    Love the dust collection on the plunge router. I have 5 routers in my workshop and this Porter Cable is the only one I now use.

    Interesting video. Wasn't there a recall on the 890?

      I'm pretty sure the recall was on an older version.

    I have a porter cable router model 6912. I cannot find any info as to its Horse power. Any idea what it might be? I have searched everywhere and still no answer.

    Porter cable said you can use 690 motor in 890 bases, is this true?

    If it turns off when it is upside down how can you use it in a router table?

    • @jlb1955
      @jlb1955 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only turns off if you set it on a table. Suspended in a router table does not cause it to turn off.

    Having separate router motors for each base is a matter of convenience. I have the older American made versions of the Porter-Cable 690 series routers, 2 Fixed Bases, 2 D-Handles and a Plunge. They're classics.

      Hi Tristan,
      I agree, you can't beat a classic. I just find this one to be a good deal for new woodworkers . The features are convenient too.
      Thanks for watching. You can check out a portfolio of my work on my website anamericanartisan.com .

      After some thinking, the part is included in the kit but never had to use it before. www.partswarehouse.com/Porter-Cable-Adapter-Vaccum-DWB-608805-p/dwb-608805-00.htm

    hey man thank u ... I was wondering if you can advise me about the dewalt 618 pk router ....

    • @anamericanartisan9846
      @anamericanartisan9846  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will look into that router. Do you have a specific use in mind?

    • @anamericanartisan9846
      @anamericanartisan9846  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took a look at the dewalt router. it looks very similar to the porter cable router I suggested in the video above. I like that it comes with a fixed and plunge base and has integrated dust collection. The price is much lower but I don't feel that the quality suffers. My only concern would be to look into what type of bushings fit this model. bushings are handy for advanced router techniques. the face plate included with this dewalt model looks like it has to large an opening for the porter cable style bushings but may accommodate a different brand. Otherwise, it looks like a good router. if you haven't already, please subcribe. I intend to do more videos featuring router techniques.

      The DW618 is a bit shorter in height so less likely to tip over if that's an issue. Looks like this plunge base was copied from the DeWalt.
