because I was unable to repeal the unequal treaty since I was at war with basically everyone else. Why couldn't I then bypass it? Why would China keep respecting the treaty when we're at war with everyone? Paradox really needs to review most major's focus trees.
Bro you should play the eight years war of resistance mod. Its so much harder and more complicated. It's worth giving a try. Edit:Looks like someone mentioned it first. But still we both think you should play eyewor
Deep Battle is meant to be the Soviet doctrine since that was the actual name of Soviet doctrine, it's just that the Soviet Union developed Deep Battle in the 30s.
Alongside the Panzer 1's arned with nachineguns in a 1 man turret You should have designed a tank based off thr Vickers Armstrong Better known as the Vickers 6 ton 1 man turret, light howitzer It can also have an extra gun added to it in tbe form of the Heavy machine gun And The Soviets gave there own variant of it, The T-26, to the Chinese A 6-Ton with some minor improvements But most importantly A 2 man turret AND A GOOD ENOUGH GUN, the 45mm Anti tank gun
Ah yes, I remember playing China for the first time and looking at the focus tree, thinking: "Oh, here I can form the Chinese united front. Surely this is how to follow the historical events that the AI always goes though, right?" This has got to be the one of the most poorly thought out parts of a focus tree in the entire game ever, right up there with fascist Britain's "Move to secure the Dominions" focus.
The flood you mentioned was done to slow down the Japanese push through the Great Plains of central China. It definitely was devastating for the people there, the official number of dead caused by the flood directly and indirectly from the KMT was 380k, but some scholars said it can be upwards of 800k. But remember, this is war, it is meant to be brutal. People can only choose what they think is better at that time, and only time will tell if what they chose is correct. But anyways, if the flooding was not done, Japanese have some highly mobile motorized divisions that can quickly advance deep into central China, dealing great damage behind the Chinese lines, and can mean bad news for the "new" capital of Chongqing. If Chongqing fell, there would not be many more cities to fall back to. Which would have meant the capitulation of China. There were reasons to believe Japanese would do atrocities to citizens of China in retaliation once China capitulates. They have shown that in Nanjing, Shanghai and pretty much every city and town where Chinese actually put up good fights, killing off entire city worth of population, wiping towns off the map after beating the defenders. So I guess for the KMT back then, it's better to do the flooding. Also if China capitulates, with China and its resources, the pacific front would be a lot more complicated and hideous for the allies.
Ayyy then I did my job! And there’s no late, that’s the joy of TH-cam! You can watch them when you want! Paradoxically it helps the video more to watch and engage with it earlier, but my videos will always be here for you whenever you like :D
Another great video! The Type 34 tank is the pre-tank designer name for the made up Chinese tanks. It isn't historical. Its just a generic suggested template.
I think Chiang would have actually chosen to give concessions to Japan early on in order to finish off the Communists first, though not sure if this would've been done at the Marco Polo Bridge. But he was always in favor of dealing with the Communists first.
He had no choice. In December 1936 Zhang Xiue-Liang pulled a stunt and detained Chiang when he was inspecting Zhang's progress on exterminating the Red Bandits at Xi'an. After negotiation, Chiang agreed on a truce to civil war and focusing on preparing for Japanese invasion. Both Eight Years War of Resistance mod and Chinese National Focus mod have this event, and it's a very pivotal event in both the game and in history.

Do not use garrison order. Use fall back line. Make manually a one tile fall back line order for 2 or how many you need divisions per port. That's times more efficient than doing garrison.
I think Millennium Dawn with historical presets and divisions would make a fun video
yeah china focus tree is funny, you actually have to not do united front focus tree to get the untied front
It pains me deeply
I just about finished my Communist China run successfully until this video popped up! Hopefully we will see Qing and National China acheivement guides, lol
Oh god Qing in ww1 xD
HE DID IT
Now you need to try this in Black Ice
Poland is going to be interesting when it comes to the exile divisions and the Warsaw uprising.
Yeah that’s gonna be funky xD
your mic doesn't sound like you are in another room and you edit decently, good HOI4 youtuber inbound?
Oh shit that’s a high compliment! I just use a regular blue yeti
@@Aldrahill I've been giving people a shot recently and mic quality is a common factor, also some of them are just boring. You keep it interesting man
@@tylermitchell185 thank you so much!
There was this one story that when a CCP inspector came to a village to inspect the guerrillas he was told to enter through the front gate where the entire collaborator garrison stood in line to welcome him.😂😂😂
"I can finally hit women in the workforce" is a wild statement outside of context.
For garrisons, just set it up manually. They always abandon stuff to go to the invasion.
Yup, definitely should've done that!

Oh shit, thanks dude!
In real life Japan occupied Tianjin and Beijing almost immediately after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
I would love to see a historical division mp game. Fingers crossed you get something like that organized
Ohhh that’s a cool idea! Basically impossible to enforce though!
@@Aldrahill could easily get a mod to lock division templates?
Deep battle was actually the soviet military strategy in ww2
After googling, the Type 36 is a fake tank made up by a game called Valkyria
Huh, that's weird!
Let the pain begin, I love playing China in Hoi4
I've never had the weird getting kidnapped stuff, I just do other focuses and usually mao will ask for talks not the sinkiang guy
13:20 That's just a knife and it doesn't look like any kind of Chinese designs
now do it again but in the Eight Years War of Resistance mod
Definitely planning to do this as a reboot in the future :)
6:08 average paradox moment XD
I hope u hit 50k subs by end of next month
Me too!!!
Alongside the Panzer 1's arned with nachineguns in a 1 man turret
You should have designed a tank based off thr Vickers Armstrong
Better known as the Vickers 6 ton
1 man turret, light howitzer
It can also have an extra gun added to it in tbe form of the Heavy machine gun
And
The Soviets gave there own variant of it, The T-26, to the Chinese
A 6-Ton with some minor improvements
But most importantly
A 2 man turret AND A GOOD ENOUGH GUN, the 45mm Anti tank gun
Ah yes, I remember playing China for the first time and looking at the focus tree, thinking: "Oh, here I can form the Chinese united front. Surely this is how to follow the historical events that the AI always goes though, right?"
This has got to be the one of the most poorly thought out parts of a focus tree in the entire game ever, right up there with fascist Britain's "Move to secure the Dominions" focus.
17:38 if only we could
I know im late but that opening meme did put a smile on my face XD
Ayyy then I did my job! And there’s no late, that’s the joy of TH-cam! You can watch them when you want! Paradoxically it helps the video more to watch and engage with it earlier, but my videos will always be here for you whenever you like :D
Another great video! The Type 34 tank is the pre-tank designer name for the made up Chinese tanks. It isn't historical. Its just a generic suggested template.
Weird!
cant wait for communist china, but i only use historical presets and divisions in hoi4
i can't wait for one day that Aldra does a meme vid like Germany in KaiserRedux but like, armored car only
I did do armoured cars as Sweden before! But I try to do every other week’s video a more memey, challenge focused run rather than pure history
@@Aldrahill fair, just throwing out an idea that not many people have done
Garrison Orders are terrible. I always use fall back lines on ports
Oh good...
Take the pp focus first so you can isntahire Lizon Gren, fastest way for army reforms
You should've played this with the 8 years war of resistance mod for the added realism
True! I’ll need to redo this with that mod at some point :)
