    I've been fortunate to try the Brora 38, and it's just pure magic. Great review as always, cheers!

    This was a great review. I had the Brora 35 at a tasting and it blew me away. I don’t think I’ll ever taste a whisky so unique again. It reminded me of the Farm I grew up on.

      Ugh, they’re soooooo good! I’m glad that you got to experience it (and that you found that unique note that I describe as “barnyard”) Cheers!

    Your reviews are always very well done. Funny you made this video now. I was looking at my last bottle of Brora 35 thinking might be time to crack it open.

    Great rundown on a beautiful single malt. The last Brora I purchased was the 35 back in 2013. While I wish I still had some, it was delicious to the last drop. Cheers!

    Brora/Clynelish is one of my favorite highland malts. I was lucky enough to visit on my last trip to Scotland and got the kings tour treatment. Wonderful distillery and these old Brora bottlings definitely deserve all the hype. Great review.

    Haven't listened much to whisky reviews lately, but here I had to make an exception. This one evidently required you to give it your all :-)

    You can spend 1/2 your annual salary on a Macallan and NOT experience great whisky.
    This is GREAT whisky.
    Thanks LiquorHound. Excellent review.

    Great review as always! Can you recommend something that will give us 75% of what these old Broras taste like? I’ve seen the 37 and 38 in the $1,500 range recently. Thanks for the great content!

    • @LiquorHound
      @LiquorHound  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The closest is probably something from it's "sister" distillery, Clynelish. Now you'll have to find older bottlings, so it won't be inexpensive either, but since it's not a closed distillery it'll be a little cheaper. Those old Clynelish's are delicious and can sometimes display similar characteristics but the peat won't be as big (pre-1973 Broras were bolder in peat, but that softened as they headed toward the closing in 1983). Cheers!

    Thanks for the great video . I have an off topic from this video that I have been thinking about for quite awhile and have never ran across any whisky aficionado that has ever tried it before. Then today I was thinking that Liquor Hound would be the perfect person to ask this question because of your years experience . I am also a wine drinker and after I open a bottle of cab to pour a glass with my meal I have been useing the Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump with Vacuum Bottle Stoppers. I find that they really help with preserving the bottle over a 5 day period as I only have a 5 ounce glass with my dinner daily. Wouldn't this type of technology work good with preserving our open whisky bottles even if a new type of stopper needs to be developed or do you think over time the alchohol vapors would attach the material the stopper is made from? I thought if it did work it may be a better alternative than gassing ones whiskies. Whats your thoughts on this subject? Could be a great one to do a review/discussion on.............Slainte'

      @LiquorHound  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think it could work as long as the seal holds for months or preferably years. Any method that separate the spirit from oxygen, should be able to slow down the flavor loss/changes. Cheers!

    State of the Art review of a State of the Art reviewer ! Great tasting notes, Chris ! 👍 I didn't had that one yet but another 35 yo (2012 Release, 49,1 %, just a sample), among 20 other BRORAs (in 20 years mind you) & I kinda get what you mean about this distillery's peek (maybe it was on top at 30 yo ?) & funny you cover BRORA as I wanna compare my end of sample with a nowadays one from another distillery which I found intriguing similarities (will do the video very soon, but I evoked that already earlier on in my channel). Cheers !

You're very welcome, you're one of my very favorite channels but sorry can't be patreon at the moment...(also anything related to Paypal can't work with me), Cheers ! PS: Maybe you can have a look at my first (reaction rather than review) video about the Port Charlotte 16 yo only (I'll do the comparison in next video): th-cam.com/video/kRGxWBV3uRM/w-d-xo.html

    Hey Houndsy , you're the best! How would you compare the Brora 30 that you recently had with this 35 or even the 38 for that matter ? Thanks for the continuing education.

    • @LiquorHound
      @LiquorHound  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohhh that 30! It’s one of those bottles that you’ll never forget. The 35 is solid though. Sadly, I haven’t had the 38, but if I ever do, I’m sure it’ll equally memorable. Thank you and cheers!

    That's just a bit out of this common man's price range... Wow! I usually top out at about $300 CAD. It must be more incredible than the best whiskies I ever tasted.

    Brora vs Port Ellen?

    • @LiquorHound
      @LiquorHound  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohh that’s rough, but give me Brora. I’ll also say that they seem to hold on longer than PE’s - which don’t oxidize very well. That said, I’d feel honored by a pour of either. Cheers!
