Kimberly, thanks for doing this beginning course on cross stitch. Even though I knew how to stich before watching the videos, I've practiced your techniques and seen improvement in my stitching. I hope you'll continue with the tutorials next year. Judy
My grandmother taught me how to cross stitch years ago and wouldn't call myself a beginner but watching this series has been very helpful! I realized that I've never actually done a French knot, it's been more like the colonial knot. I also had no idea about the loop method of starting a thread and I almost went and did it at that moment lol
Hmmm...my colonial knots seemed to disappear. I will have to practice more. I already knew how to do french knots but it was so helpful seeing your hand placement. Also, how you anchored the floss in the back was new to me. It's funny how you pick up little things here and there that are so helpful. Thank you for a great series!
Your instructions were so clear, but more importantly, you explained why. The close-ups were very helpful. In many of the earlier videos in the series, I wished I could see better watching full screen also helps.
Thanks for doing this series of tutorials Kimberly. French knots have never been one of my favorite stitches. I’m looking forward to finishing my piece as a Christmas gift. Thanks again.
Thank you for the wonderful explanations and demos of the French and colonial knots!! I have just LOVED this series of videos!! Kimberly you are a wonderful teacher!!
Once I learned how to do colonial knots, I have never done French knots again. Also when I do a colonial knot I wrap it on my needle in a figure 8 and they come out the same size as a French knot but lay flatter and to me looks nicer.
Thank you for the demos of the various knots and of course the whole cross stitch series. I am going to practice the knots. When do you choose to do a colonial knot versus a French knot?
Thanks I have enjoyed these weekly videos and found the instructions easy to follow. I have a question about the needle sizes. We used a 26 for this project. When do you use the 28 or the 24 sizes?
Hello Verna! Size 24 needles would be used for lower count fabrics like 10/11 count. Size 28 needles would be used for higher count fabrics like 18 count
Kimberly, can you post still shots - maybe on jabber - of both the full front and back of the piece? I caught a glimpse of the back and see I traveled more than you did. Also, I was unsure of how to stitch moving around the designs and seeing your back will help me see how you did.

I really like that she shows you how to troubleshoot in her videos. That is really helpful!
Showing how to fix an error is very helpful, too!
Thoroughly enjoyed this series thankyou 🙂🇬🇧
You are simply the best teacher ever.
My aunt taught me to cross-stitch when I was a child. Now, picking up the craft as an adult, I am learning so much from you. Thank you!
You made the knots look so easy thank you
Thank you for this video. I have learned so much from your videos and I feel more confident in my cross-stitching. Again, thank you 😊
Thank you, Kimberly!
Thanks Kimberly!
Wow. Thanks. I’d never seen a colonial knot after many years of cross stitching!!

I was already considering completely skipping the french knots in this design bc I absolutely suck at making them. Now I'm convinced I need to try!
Your French knots are fabulous!
Thank you for this tutorial. French knots have always been a Challenge for me
As a beginner stitcher, thanks for teaching me these knots. I have never heard of the colonial knots too.

Would you consider doing a more advanced video showing the Eyelet or Smyrna stitches. Thanks for getting us started.
Hello Susan! Yes, maybe next year.
Great demonstration, thank you!

Great tutorial. I’ve been too intimidated to add those on.
Thanks for this video on French and colonial knots -super helpful!
Great video, Kimberly. I can now do the French knots!
Are there any more of these playlists where we can follow along and see what kind of decisions you make on how to tackle more difficult patterns?
Great instructions 👏🏻
I have some cross stitched pieces that I want to include in a quilted wall hanging. Do you have a video showing how to do that?
But how do you anchor a French knot in Aida fabric when the stitch is all by hitself?
I was understanding that there was going to be a video on how to finish the piece off after the stitching was completed? When will that vod be out?
Hello Tracy! It will be available Monday, November 1st.
Thank you for the demos of the various knots and of course the whole cross stitch series.
I am going to practice the knots.
When do you choose to do a colonial knot versus a French knot?
Hello Dolores! I recommend doing whatever looks best to you for each project.

Hello Kim! We will answer your question in our Q&A on November 8th
Is there some where to get the same pattern your doing.

I am confused. What is the difference between wrapping the thread to the right or to the left?
Hello Gilda! It affects how the stitches look.
Would you ever do either of these knots with more than one thread? Can you do more than one loop in a colonial knot?
💜🎵🎶
Why one strand instead of two?
Hello Cynthia! Would you please give us the time stamp for when Kimberly talks about using one strand?
Thanks Kimberly for all your tutorials…I saved this one to watch later for a review when I need it on colonial and french knots…thanks again✂️🧵🔆🪡❤️
